Newly restored 1980 Triumph Spitfire 1500 Convertible with 4 Speed Overdrive Transmission.

Frame up restoration - stripped down to the frame and refinished/rebuilt. Tons and Tons of new parts! (see below)
Fun to drive, especially with the top down! It's a real head turner and gets compliments everywhere I go!

There are no mechanical issues with this car. The Spitfire consistently cranks and runs smooth everyday.

Mechanical Work:

Engine was completely disassembled down to the block and taken to a professional machine shop for: valve job, milled head, polished crank shaft, honed block, resurfaced flywheel, freeze plugs installed. (shop reference & receipts available). Then the engine and carb were rebuilt, new bearings, seals, gaskets, etc... by a professional mechanic (shop ref. & receipts available).

Odometer is 87,000 but it was completely rebuilt at 84,000 so it's only about 3,000 miles old. Keep in mind that all Triumph Spitfire odometers only have 5 digits. In the case of this car, you know that it's been professionally rebuilt!

This project wasn't a quick flip. This restoration was a two year process with attention to detail and done with the intention to last! All receipts and pictures of the restoration available.

New mechanical parts:
Piston rings, Main and rod bearings, All new gaskets and seals, Performance Pacesetter ceramic header, Water pump, Muffler, Thermostat, Spark plugs & wires, Motor mounts, Starter, Oil sensor, Radiator hoses and cap, Radiator fan switch and cooling fan relay, Ignition wire set, Steering rack boots, Complete clutch assembly, Carb rebuild kit gaskets and filter assembly, Accelerator cable, 2 inline fuel filters, Fuel pump fuel lines replaced, Master brake cylinder, Brake lines and brake pads, Brake cylinders, Roller bearings, Drive and axle shaft u-joints, All new suspension bushings, Battery and cables, All rubber gaskets and bushings replaced.

A bin of extra misc parts.

Remaining to be done:
This restoration is about 99% complete. All the expensive stuff has been done! It only needs a few more things.
The drivers seat has a small tear and is patched on the side. Cosmetic flaw but doesn't look bad (see pic).
Some of the interior panels are original reconditioned - not perfect but good cosmetic condition (see pic). Easily replaced with new if desired.
Rear chrome bumper has some scratches and chrome is a little worn.
New fuel sender - $44.99 (gasoline level register in the gas tank - easy repair). Gas gauge works.
New windshield washer pump - $24.25
New horns - $35.95
Does not have a radio or speakers. Audio system - $?
Spare tire is original old and needs to be replaced.  Rim wasn't refinished and cover is old.
A few small spots on paint could be fixed but is good enough to be left alone.
That's it! Small stuff.

NADA estimates the average retail for this car with it's options and condition is $7,575. Look up link for reference:

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
