Selling our 2010 Prius.  This is a family car from a non-smoking family.  Pets were not transported in this vehicle.  The tires were recently replaced with New Bridgestone Ecopia tires, and at the same time the Alignment was done.  I also did an Oil Changed w/ Mobil 1 0w20 and replaced the Wiper Blades, AND just paid the registration.  The car was also detailed a month ago.  The car drives straight, has no funny smells, and we get between 43 & 46 mpg with were we drive.  We are only selling due to our kids extracurricular activities necessitated a Truck.

This is a highly optioned level 3 Prius.  Here are the additional options.

  • Navigation w/ JBL sound system & 4 disc in dash CD Changer
  • Back-up Camera
  • Bluetooth - play music from your phone too!
  • Steering Wheel controls
  • Keyless entry - proximity sensor
  • Chrome wheel caps

The bad - car does have a salvage title from an accident at 22k miles.  We bought the car after the repairs were done and have had no issues from the accident.  The seller did not provide me pictures, but told me that it was in the front end and did NOT deploy the air bags.  AUTOCHECK is incorrect with the 2nd accident and I am trying to get this fixed.  Also, the mileage representation is due to the digital dash not operable after the accident and DMV being too lazy to get the accurate mileage.  I did get in contact with the prior owner (not the seller) and she confirmed this, as well as, told me the story - She briefly looked down at her phone as coming to an intersection and the person in front of her suddenly stopped.  She claims that she wasn't going that fast and the since the airbags didn't go off it makes sense.

Terms: The car is being sold as is.  It is the buyers responsibility to have car fully inspected, as there will be no refunds, exchanges, discounts or whatever.  Car is being sold as is, where is, and will be made available for inspection.  If you fail to do your own inspection, then you are accepting the car as is and all faults known or unknown.  I will be very clear here:  it is NOT my responsibility to list any type of defect, or problem as each person views these differently.  YOUR inspection of the vehicle to make any claim on defects or problems.  I will not be responsible for any problems or defects after the vehicle has been released from my ownership.  The vehicle is not covered by any warranties, nor will I make a warranty against any problems, defects, issues, situations, breakage, failures, or discoveries.

Please email me for local contact information - I am located in Camarillo in the county of Ventura.  I am 30-35 minutes north of Woodland hills or 40 minutes south of Santa Barbara.  I am not interested in shipping this car.  I am able to make arrangements for pickup, but only after payment has cleared.  I am willing to work with a broker, but it must be mentioned before any offer is accepted.  I will only accept a verifiable Bank issued Cashier's check that I can cash at any local bank.  I will not accept any international funds, offers, or transactions.

Impala crashes into Land Cruiser... to hide from a cheetah

Fri, 12 Jul 2013

What would you do if a wild animal jumped into your vehicle through an open window during an African safari? What if said animal was an impala being chased by cheetahs? Though the scenario seems unbelievable, that's just what happened to a group of tourists in Kruger National Park in South Africa, and it was all caught on video.
With the tour groups stopped, a motorist with a video camera handy happens to catch the unlikely sight of a herd of impalas (not that kind of Impala) jumping over the tarmac while being followed, quickly of course, by two cheetahs. The feline predators thought they had cornered one impala and were closing in for the kill when it jumped through the open window of a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado - South Africa's version of the Lexus GX. Fortunately for the occupants of said vehicle, the cheetahs did not follow.
A short while later, one of the occupants in the Toyota fearlessly opens a door to let the poor animal out. It must have been its lucky day, because the cheetahs didn't take pursuit. Check out the circle life get interrupted by this traffic jam in the video below.

Toyota settles for $3M after being found liable in sudden acceleration case

Sat, 26 Oct 2013

A jury has decided that faulty software was to blame for a crash involving a 2005 Toyota Camry that killed one woman and injured another. This is the first time Toyota has been found liable by a jury in a lawsuit involving sudden acceleration claims. Toyota has maintained that driver error is the most likely cause for cases of sudden acceleration.
Shortly after the jury in the case, which took place in Oklahoma and centered around a crash that injured 76-year-old Jean Bookout and killed her passenger, Barbara Schwarz, reached a verdict that would see Toyota paying $3 million in compensatory damages, a confidential settlement was reached. The jury, which had found Toyota liable for "reckless disregard" for public safety, had yet to decide what punitive damages Toyota would face.
Toyota said in a statement, "While we strongly disagree with the verdict, we are satisfied that the parties reached a mutually acceptable agreement to settle this case. We will continue to defend our products vigorously at trial in other legal venues."

Vice chronicles Okinawa's illegal street racing scene

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

We all know that street racing is dangerous, and that motorsports are best left on the track or drag strip. However, that doesn't mean that there still isn't some outlaw allure among enthusiasts of racing on public roads. In this video, Vice Japan profiles Eikichi Nagayoshi of Japan's island of Okinawa. He is a used car dealer by day and an illegal racer by night.
Nagayoshi has a deep love for his highly customized Toyota Aristo (better known to us as a first-generation Lexus GS) that he claims produces over 1,000 horsepower and has hit 205 miles per hour. He races his car both on drag strips and in drifting competitions, but says that he often has to ship the car to mainland Japan to compete. In the absence of those opportunities, he sometimes gathers friends and takes the racing to the public roads. While we're not down with street racing, this Vice video is an intriguing personality piece, as well as a look into Japan's fabled underground racing scene. Scroll down to check out the video, but make sure you have the "CC" button clicked, because several portions are subtitled.
