1973 Triumph Tr6 6 Cylinder 4 Spd Classic Vintage British Convertible Sports Car on 2040-cars

1973 Triumph TR6, 6 cylinder, 4 speed, convertible sports car.  One of the last true frame and body English roadster without the ugly rubber bumper over riders and smog equipment.  For CA buyers and perhaps other states, the car is smog exempt.  Has had one repaint in the past, but shows recent re upholstery and carpeting, plus recent convertible top and Coker redline tires with few miles.   It shows as a decent 8 foot car regularly driven.  The odometer reads 58,812 miles and title verifies it as actual miles.  Its exact history is unknown.

The engine starts easily, oil pressure at ~80 lbs at start and 50-60lbs. at idle.   It runs cool, with original front spoiler air inlet and radiator/fan shroud still in place.  After extended idling, temp guage registers at 1/4.  Engine pulls strong and shifts cleanly through all gears.  Although the clutch throw out bearing makes a whirring sound in neutral and clutch disengaged.   The oil filter has been upgraded with a spin on adapter.  Air cleaner has been changed to 2 performance filters and Monza performance exhaust has been added.

The floor pans and spare tire well are sound with no apparent rust.  Lower front fenders show some rust and body filler repair at the mounting crease - patch panels are readily available.  Rocker panels, door sills and bottom of doors are sound with no rust.  The frame has some rust damage at the trailing arm mounts and bottom crucible plate, as is typical for these cars.  Again, repair patch kits are readily available.  The car has to have been in the East at some point.

This classic British sports car was acquired from an Arizona estate.  The 60 something owner died unexpectedly and left his sister to deal with the estate.  She was not familiar with the car or its history.  It came with no maintenance or repair receipts.  Although, the owner also had a 2006 Lotus Exige and a daily driver pickup truck so he apparently knew and liked his British sports cars.  The Triumph was registered as an Historic Vehicle in AZ.

I've tried to be as descriptive and forthright as possible about the car, based on very limited knowledge of its history.  Overall, it would benefit from some tinkering and sorting out, as it may have sat for a while before I acquired it.  Please look at all the pictures and ask any questions before bidding.  I will answer any inquiries to the best of my abilities.   It is being sold "as is,"  since I've got too many other projects that need my attention.  Personal inspections are welcomed and encouraged.

Thanks for your consideration.   It is also being  advertised locally, so I may need to cancel the listing should it sell before the auction ends.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
