1976 TRIUMPH TR6 ROADSTER VERY ORIGINAL NEVER RESTORED 26,000 MILE SURVIVOR CAR
Complete original and unmolested 1976 Triumph TR6 with only 26,000 original miles in the original desirable color combo from the factory of Delft Blue with black interior . This was an original North American import and spent a good portion of its life in storage for many years . It came here to the southern New England area on January 26, 1989 from a dealer in St Louis Missouri , the odometer mileage statement at the time that is still with the car showing just 21,273 miles . The last inspection sticker on the car being from 1990 shows 21,722 miles . The subsequent owner who was also a dealer stored the car almost always , driving it only occasionally during summer months over the next 20 years and it has since accumulated little mileage and now shows just 25,940 miles . This car is unusual in that it shows like a 3 or 4 year old used car as it would look in the late seventies . It is totally original . It has never been apart . It has never had any rust , panel replacement , accident damage or paint work . It still retains also , its original factory convertible top , interior upholstery , carpeting and Michelin redline tires . If you like perfect , this is not a car for you as these cars were never perfect , even when sold new , and todays level of materials and restorations that is done on these cars now , far exceeds the originality of how these cars were delivered from the factory when new . The car has numerous imperfections , most minor . Scratches , chips , small dents and some brush touched spots . The undercarriage shows very light surface oxidation where undercoat has deteriorated , but again , all original panels . The car was originally Zeibart rust proofed by the dealer when new , as evidenced by the black residue which still shows on many areas of the car as well as the yellow plugs you can see in the door jambs . The car also had an alarm system installed , probably also when new at the dealer which was common in this period . It has since been removed with the exception of the activator , which is still evident on the left front fender . Most all of the chrome is good and original , some showing just light pinpoint pitting . It also comes with an original factory hardtop which is in very good shape including all original Triplex glass , chrome and very nice headliner . The hardtop has been repainted , we are not sure why . The shade of blue is slightly off from the car itself . We feel that it is possible the hardtop was not delivered new with the car and may have been purchased later . The car starts easily and the engine is very lively . It runs , drives , stops and shifts just as you would expect a car in this original condition to . All lights , horn wipers and gauges are in working order .also comes complete with original tonneau cover , boot cover , matching original spare tire , jack , correct radio , original keys and owners manual . If this car suffers from anything , it would be from lack of use ... it needs to be driven ! This car is for the buyer or collector who is looking for a great original TR6 in very nice unmolested condition . The astute buyer will immediately recognize how truly rare this car is , or any car in this condition . It is not something that is often seen , and increasingly harder to find , as they rarely are offered for sale . Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
