This is a rare chance to own a “time capsule” TR6 that has been serviced and needs nothing to be enjoyed right away. This Triumph is near flawless for an original #’s matching 1976 car with 20,255 miles and excellent provenance.

Provenance and History:

This excellent automobile was originally bought in Texas for $6825 by a D.V.M. and Triumph enthusiast.  The factory XXX windshield proudly bears a sticker from the 1988 VTR convention the car attended. The owner was a member of VTR.

In 1996 the second owner had the car shipped from Dallas, Texas to Warwick, Rhode Island. Known service until the car was sold include clutch and clutch hydraulics replacement, new brake servo, wiper motor and door seals.

In 2006 the car was sold to a  M.I.T. graduate in mechanical engineering for $25k and was placed into his collection of 28 cars. He was an avid collector living near Atlanta, Ga. Unfortunately, owner’s  health went downhill quickly after he bought the TR and the car was rarely driven. It sat in his collection until 2013 when I purchased the car from his estate. All cars in his collection were serviced on a regular basis. During the last year I have driven the car approx. 1000 miles.

The original sales receipt and invoice are included with the car along with the meticulous records and receipts from day 1.

Paint and Body:

The color combination is the highly desirable Carmine Red with New Tan interior. Paint code 82, trim code 74. The body paint is original with the exception of the bonnet and engine bay which were repainted due to damage from a battery explosion in 2004. The engine was pulled, the bonnet and engine bay were repainted and the original engine was re-installed by Bassett Jaguar at a cost of over 9K. Being original paint on the body, there are some areas where staining from brake fluid, gas, etc. has occurred over the years. Please see pics. The patina does not exactly match the newer paint on the bonnet but looks very good. I had considered repainting the car, but due to the scarcity of great unrestored cars of this caliber, I left it up to the new owner. I think the car looks fabulous as is. No dents.

The car includes a matching hardtop that I purchased last year to go with the car. I have not fitted it onto the car but it comes with all mounting hardware. The headliner is in good shape but has pulled away a little bit in the rear. All glass is original and the top is Carmine Red.  I’m not sure about the paint match on the hard top as I have never installed it and it did not come with the car

The convertible top is in excellent condition with no blemishes and a clear zip-out rear window.

Chassis and Undercarriage:

There is no rust on the car other than some minor surface rust underneath. The frame has been treated with Eastwood anti-rust solution. See pics.

Chrome:

All chrome is beautiful.

Interior:

The interior is original and in great shape with no tears in the seats.

Engine and Drivetrain:

This is an original overdrive car. Vin # has an O at the end. The overdrive in my opinion is a must have for driving at highway speeds. The transmission and overdrive unit shift smoothly.  I drove the car recently and had no problem cruising at 80+ with power to spare.

The tires on the car are Michelin X Redlines with plenty of tread left.  A testament as to how few miles are on the car. These tires are no longer available new and are often desired for car shows. For daily driving I would have them replaced although they perform well as-is. I took the car on a road rally a few weeks ago and it handled superbly.

The suspension and steering are very tight with no clunking sounds.

Since adding the car to my collection last year I have done all work needed to bring the car up to running at it’s optimal ability as an stock original car. This car can be driven anywhere and needs nothing. It is ready for your collection, to be used as a show car, or daily driver.

Please ask any questions before bidding. Inspections are invited. Payment must be made in cash or wire transfer only. Bids by bidders with zero or negative feedback will not be accepted. Vehicle is being sold as is where is with no warranties either expressed or implied.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
