My own, personal 2011 Toyota Tacoma is up for sale.  This truck has virtually EVERY amenity that was offered on this model in this year.  It is TRD/OFF ROAD, SR5 trim, oversized 16 inch alloy wheels, power EVERYTHING, back-up camera in rear-view mirror, 4-door access cab.  It is complete with tow package and the pin adapter (ready to tow).  Factory tinted windows.   6 airbags.  6-speaker toyota stereo with am/fm/CD/MP3 capabilities.  Accessory stereo input jack for iPod/iPhone or other device.  It has standard steering wheel stereo controls.  Cruise control, and many, many more.  See toyota website for additional features or email with questions.

Aftermarket modifications:  Additional clear coat protection was applied.  Additional undercoating was applied. (these warranties do not transfer)  The truck is equipped with Lo Jack theft protection system (would have to be registered to new owner).  It has a 3.75 inch Billstein suspension lift / leveling kit front and back and the back is blocked for extra height.  The tires are Nitto Grappler oversized 285/75 R 16, and the wheels are outward spaced with 1.5 inch billeted aluminum spacers (not cast).  The front tires just slightly rub sometimes only on sharpest turns and depending on payload.  (not enough to cause any problems or damage)  Original factory alloy rims.  The stereo was never removed, but I did put a component speaker system in the truck.  It was removed for my newer vehicle (sorry!)  The truck currently has the factory tweeters in the front door, factory speakers in the ceiling space, and nicer Kenwood 2-way speakers also in the front door.  Still sounds WAY better than without the Kenwoods.

Use:  This truck has been garage kept and low miles.  It has a few very minor, normal wear-and-tear, spots (the area we live in is hard on vehicles naturally b/c of traffic congestion and over-crowding).  Never wrecked.  No water damage.  Never a cigarette smoked in it.  Has towed a trailer with one motorcycle only one time.  Driven in snow only twice.

This truck is actually pretty rare.  It's not that easy to find the 4WD/OFF ROAD/TRD model in an access cab with manual transmission.  It is also loaded with amenities beyond any other 2011 model I could find.

Warranties:  Buy with confidence, there is still 2 years and/or 17,000 miles of factory warranty on this vehicle.  Bumper to bumper.

There are a lot of details not mentioned here.  Please see pics and email with questions.  If you love Tacomas, this auction can make your truck dreams come true!!

U.S. and Toyota Reach Settlement Over Safety Problems Disclosure

Wed, Mar 19 2014

The U.S. has reached a $1.2 billion settlement with Toyota Motor Corp., concluding a four-year criminal investigation into the Japanese automaker's disclosure of safety problems, according to a person close to the investigation. Attorney General Eric Holder, Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx and U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Preet Bharara, were announcing the settlement Wednesday morning, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to discuss the settlement on the record before the announcement. TOP 5Most Researched Green Cars On AOL Autos 2013 Honda Fit EV MSRP : $36,625 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV MSRP : $26,685 2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV MSRP : $29,125 2012 Ford Focus Electric MSRP : $39,200 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in MSRP : $32,000 In a statement early Wednesday, Toyota said it has "cooperated with the U.S. Attorney's office in this matter for more than four years" and had "made fundamental changes to become a more responsive and customer-focused organization, and we are committed to continued improvements." The criminal investigation focused on whether Toyota was forthright in reporting problems related to unintended acceleration troubles. Starting in 2009, Toyota issued massive recalls, mostly in the U.S., totaling more than 10 million vehicles for various problems including faulty brakes, gas pedals and floor mats. From 2010 through 2012, Toyota Motor Corp. paid fines totaling more than $66 million for delays in reporting unintended acceleration problems. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration never found defects in electronics or software in Toyota cars, which had been targeted as a possible cause. The settlement continues a string of bad publicity for Toyota, which before the unintended acceleration cases had a bulletproof image of reliability. Since the cases surfaced, the company's brand image has been damaged and it has lost U.S. market share as competition has intensified. Last year, Toyota agreed to pay more than $1 billion to resolve hundreds of lawsuits claiming that owners of its cars suffered economic losses because of the recalls. But that settlement did not include wrongful death and injury lawsuits that have been consolidated in California state and federal courts. In December, Toyota filed court papers after a four-year legal battle saying that it's in settlement talks on nearly 400 U.S. lawsuits, but other cases aren't included in the talks.

Toyota, Ford decide to end hybrid collaboration before it starts

Tue, 23 Jul 2013

Not all so-called Memorandum of Understanding pacts end in actual collaborations. For instance, after a two-year "feasibility study," Toyota and Ford have just announced that they will not be developing hybrid systems for use in light trucks and SUVs as previously planned, and the two automakers will instead continue to develop their own hybrid technology independently.
The would-be collaboration was first announced in August of 2011, and would have seen a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform that would "improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect," according to our initial post on the topic.
Keep in mind that this announcement isn't to say we shouldn't expect hybrid pickups and SUVs from the two automakers, but that they probably aren't coming very soon - Ford says it will have a system "before the end of this decade" and we haven't heard much from Toyota on the hybrid truck front since the 2008 A-BAT Concept (pictured above) - and that they will not share any components between them (and they never have, for what it's worth).

Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R is road-going version of brand's racing technology [w/video]

Wed, 11 Sep 2013

Did you know that the Yaris is Toyota's best-selling vehicle in Europe? That may help explain to us Americans why the car that's lowest on the company's totem poll here in the US got turned into an all-wheel-drive hybrid track monster for the 2013 Frankfurt Monster Show.
Called the Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R, this three-door pocket rocket isn't just a hybrid making a lot of horsepower - it incorporates technology from Toyota's TS030 Hybrid racecar that competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship series, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Yaris Hybrid-R packs a 300-horsepower, turbocharged, 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine under its hood, which should be enough for most speed freaks, but Toyota pairs it with two 60-hp electric motors at each rear wheel (the same ones used in the production Yaris Hybrid that's sold in Europe). That makes total system output an insane-for-this-size 420 hybrid horsies.
But that's not all, as the Yaris Hybrid-R forgoes the traditional battery pack below the rear seats in favor of a supercapacitor, which can both hold more energy and has a much faster power charge/discharge speed than traditional batteries. Paired with the supercapacitor is a third 60-hp electric motor/generator positioned between the engine and six-speed sequential transmission. Its job is to feed the super capacitor energy during deceleration and direct its power to the rear electric motors when more grip and oomph is needed.
