Up for auction is a 2004 Toyota Prius. I am the original owner of the car since it was purchased new. It has always been garaged and has always had all of its scheduled maintenance done by a Toyota service department. It has approximately 96,000 miles and most of those are highway miles. It is in excellent condition, drives and handles as it should. It is a non smoker car, has never been in an accident accept for a minor bump in a parking lot on the back bumper that was a very minor repair ( I think it was about $300). As you can see from the photos the interior is clean, no rips or tears in the seats. The dash has no cracks. The carpet is clean as well as the carpeted floor mats. There is one small wear hole in the carpet on the driver side. All power features work such as windows door locks, radio, heat, AC, etc. The exterior is also in great shape. It does have the usual stone chips on the front hood area from highway driving and there are a few tiny dings and very minor scratches, not many, from doors in parking lots. They are barely noticeable and you really have to look for them. There is no rust on the car that I could find. The car has a clear title in hand. The car is located in Clinton, Conn. Payment is by Cash or wire transfer and the car must be paid for within seven days of the close of the auction. Australia may offer money to keep Toyota making cars there
Tue, 04 Jun 2013In the wake of last month's announcement that Ford will cease automotive and engine production in Australia after 2016, many are wondering what the country's other automakers will do. Holden has already confirmed it will stay the course despite Ford's exit.
Much of the GM subsidiary's reason for sticking around has to do with a deal made last year between Holden and the Australian government. In order to secure a GM investment of $1 billion and a commitment to keep manufacturing in Australia through 2022, the government threw in an extra $215 million. According to Australia's Minister for Innovation and Industry, Greg Combet, the government is now in talks with Toyota for a similar deal.
Toyota operates one plant in Australia, the Altona manufacturing and engine plant in Victoria. The facility produces the Camry, Camry Hybrid and Australasia-only Aurion for both the local market and export. The report from GoAuto indicates that negotiations with the Australian government would include adding production of a third, all-new model at Altona, possibly the new RAV4, because it shares many parts with the Camry.
Toyota recalling 10k vehicles to fix wiper switches
Fri, 11 Oct 2013Toyota has announced a voluntary recall covering approximately 10,000 cars in the United States. Affected models include the 2013-14 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2013-14 Avalon and Avalon Hybrid, and the brand new 2014 Corolla.
The problem, as Toyota explains it, is that, "During manufacture of the wiper switch assembly in the involved vehicles, certain contacts on the switch terminal could have been manufactured incorrectly." This could lead to a short in the circuit when the wiper switch is moved between "off" and "mist," and thus, cause the windshield wipers to stop working. Not good.
Toyota will contact owners via first class mail, and the vehicles can be repaired at dealerships, free of charge. Have a look below for the automaker's official statement.
Toyota settles for $3M after being found liable in sudden acceleration case
Sat, 26 Oct 2013A jury has decided that faulty software was to blame for a crash involving a 2005 Toyota Camry that killed one woman and injured another. This is the first time Toyota has been found liable by a jury in a lawsuit involving sudden acceleration claims. Toyota has maintained that driver error is the most likely cause for cases of sudden acceleration.
Shortly after the jury in the case, which took place in Oklahoma and centered around a crash that injured 76-year-old Jean Bookout and killed her passenger, Barbara Schwarz, reached a verdict that would see Toyota paying $3 million in compensatory damages, a confidential settlement was reached. The jury, which had found Toyota liable for "reckless disregard" for public safety, had yet to decide what punitive damages Toyota would face.
Toyota said in a statement, "While we strongly disagree with the verdict, we are satisfied that the parties reached a mutually acceptable agreement to settle this case. We will continue to defend our products vigorously at trial in other legal venues."
