1979 Triumph Spitfire Base Convertible 2-door 1.5l on 2040-cars

Year:1979 Mileage:73965
Location:

High Point, North Carolina, United States

High Point, North Carolina, United States

The vehicle is a 1979 Triumph Spitfire with 4 speed manual transmission w/overdrive (switch is on the gear shifter). It has been garaged for 10+ years and unfortunately I have never had extra money to begin restoring it to new although it's in pretty good shape as is. This is the 1500 model with 1493cc engine - the car purred like a kitten just before I pretty much shut it down for good back around 2006. I had put two new u-joints in it, a clutch slave cylinder and clutch reservoir as well. The car is red but looks like it may have been brown when it was purchased new from Triumph in 1979. All four wheels are in good shape but just need to be bead blasted and repainted - there is no damage on any of them. The engine turns freely but there is no longer any good fuel in the tank and lines up to the carburetor. The car originally was produced with two Stromberg carburetors but when I bought this one somebody have modified it and put a single Webber carburetor on it. The interior is in good shape but needs some tender loving care - the driver's seat has a tear in the back with some of the foam beginning to come out. I have the convertible top for it but it's in no condition to use at this time. The car did come with a hardtop so that's a nice bonus and it's in generally good shape. The car has 4 good tires on it but it's been sitting for a long time and I'm sure they're out of round by now. I also have a spare intake manifold for the car with the standard dual Stromberg carburetor too (don't have a second one). The mileage on the car seems to be accurate and I believe I am the third owner but not absolutely sure about that - the car was purchased locally here in the Greensboro, NC area when I bought it. You will not be able to crank up the car because I don't have a good battery for it, there is no fuel in the tank and lines, and the carburetor needs a rebuild before attempting a startup on it. I tried cranking it about 2 years ago with a spare battery but I think the carburetor needs a rebuild to make things happen, fuel pump was working fine though. The buyer will need to pick up the vehicle between August 18th and August 29th if possible or make arrangements with seller. If you have any questions about the vehicle, please feel free to call me on my cell at 336-259-6636 and I'll be glad to talk with you about it.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
