Relisting due to a non-paying bidder from Puerto Rico who sent an email after the auction ended saying he was checking on shipping charges then sent sent one two days ago saying he bid by mistake. Long story short, if you are buyer from outside the US contact me first or I will cancel your bid. I am too busy to tolerate liars, dreamers, and flakes.... (this is an auction site and not a dating site but the requirements are the same)! I will make an exception if you are from Nigeria and can prove to me that my long lost uncle who died and left me a fortune hired you to handle the estate. Send me $100,000 USD in small unmarked bills as proof of your sincerity and we can do business. Now, back to the auction........... I’m continuing to thin my collection of TR6's because, as much as I hate to do it, I really don’t want to be one of those guys who has a few nice cars and let’s them go to waste because they don’t have enough room to store them properly or take care of the cars the way they should be cared for. With that in mind, I am offering my 1974 TR6. I bought this car out of Alabama where it has been in the same family (and area) its entire life. For cars of this age, they do not title them in Alabama. However, I have a bill of sale and the transferable current tag receipt (all matching) which is all that is required in almost every state to register a car. This is a well optioned car. The Commission number is CF29703UO. Those who know Triumph’s recognize that the “O” confirms that the car is fitted with very desirable overdrive from the factory. Being a later model car, the overdrive is the very robust “J” type which provides overdrive on 3rd and 4th gear instead of the earlier “A” type (which provided overdrive on 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears). The engine is original (serial number CF29043UE). This car also has the originally fitted hardtop. This hardtop is very nice…it has the original headliner, original vent screens, original hardware (hard to find and expensive to replace) and good seals and original Triplex glass. The top even has the original chrome finishing strips. The hardtop seals so well on this car that when I was bringing the car home I went through a heavy downpour for a couple of hours and the interior remained dry. That’s a pretty big accomplishment for a TR6. This is a $1,000 hardtop in this condition level with this level of completeness. I’ll cover the car system by system so you can get a clear picture of the strengths and weaknesses: The frame is rust free. The trailing arm attachment point and cruciform (T-shirt) are solid and rust free. I am by no means a body repair expert; however, I don’t see any signs of accident damage on the frame. The electrical system is the best of all three of my TR6’s. The blower, radio, gauges, headlights and Hi/Lo beam switch work. The turn signals, horn, wipers work…even the hazard lights work! The interior light comes on when you open the door. Also, as a rarity, the annoying door open buzzer still works when you open the door with key in the ignition.. When was the last time you’ve seen (or, more appropriately, heard) that? The engine is really sweet on this car. If I had to pick my favorite engine in all three cars it would be this engine. It starts immediately with no smoke or noises. The cars settles to a nice idle immediately. It has 80+ psi of oil pressure when cold and around 50 psi once warm. The engine appears to be relatively oil drip free and runs cool when idling. The engine fan was replaced by an electric fan (the original red fan is included) and is controlled by a switch under the dash. I have measured the thrust washer wear and I get 0.005 inches. Factory spec calls for 0.004" to 0.008" (some say 0.010" is acceptable). Either way, this one has many miles left on it. The clutch takes up well and grabs firmly. Not much to report there since it operates as it should. The transmission shifts very smoothly. The overdrive works and engages cleanly. The output shaft seal of the transmission is leaking and should be replaced at some point. The transmission oil is leaking onto the exhaust pipes that pass under it so that when the exhaust first heats up you get a nice whiff of 90 weight. You can drive it like that; however, you will need to check the level on a regular basis. The brakes pull strongly and evenly. No sign of sticking calipers. The emergency brake works well and is adjusted correctly. The interior appears original and looks good. For a show car you will change it out anyway. The wood dash is good with minor clear coat cracking. The crash pad around the ventilation controls is cracked. The crash pad around the ignition key is good. The kidney pads around the speakers look good. There is no convertible top. However, the convertible frame has been rebuilt with new webbing and is in the car waiting on a new top of your choice. The wheels have new “beauty” rings and the Michelin redlines look good with minimal age checking. The paint on the car is a typical 10 to 20 footer. The car was repainted once before and, as usual, it’s not that great. It was repainted approximately 30 years ago and is showing its age. The paint in the trunk and in the engine bay is original. For a car pushing 40 years old it is in darn good shape. The floor boards show surface rust but are solid with no rust. There are a couple of small rust bubbles on the car (see the pictures). The door check strap on the passenger side broke at some point prior to my ownership and the door was hyper extended. This resulted in the crease shown in the picture. The fender was not bent…just the door. It looks like there was some minimal bodywork around the headlight bucket on the passenger side. The trunk is rust free with the correct soft top cover, spare tire tie down, jack, and spare tire board. The car also has the correct “flat tube” luggage rack. The car has period correct driver AND passenger mirrors. The mirror glass is good and they are in good shape. So, in summary this is a nice running TR6 that was highly optioned when sold (hardtop, overdrive, luggage rack, and dual mirrors). It would be a great winter project that really just needs cosmetic attention to be a show winner.
Payment via bank check (must allow time to clear), wire transfer, or cash in person. I am not interested in any trades ... I am trying to reduce the number of cars!
A couple of people have asked for a video of the car running...It is below:

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack
Sun, 21 Sep 2014Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
