Princess Anne, Maryland, United States
North Carolina "Rust Free" '96 Tacoma " 1 Registered Owner " I am selling a 1996 toyota tacoma "4x4" truck, AND it is grasslands camo vinyl wrapped. The toyota was purchased & driven by one original owner since new down in N.C., and comes with clear title. The truck is factory black under the camo wrap, (as the camo is beginning to peel in areas) and has a narrow bend where the fender meets the drivers door. This tacoma is "Rust Free" on the frame & body, and had a new set of oversize tires mounted last fall (about 500 miles). And in january the truck had much of the frontend rebuilt, including entire front brakes. Truck is a very nice running 4 cylinder and automatic model truck with only 199,100 "original" miles from one driver. Extended cab, rear wing windows, back sliding glass, and all four seats have expensive very nice mossy oak seat covers. A few dents in the front, needs window crank handles, and radio works randomly, thats it ! And it also has a rear reciever hitch with slide in & the bed has been protected by Linex ! " If you like to go catfishing or bowhunting" this truck is for you, thats all it has ever been used for ! Truck is located in Md., and I reserve the right to end auction early as it is for sale locally as well.... Please be prepared to follow thru with purchase ! ! On Apr-07-14 at 07:34:30 PDT, seller added the following information: I would recommend a front end alignment and front shocks to finish the work already done! |

Toyota is world's top-selling automaker for second year in a row
Sun, 26 Jan 2014Toyota is the top-selling automaker in the world. Again. Still. With total reported sales, including those from subsidiaries, of 9.98 million in 2013, Toyota's performance was enough to outpace rival General Motors by around 270,000 vehicles. That's a 2.4-percent gain over 2012, and it makes Toyota the top-seller two years in a row. Still, the gap between the top three is shrinking - Toyota held a 460,000-unit lead in 2012.
GM sold 9.71 million vehicles last year, a four-percent increase, coming in second place ahead of Volkswagen, which sold around 9.5 million. According to Bloomberg, Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda said his company managed to win the sales race while also remaining more profitable than GM or VW.
It's going to be another interesting year in 2014 as the three behemoth automakers vie for the title of World's Largest. Toyota has predicted that it will increase sales in 2014 to 10.32 million - which would make Toyota the first automaker ever to surpass 10 million global sales - though General Motors and VW are expected to again fight for the lead in the massive Chinese market. Stay tuned.
New drifting world record set in Toyota GT86
Wed, 30 Jul 2014We have entered a drifting arms race. Last year, BMW smashed the Guinness World Record for the longest drift by hanging the tail out for 51.3 miles around a wet skid pad in an M5 at the BMW Performance Driving School in South Carolina. That beat the previous milestone of nearly seven miles. Now, Bimmer's record is up in smoke as well and is in the possession of a Toyota.
German driver Harald Müller pummeled the old record to drift for 89.55 miles around a 0.15-mile (235.5-meter) course in Samsun, Turkey, in a Toyota GT86 (or Scion FR-S as it's known in the US). According to the Guinness World Records website, it took him 612 laps and 2 hours, 25 minutes and 18 seconds to manage the achievement. Sit back to watch a few minutes of the German's two and a half hours behind the wheel with the tail out.
Scion trying to build business case for FR-S convertible as Subaru bows out
Tue, 28 Jan 2014Hope may remain for a convertible version of the Scion FR-S, according to a report from Ward's Auto. You'll recall that rumors were swirling about the feasibility of a rear-drive Toyobaru convertible as early as October, and that back in November, Subaru - which makes the FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86 - essentially nixed the idea of an open-topped variant.
"We make the car, so if we don't make it, it can't happen," brand chief Yasuyuki Yoshinaga told Automotive News, according to Ward's, at the Tokyo Motor Show. "Our engineering department told me that losing the entire roof requires a complete redesign of the structure. It would need a big change."
Despite Yoshinaga-san's arguments against a droptop variant, Toyota is apparently still considering the model. Speaking to media at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, Scion's US vice president, Doug Murtha, hinted that the rear-drive droptop was in the works.
