You are bidding on a 1988 Toyota Supra with a 5.3 lm7 swap from a 03 Avalanche. The body of this car is pretty straight and the interior is in pretty good shape as well. The car started off as a automatic car and was converted to a 5speed. The mileage on the cluster is unknown if it's true or not. Car is a Targa top.

This is a running and driving car. It just needs alittle more tlc to be finished complete. Very few lsx style swapped supras are running around. Everyone jumps on the 1jz or 2jz for supra swaps state side. This car averages about 13mpg in the city. Don't know about the hway as i have no reason to use to for my commute to work. I've had the car for almost a month and have put 400+ miles on it with no hesitation what so ever. It starts everytime!  This would make someone a badass project to finish. This thing only needs a turbo  and cam setup to unlock the full potential of the 5.3.  This car also has working a/c, heat, powersteering and cruise control.

Currently the 5,3 has a custom intake with a k&n filter, ls1 intake manifold, sanderson block hugger headers, custom exhaust to a dynomax muffler., fbody oil pan tapped with a return fitting for a turbo setup, custom motor mounts and trans mounts, b&m fuel pressure regulator with gauge,   The computer running it all is a 98 Fbody pcm tuned with hp tuners. The car dynoed 277/315 in may of this year. The 5.3 is mated to a tremec tko 600(rated to 600 ftlbs) 5speed. The trans alone is over 2k new without a bell housing. It is shifted with a mgw short throw shifter  It is utitilizing a heavy duty 6 puck clutch. The driveshaft is a custom ls1 driveshaft with a toyota rear. The rear end is a 4.30.1 geared lsd differential from a 91 na car.  It's rolling on 1991 supra wheels. Tires are falken on the rear and ripken on the front. The brakes are brand new advance silvers with cross drilled and slotted rotors and stainless brake lines.  It  has aftermarket traction arms to help minimize wheel spin and hopping. The radio is a older high end clarion with a built in harddrive, sd slot and aux slot. Not for sure on the speakers.

Car is not perfect, but has alot of time devoted to it by the person who built it and i have spent alittle time on it staightening out some small things. I just don't have the funds to continue with it anymore. The car is for sale as is.  Everything i know that needs some tlc is listed. Feel free to price how much it would cost you to build this exact setup. My reserve price is set reasonably for this type of swap in a supra. The car is being sold locally as well and i have the right to end the auction if it sells.

The attached photobucket link has every pic from the build process of this car, the donor car for the interior and wheels and some recent pics. It is under the 88 supra album. LSX badge is no longer on the front end.

Toyota reaffirms commitment to body-on-frame SUVs

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

Toyota sold 121,055 Highlander CUVs in 2012, according to Automotive News. By comparison, it sold 78,457 examples of four different body-on-frame, truck-based SUVs (4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Sequoia and Land Cruiser). One could argue then, that the traditional SUVs aren't pulling their weight from a sales perspective. Yet that isn't stopping Toyota from reaffirming its commitment to a segment that has seen its former champions - Ford, General Motors and Chrysler - abandon it with alarming speed. Ford and GM still offer body-on frame utilities, but only in the very largest offerings, catering to seven or even eight passengers. Everything outside of the Expedition or Tahoe rides now on a unibody.
Toyota's decision to stick with the technology is good news if you're in the market for smaller SUVs that are still capable of heading well off the beaten path. Outside of the Jeep Wrangler, Grand Cherokee (a unibody) and perhaps Nissan Xterra, there's not much in terms of capable SUVs between $20,000 and $50,000. As the Toyota brand's US head, Bill Fay, says, "Clearly, the trend has shifted, but there is still an owner base that is interested in these vehicles."
We don't doubt Fay on that, but it may also be somewhat telling that Toyota's SUV lineup is aging, and we haven't seen or heard much about replacement models in the pipeline. Admittedly, the 4Runner (pictured) has been facelifted for 2014, but it's mostly cosmetic in nature. Despite Toyota's posturing, we still expect its body-on-frame lineup to thin in the coming years as sales dwindle and escalating fuel-economy standards make business cases even tougher. Here's hoping that Toyota manages to keep at least one rough-and-tumble SUV in its lineup in the coming years.

Toyota ad says fuel cell cars are inevitable

Fri, Sep 19 2014

Toyota's confidence in H2 technology remains as strong as ever. The company has released a new commercial that says it's not a matter of if we all start driving hydrogen cars, but when. In fact, the 70-second spot calls 2015 the turning point for the alternative powertrain technology. Here's a bit of the voiceover for the animated spot, which to our eyes and ears comes off as more than a little defensive: There will be the naysayers. The handbrakes, who say that it can't be done. that it's unsafe. That there's no infrastructure to support it. Then there'll be the trailblazers. The first to put up their hand, and put down their foot. The bold few, driven to be remembered as those who made a difference. And perhaps, the ones that made all the difference. In the end, Toyota says, we're all going to be driving hydrogen cars, starting perhaps with the company's first H2 sedan which will go on sale next year. But, if the early comments on the video's YouTube page are any indication, then Toyota's might be a bit lonely driving down the hydrogen highway. Watch the ad below, then vote in our poll below and let us know what you think of Toyota's approach. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Toyota demos its TRD Pro Series line [w/video]

Fri, 07 Feb 2014

With a rich history of creating off-road worthy trucks and SUVs and a somewhat bland impression of its brand overall, Toyota has wisely created a line of TRD Pro Series vehicles to spice up its showrooms and newly engage customers. Debuting at this year's Chicago Auto Show before rolling into dealers this fall, the TRD-tuned vehicles include the 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra, all with added rough-road gear and amped-up looks.
The TRD Pro Series trucks might end up, in many cases, as lifestyle accessories for outdoorsy types, but that doesn't mean they're all show. TRD springs and Bilstein dampers are set up for off-road performance, while skid plates will protect the softish underbellies of these would-be rock-crawlers. The trio all get lifted over stock height, as well, with two-inch gains for the Tundra and Tacoma (lovingly referred to as "Taco Supreme" in the Toyota press release), and an inch-and-a-half rise for the 4Runner.
We detailed all of the changes to the Pro Series vehicles in our original announcement post, and you'll also find more granularity of information in the Toyota press release below. Before you dive in, however, be sure to take in our set of live, action-packed images from the Chicago Show floor.
