Mileage - 157,XXX (used as daily driver so mileage will be a little higher) For sale is a 2002 Toyota Tacoma SR5 PreRunner with automatic transmission, with 157, XXX miles on the odometer. This truck is still in great shape, the interior is in good shape and very clean. This truck has been a great vehicle for me. Like most well cared for Toyota's it been very reliable and will continue to be for the next owner. The asking price is negotiable, but is close to Kelly Blue Book value for this vehicle, trim, and mileage. Automatic Transmission Toyota Keyless entry Bedliner Power door locks Power windows Power adjustable mirrors Running boards WeatherTech Mats, front and back Toolbox (might go with truck, will fit on my next vehicle- would depend on offer) Hitch Mount Alloy Wheels Sliding Rear Window General Condition -- This truck is used and is being sold as such. There is a bad spot under/behind the driver's seat. This is covered by a floor mat. The driver's seat does not have wear from getting in and out- there are not rips or tears in any upholstery. The interior is clean and smells clean. This truck has not been smoked in at all. Frame/Body Rust -- There is not any rust on the vehicle frame that I have observed. The chrome bumper does not have on the underside of it (common for Tacomas). Accidents -- This vehicle has not been in a collision. There has not been any body work done to it. The exterior of the truck looks great as well, the paint is in good shape. There are some small dings from doors hitting the truck in parking lots, but no major dents. The roof of the cab has began to lose some of the clear coat. The spot is about 6"x6". Maintenance -- Oil has been changed regularly (4000 miles typically with Toyota filter), brakes bled, coolant flushed (always used Toyota antifreeze which is supposed to prevent pitting in the engine block). The automatic transmission fluid has been changed every 25k. Belts were changed June 2012. New starter was installed in January 2012. Front wheel alignment this past spring. New brake pads Spring 2012 (also caliper and rotor on the passenger side). Tires - The tires were purchased in May 2013, and have 80% of their tread left on them. Modifications: None, this is stock. I figured the engineers at Toyota were better at making trucks than me. Truck is registered in Texas and has clean Texas title. If you have questions or would like to see the truck to check it out, please give me a call or a text at nine7nine-665-981two. If the posting is up, the trucks still for sale. Cash only. |

10 automakers sued over keyless ignitions
Thu, Aug 27 2015Keyless ignition has rapidly proliferated throughout the auto industry to become a fairly normal feature on new cars. It's supposed to offer the convenience of keeping the fob in your pocket and just pressing a button to drive away. However, ten major automakers are now being sued in US District Court over claims that the system is dangerous, Reuters reports. The suit alleges that people are forgetting to shut off the engine, and the lack of an idle timer is the cause for 13 deaths by carbon monoxide poisoning and multiple injuries. The suit currently includes 28 plaintiffs, according to Reuters, but the lawyers are asking for class-action status to potentially add many more. The case goes after a major swath of the industry, including BMW, Daimler, FCA, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen, plus their related brands like Acura, Infiniti, Mini, and Lexus. In all, over five million vehicles are affected. The assertion here is that people walk away from their vehicle without shutting it off because they believe the engine shuts off automatically. If parked in a garage, carbon monoxide can build up, leading to poisoning. The lawyers claim automakers know this is a problem and also cite 27 complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the issue, according to Reuters. The plaintiffs are asking for an automatic shut-off and damages from the companies. These concerns have come up before, though. Toyota previously faced a lawsuit over a carbon monoxide death after a woman accidentally left her Lexus running. Also earlier this year, GM recalled 64,186 examples of the 2011-2013 Chevrolet Volt because owners weren't shutting them off. The problem resulted in two injuries, and the company released a software update to limit the idling time.
Toyota to axe Venza by June 2015
Mon, Mar 2 2015After years of wallowing about the market as a slow-selling alternative to its own RAV4 and Highlander (among over CUVs), Toyota is putting the Venza out to pasture, the company confirmed. Production will officially cease by June of this year, although Toyota will continue to screw together the car for export markets until September of 2017. No jobs will be affected at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing factory in Kentucky. TMMK already builds the Avalon, Camry and their hybrid variants. To make up for the loss of the Venza, Toyota has already upped production of the RAV4, and is planning on increasing supplies of its Highlander at its Princeton, IN factory. Venza sales have been, in a word, abysmal. According to CarsDirect, Toyota sold just 2,100 Venzas in January of 2015, while sales of the RAV4 and Highlander hit nearly 20,000 units for the former and exceeded 11,000 for the latter. Considering that, freeing up the showroom space occupied by the Venza sounds like a smart move.
Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla says it will adapt cars to China's charging standard, Toyota previews Mirai for NY officials
Fri, May 15 2015Tesla says it will adapt its cars to meet China's charging standards. As Tesla sales in China fail to meet targets, in part due to range anxiety, the company has been working to build chargers for its vehicles to allay concerns surrounding its unavailability and its incompatibility with the country's charging standard. While China says it won't support charging infrastructure incompatible with its own, Tesla says, "We will fully cooperate with the Chinese government in drafting the national charging standards as well as building public charging infrastructure." Cooperation stands to help Tesla meet its sales goals in China, and to help China meet its goal of promoting electric vehicles. Read more at The Wall Street Journal. Abstract Ocean offers LED replacements for the Tesla Model S license plate bulbs. The folks at Teslarati purchased and installed a set to review and shared the results. At $21.99, the LED License Plate Bulb Kit offers a slightly more high-tech lighting solution to match the high-tech nature of the Model S, and is appropriately inexpensive for a decidedly minor upgrade. It is also very easy to install, requiring just a Phillips-head screwdriver and a few minutes. While you're not likely to see any significant energy savings from the LED bulbs, the reviewer likes the look and is happy with the customization experience. Read more at Teslarati. Toyota and Air Liquide hosted a ride-and-drive of the Toyota Mirai at the New York State Capitol. As the hydrogen fuel cell car gets closer to its US launch, Toyota has been hosting informational events to get the word out about the vehicle and hydrogen technology. At the event, which included an informational session on the hydrogen economy, elected officials got to get behind the wheel of the zero emissions vehicle. "After more than a century with the automobile, we are making decisions about socially significant technologies aimed at building a true hydrogen society over the next 100 years," says Toyota Group Vice President of Government Affairs Steve Ciccone. Air Liquide and Toyota are teaming up to develop hydrogen fueling infrastructure in the Northeast US. The Mirai goes on sale in the Northeast in 2016. Read more from Air Liquide.
