FOR SALE: 2004 Toyota Prius Base Hatchback. 4-cylinder, automatic transmission. Power brakes, power locks, power steering. This is a two-owner, NON-SMOKING car. This is a fuel-stingy FULL hybrid.  It has a good set of tires on it too. Comes with a "smart key". Insures you'll never lock yourself out of your car again and with the smart key in your pocket or purse, it's a simple one button touch to start your car. The features of this vehicle will spoil you quickly.

The buyer will receive a FREE AutoCheck Report with the purchase of this vehicle. It scored an 87. In the interest of full disclosure, the car was involved in what the report describes as a "minor accident". It was obviously fully repaired and there is no evident damage. We've had this car for a while and it runs and drives great. We've addressed the issues with the ABS and the VCS lights, though they won't clear - we've put the money into the repairs. Has a good, solid hybrid battery and has enjoyed regular oil changes and maintenance.

We don't want to oversell this vehicle, but want to assure you it's a good, solid little car that should last someone another 100,000 miles with regular maintenance.

You're buying from a small family dealership that's been in business for over 20 years. We proudly sell decent used cars and trucks at an affordable price. We don't work off a huge profit margin, we don't charge hidden fees like some dealerships, just to complete some pretty standard paperwork and we encourage you to fully inspect the cars before buying. If you'd like to make an appointment to see the Prius or take a test drive, call Carol at 816-739-4888 or 816-678-0099. We are starting off this NO RESERVE AUCTION for a mere 99 cents!

THANKS SO MUCH FOR LOOKING AND HAPPY BIDDING!

We reserve the right to end sale early, as the car is being advertised locally. $500 nonrefundable deposit due immediately at the end of the auction. Final payment due within 7 days of the end of the auction. We report non-paying bidders.

Toyota FCV Concept comes one step closer to reality

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

When Toyota first conceptualized a gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle for mainstream Americans to drive, the initial response was pretty skeptical. Still, through relentless engineering and solid product after solid product, Toyota has built the Prius brand into the dominant force in the hybrid car market.
Something like that plan of attack is what the Japanese company is preparing for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, as well, and that attack is seeing a critical salvo fired today with the debut of this FCV Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Though there's nothing substantive to be said about rumors of a 300-mile range or a sticker price around $50,000, the FCV concept does offer a few technical details. The sharp-beaked concept makes use of two high-pressure hydrogen tanks and boasts a power output density of three kilowatts per liter.

Rod Millen to face Monster Tajima in Electric Division of Pikes Peak Hill Climb

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

The 91st running of the Pike's Peak International Hill Climb is scheduled to begin on June 30. Like last year's event, the 12.42 mile course - fully paved these days - starts at 9,390 feet elevation and doesn't stop climbing until it reaches an impressive 14,110 feet (the air is so thin up there that the FAA requires pilots to use oxygen at that altitude).
There will be an assortment of internal combustion machines racing to the summit, entries from France, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Sweden, Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland and Belgium, but all eyes will be on the electric showdown between Rod Millen and Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima, from Japan. 61-year-old Millen is a familiar name to Toyota racing fans, and he will be driving the Toyota TMG EV P002 (it won the Electric title last year), while Tajima will be again piloting the Monster Sport E-Runner (which was forced out of the field last year after a fire broke out).
Other entrants include Rhys Millen driving a 2013 Hyundai PM58OT and Paul Dallenbach, who will be driving Millen's Hyundai Genesis Coupe (it set the all-time speed mark last year).

Toyota FT-86 Open Concept leaves us feeling flushed

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

When last we checked in on our topless would-be hero, the Toyota FT-86 convertible had been reportedly placed on "indefinite hold." That was back in early October, not long after Toyota had trotted out the rear-wheel-drive canvasback to Scion dealers as a possible future product carrot if they decided not to turn in their franchises. And yet, we're here at the Tokyo Motor Show, where Toyota has taken the time to at least repaint the FT-86 Open Concept in "Flash Red," if not build a whole other car (the original Geneva showcar was white). It's enough to make our heads spin like a teenager on the verge of a breakup. Will they? Won't they?
At this point, we still don't know any more than you do - the last word we heard out of Toyota was not encouraging, although the story was that the program could still be fast-tracked if management had a change of heart. As the car has never been seen before in Japan, perhaps Toyota is merely extending its domestic audience a courtesy view before it lines this showcar in mothballs, or maybe they're still trying to make a decision on its fate and gauging public reaction on the homefront.
Interestingly, in a new story published today, Automotive News quotes Subaru brand boss Yasuyuki Yoshinaga downplaying the likelihood of a production model, saying flatly "We make the car, so if we don't make it, it can't happen." The executive went on to note, "Our engineering department told me that losing the entire roof requires a complete redesign of the structure. It would need a big change." Given that such a car would probably trade in rather small volumes, that sounds like a significant hurtle.
