1974 Triumph Tr6 Convertible - Very Low Miles - Runs Fantastic on 2040-cars

I'm going to assume that if you're reading this auction you know what a Triumph TR6 is, and you understand why they're so awesome, and why every motoring enthusiast MUST have one.

If you would like to see a youtube video of this car starting and running type clevelandmoto triumph tr6 into the search block, or contact me directly and I can send you as many videos of this car as you require.

This particular car satisfies a lifelong dream of mine, since I was a child and I witnessed the launch of the TR6, I knew I would eventually own one. The spitfires and MG's didn't do it for me. Nothing had the stance, the look, the attitude of the TR6. Filling the wheel arches up with those 15" uniroyals it simply looked as though the car had been modified for track use. Unfortunately, My business is changing, and I'm forced to part with a number of my "summer toys". I am not selling this due to financial hardship or obligation, I simply need to reduce the number of items occupying my garage.

I purchased this car from a man who had restored the entire car about 10 years ago, the paint is what you'd call a 20 footer. The car has been religiously stored in a heated garage and never driven if there was even a hint of rain. The top is factory original shadow blue and needs to be replaced. It is hiding in there under the tonneau cover (or so I remember).

The chrome and other brightwork is original, not replated, it has a light patina you'd expect on an indoor stored vehicle of this age, but far from anything you'd call corrosion.

The interior is very nice with the splits and cracks you'd expect on 40 year old wood, all the gauges work, and I seem to have lost the key to the glove box, so, you are welcome to whatever you find in there. The car at one time had a cockpit tonneau cover, so there are studs there if you'd like to install this very British accessory.

Electronics are supposedly the failing of these british cars, yet everything on this car works wonderfully. The Smiths gauges all report back the status of their representative fluids and voltages without a tap or flicker. The lighting, wipers and heater works reliably and there's even a period correct radio that pulls in modern stations through what must be two very small speakers. This car does NOT have the factory Air Conditioning. The car starts easily simply pull the choke, pump the gas 6 times (if cold) and turn the key.

All of the suspension on this car has been renewed and it handles very well. The uniroyal tires are getting old, but they still grip well and have plenty of tread left. All the wear is even and the tires are rotated annually regardless of how many miles have been put on the car.

The brakes have also been recently renewed and you'll find it is quite easy to stop regardless of your speed. I have recently driven this car to over 85 mph and although it is light on its feet by todays standards, I never felt out of control or in any danger whatsoever. There are retractable seatbelts from the manufacturer for those who feel they need them.

The wings (fenders) bonnet and boot lid all appear to be in fantastic condition and the wings all appear to be replacement items. There is some visible old treated corrosion on the splash apron and along the inner chassis. All of it appears to have been correctly mended and treated to prevent any spread in those areas. I have included a number of pictures of these areas and would be able to take many more for the potential buyer. The doors, boot and bonnet are all in excellent original condition. It does not appear as though this car has experienced much corrosion in its life.

The battery is less than a year old. I have every reason to believe this car is fitted with the original starter from 1974. As hard as that may be to believe I see no evidence on its mounting that it has ever been replaced. I keep the battery on a battery tender device to prevent loss of charge during long periods of inactivity. The car is stored on jack stands during the winter months, has its oil changed, fuel drained, tank fogged and body covered with a cotton blanket.

The previous owner fitted the car with a twin tip monza style exhaust that gives the car a racer growl when running through the parkways.

There is a non-standard twin-tone air horn installed that works well and gives the little car a touch of motorway authority.

This has been a reliable car for my wife and I, we have no dogs or children, so this car has not been upgraded with fur or other mystery substances. I am a non-smoker, but I can not vouch for the previous owner, there appear to be no odd smells or burns on the upholstery.

I will continue to store the car for a reasonable amount of time while the winner arranges finances and shipping.

I will accept cash or a personal check only. The vehicle and title will not change hands until the payment has been secured.

I will happily drive the car to the winner within a 150 mile radius (weather permitting) for a fee of $2 per mile.

The winner of the auction will be expected to pay a deposit on the auction immediately to cover my expenses should they fail to complete their obligations.

The winner will knowingly accept that this is in fact a used car and that no warranty is expressed or implied. It's fitness is to be determined by the buyer who is the holder of all responsibilities of ownership. I welcome any interested party to travel to Cleveland, Ohio to test drive this car to ensure this exactly the vehicle they are looking for. I can only hope that it will bring you as much joy as it has brought to me.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
