Up for sale is a low mileage, clean, and hard to find 2001 Toyota Tacoma 4x4. Seller is only the 2nd owner and bought it in 2002. It has a clean CARFAX vehicle history report (copy available on request). It is a non-smoker truck as well. This truck runs, looks, and drives great! It was meticulously maintained, and has maintenance records. Its most recent service was for the manufacturer recommended 90,000 mile service, which was performed in October, 2012 by a Toyota dealer.
The exterior is in nice shape. The original "Imperial Jade Mica" paint still shines, as do the chrome bumpers. There are some minor scratches/chips here and there that are common with a vehicle of this year. Mostly just on the doors and hood.
The frame was recalled by Toyota and fully replaced under warranty in 2010 by a Toyota dealer. As you can imagine, this is a fairly intensive and time consuming process. The final bill charged by the dealer to Toyota for performing this 3-day warranty procedure was over $16,000 (about half parts, half labor). In accordance with provided documentation, the recall extended warranty coverage to a total of 15 years/unlimited mileage for the vehicle's frame. As part of the frame replacement, new lower control arms, new rear leaf springs, and new brake lines were installed. Essentially the truck is new underneath with just over 17,000 miles on the new frame, all in Southern climates (basically salt free). This work was fully inspected and certified by Toyota. There are no issues or perforations. The rear end is clean and dry, and there are no leaks underneath.
The interior is in great shape as well. The carpets, seats, and headliner are all in excellent condition. There's a minor chip in the windshield, and the plastic over the gauges has a small crack. With the SR5 package, the gauges are upgraded to include a tachometer, all with an orange backlighting that looks slick at night. There aren't any smoke smells, burns, marks, or stains inside. All of the electronics are functioning properly. Two "rear" surround speakers were added behind the bench seat, and are included.
This Toyota Tacoma has nice features and options!
- 2.7L 4-Cylinder Engine
- 5 Speed Manual Transmission
- 4-Wheel-Drive
- Ice Cold Air Conditioning
- Dual Airbags
- Am/Fm/Cassette/CD
This Tacoma runs and drives perfect as you would expect. The 4-Cylinder engine starts instantly and runs great. The transmission shifts nice and smooth and the 4-wheel-drive works exactly as it should. The truck goes straight down the road with no shakes, rattles, or pulls. The brakes stop great with no pulsations.
I have 2 keys, the full size spare tire, jack, tools, owners manual set w/case, and a clean/clear title.

Toyota JV will sell Leahead EVs in China next year
Thu, Oct 23 2014You may have read that Toyota is about to establish a new electric vehicle sub-brand in China called Leahead that will focus on "cheap electric cars aimed at young and hip car buyers in China." This isn't 100 percent true, but the Japanese automaker is revving its electric motors for EVs in China, in a fashion. It makes sense for automakers to push for more EVs in China, given government support for the technology and the proven success of Tesla there. Low-speed EVs are popular, as well. Indirectly, Toyota is going to sell electric vehicles to Chinese customers next year. We've heard reports before that Toyota is interested in going electric in China, with a different Toyota JV and thus a different brand but now we have an official word on Toyota's future EV moves in China, direct from Jana Hartline, the environmental communications manager for Toyota Motor Sales, USA. Hartline told AutoblogGreen that Toyota just celebrated the 10-year anniversary of GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd (GTMC), its joint-venture manufacturing company in China. And it is GTMC, not Toyota directly, that is the company behind Leahead (called Ling Zhi in Chinese). Leahead will begin selling EVs under the Ling Zhi brand starting in 2015. So, yes, indirectly, Toyota is going to sell electric vehicles to Chinese customers next year. There are rumors that the new EVs will be electric versions of the Corolla EX and/or the Yaris L, but we've got nothing confirmed on that front. We will be waiting for more new at the Shanghai Motor Show next April.
Half of Chinese car buyers won't shop Japanese over hard feelings
Mon, May 26 2014The hard feelings between China and Japan is no real secret. Besides modern-day disputes, the two countries have had a long-running enmity that dates back to well before the atrocities of World War II. All things considered, then, it shouldn't be a shock that half of Chinese car buyers wouldn't consider a Japanese car. This survey, conducted by Bernstein Research, found that 51 percent of 40,000 Chinese consumers wouldn't even consider a Japanese car – which, again, isn't really surprising, when you consider stories like this. According to Bernstein, the most troubling thing is the location of these sentiments – smaller, growing cities where the population is going to need sets of wheels. We imagine it wouldn't be as big of an issue in traffic-clogged Shanghai or Beijing, but these small cities are going to become a major focus for automakers. "Nationalistic feelings are an impediment. [Japanese] premium brands will struggle," analyst Max Warburton wrote in a research note, according to The Wall Street Journal. Things will improve for Japanese makes, although China will remain a challenge, with Warburton writing, "the one thing that comes out most clearly is that most Chinese really want a German car. While we expect Japanese brands to continue to recover market share this year, ultimately the market will belong to the Germans." There are a few other insights from the study. According to WSJ, Japanese brands are viewed better than Korean brands, and they're seen as more comfortable than the offerings from Germany or the US, despite the fact that everyone in China apparently wants a German car. This is a tough position for the Japanese makes to be in, as there's really not a lot they can do to win favor with Chinese buyers. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, particularly as the importance of the PRC continues to increase year after year. Best compact SUVs of 2022
Thu, Oct 20 2022Compact SUVs are now the go-to choice for family transportation. Actually, considering how popular they are, they have clearly moved beyond only family duty. With such popularity, though, comes an awful lot of competitors, and it can be difficult to figure out which one might be the best compact SUV for you. It's important to note that by "compact SUV" we're talking about a specific segment. As we describe in our more comprehensive "Best small SUVs" list, there are also subcompact SUVs that vary widely in size amongst themselves, but are clearly smaller than the SUVs below. Frankly, today's segment of compact SUVs isn't exactly compact — some have more cargo space than vehicles that are considered midsize based on their exterior dimensions. They've all grown considerably over the years. While many lists out there just rattle off every vehicle available in a segment, we thought we'd be a bit more helpful and curate your shopping a bit with the top-recommended choices reviewed by Autoblog. We've included both mainstream and compact luxury SUV choices. Best compact SUVs of 2023 and 2024 2024 Honda CR-V Why it stands out: Best-in-class space; excellent hybrid powertrain; sharp interior style; Honda dependabilityCould be better: No lower-price base trim levels; no sporty or off-road niche models; no plug-in hybrid Read our full 2024 Honda CR-V Review Consider the CR-V the baseline for any compact SUV search, and look extra closely at the superb CR-V Hybrid option. Objectively speaking, it's tough to beat due to its massive cargo capacity, voluminous back seat, strong-yet-efficient engines, well-balanced driving dynamics, competitive pricing and features, and well-regarded reliability. It's easy to see why it continues to be such a best-seller: for the vast majority of compact SUV buyers, and especially families, it checks every box. That's been the case for many years now, however. The all-new 2023 Honda CR-V changes things up by adding a bit more style and character, particularly in terms of its interior design and how surprisingly enjoyable the Sport and Sport Touring hybrid trim levels are to drive.
