This is a one owner 2002 Toyota Prius. It runs and drives 100%, has a clean AutoCheck and is being sold with no reserve. The 1.5L four cylinder electric/gas hybrid engine purrs along without a miss or fluid loss. The hybrid system works perfectly. No "check engine" or hybrid warning lights. The system is charging and assisting as required and the auto stop engages when stopped. The brakes, steering and suspension are working with no issues. No exhaust leaks. The exterior is a glossy blue. There are no major dents or dings. You might the typical scratches of a dark color. No body rust. The tires, on factory alloy wheels, have about 50% tread (see pic). The windshield is chip or crack free. The lights and lenses are bright with no cracks. The interior is gray cloth seats and carpet. No rips, holes or wear areas on either the carpet or seats. All the power options such as windows, side mirrors, cruise control, etc. work as designed. There is a factory sound system with CD. It has a factory navigation but needs the nav disc which can be obtained online or from Toyota. This is a great hybrid for the cost conscious driver. It gets the same fuel efficiency of 50+ MPG as the newer, high priced models. There are absolutely no mechanical issues with this vehicle and no indication of any impending problems. Toyota headed to New York with 2014 Highlander, revised Scion tC
Thu, 21 Mar 2013Toyota has given us a look at what the company will bring to the 2013 New York Auto Show. Visitors will get to set their eyes upon the all-new 2014 Highlander, and while the automaker isn't saying much in the way of details, we do get the teaser you see above (click to enlarge) to ponder on until next week. The image shows little more than a headlamp and a bit of grille, but gives us the flavor of what the crossover will bring to the table.
Scion, meanwhile, says it plans to dust off the "new 2014 tC sports coupe." While we don't imagine the two door will have undergone a major surgery, we're interested to see what the automaker has cooked up. The tC last endured a redesign in 2011. Toyota recalling 1.67 million vehicles worldwide in 3 campaigns
Wed, 15 Oct 2014Toyota is issuing three separate recalls covering 1.67 million vehicles worldwide with most of those models in Japan. It looks like the campaigns' impact on the US may be smaller, though. According to Reuters, Toyota isn't aware of any accidents, injuries or fatalities affecting the models. Some yet-unnamed Lexus models might also be affected.
The largest of the campaigns does not currently affect any US-market vehicles. About 802,000 units of the Toyota Crown Majesta, Crown, Noah and Voxy in Japan are being repaired to replace a seal that could leak in the brake master cylinder. Those already leaking get a new brake booster, as well, according to Reuters.
The only recall currently believed to affect the US is due to a problem covering approximately 759,000 vehicles with 423,000 of them here. The repair is to fix a faulty fuel delivery pipe that could cause a fire if the fuel leaks out. Unfortunately, we don't know which models it covers. Autoblog spoke to Toyota spokesperson Mona Richard and was told the information was still "under embargo." When exactly that embargo will lift isn't yet known, but we're on the case.
Total auto recalls already on record pace in 2014
Tue, 08 Apr 2014If you've noticed that there have been more recalls than usual this year, you may be on to something. According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the US market is on pace to break a record for recalls. In 2013, 22 million cars were recalled. We're only a third of the way through 2014, though, and we've already halved that figure, with 11 million units recalled. That's wild.
Considering the past few months, it shouldn't be a surprise that General Motors is leading the charge, with six million of the 11 million units recalled coming from one of the General's four brands. Between truck recalls, CUV recalls and the ignition switch recall, 2014 hasn't been a great year for GM.
Other recall leaders include Nissan (one million Sentra and Altima sedans), Honda (900,000 Odyssey minivans), Toyota (over one million units in a few recalls), Volkswagen (150,000 Passat sedans), Chrysler (644,000 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs) and most recently, Ford (434,000 units, the bulk of which were early Ford Escape CUVs). So while it's been a bad year for GM so far, its competitors aren't doing too well, either.
