I'm selling my MR2. It's a 91 turbo T-top car with 147890 miles. I've had this car for 8 years now. Last fall I hydroplaned and rear ended a lady. The front is busted up some and it has been sitting ever since. Here's what's on and done to the car.

New rear ball joints
New rear stabilizer bar link bars
New rear tie rod ends
Most if not all the brackets and suspension parts like control arms are powder coated black
2.5 inch SMIC and Piping
Synapse Blow off valve
Synapse wast gate
Urthane motor mounts
Deck lid shock
Rebuilt and powder coated rear brake calipers with new toyota pads
E-brake cables replace 4 years ago
White faced gauges with blue LED bulbs
Oil pressure gauge in place of the factory boost gauge
Glow shift white faced boost and oil temp gauge
Panasonic head unit with direct connect for first gen iPod
Infinity Kapa Perfect speakers
two amps... one for subs that I never put in and the other for the speakers
KYB gas adjustable shocks
Eibach lowering Springs
Cross drilled and slotted rotors
New T-top Seals
Glow shift oil filter sandwich

Whats not on the car

TRD head gasket
ARP head studs
engel valve springs
Spare ECU
Spare FPR
Supra injectors
Supra fuel pump

I also have the factory bumpers and side scoops, the headliner inserts for the T-tops, owners manual, window sticker, the original head unit and speakers, miscellaneous turbo parts, original intercooler and tubes, and a JDM LSD transmission I started to rebuild and never finished putting the case back together but all the bearing and syncro's are already in. The ignition switch and tumbler started going bad and I removed it and put in a make shift push button to hold me over till I replaced it. I saved the original because its not that bad and can be put back in.

This car does run and drive. With new tires and a working horn it will pass Pennsylvania safety inspection. I also have a set of passable tires that go with it.

Car and Driver shows off awesome 1960s ads

Fri, Sep 11 2015

Someone must have recently rediscovered the keys to the archives at Car and Driver, and the access has been put to good use. Following last month's fantastic look at automotive ads from the '50s, there's now a new gallery running from March 1960 through December 1969. This collection provides a great overview of a decade full of iconic cars. If you're a fan of Carroll Shelby, particularly his Mustangs, then there's a lot to love among this group. One ad from July 1965 aimed to sell the GT350, but with an ocean of text and a tiny picture, it probably could've used a once-over by Don Draper's team. By December '65, the copywriters ironed out the problems with a spot proclaiming boldly "Shelby GT350 is 'Son of Cobra.'" The company offered some great accessories, too. For those into European motoring, there's a humorous attempt to sell the Alfa Romeo Giulia as both a racecar and family hauler. Toyota also boasts about the winning record for the 2000GT. Among the best text comes from BMW for lines like: "What's BMW got? The most advanced high-performance engine in any production car, for a cruising speed of 100 mph." Of course, Volkswagen's famous "Lemon" ad for the Beetle also gets its due here. Separately, each of these ads is fascinating, but taken together they tell the story of a great decade of motoring. Go give them all a read at Car and Driver. Automakers donating money, vehicles and supplies to Oklahoma tornado relief effort

Fri, 24 May 2013

Judging by the destruction the Oklahoma City area experienced earlier this week, residents are going to need a lot of help in coming months. Fortunately, a number of automakers - including General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Volkswagen, Honda and Toyota - have stepped up to donate money, supplies and vehicles to aid in the recovery and rebuilding processes.
Here's a quick rundown of which automakers have pitched in and what each contributed so far:
Ford Motor Company has donating $250,000 and a Transit Connect to the American Red Cross, and it will match all other donations made to the Red Cross (up to $250,000) using a special URL tied to the latter's website (link here). Additionally, its local Oklahoma dealers have thrown in an extra $150,000 for the United Way and the automaker will be offering an extra $500 toward the purchase of a new Ford vehicle.

Safety Agency Studying Toyota Acceleration Problem

Mon, Sep 29 2014

A U.S. safety agency is looking into a consumer's petition alleging that older Toyota Corollas can accelerate unexpectedly at low speeds and cause crashes. The inquiry by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration covers about 1.69 million of the Corolla compact cars from the 2006 to 2010 model years. The agency will decide whether to open a formal investigation into the problem. An unidentified consumer said in a letter to the agency that he experienced multiple low-speed surges in a 2010 Corolla, and the brakes failed to stop the car in time to prevent a crash. The consumer said the problem caused one collision with a parked vehicle on June 8. "In addition to evidence from our crash incident, we are providing evidence that many other Corolla owners are experiencing similarly unsafe scenarios that are leading to crashes," said a portion of the consumer's letter posted Monday on NHTSA's website. The consumer provided 163 reports from other drivers who experienced a surge at low speed or no speed. But NHTSA said it eliminated duplicates, those outside the scope of the 2006-2010 model years and those from foreign countries to get 141. No injuries were reported. The agency said it would evaluate all of the complaints from the consumer in order to decide whether to grant or deny the petition and open a formal investigation. The consumer filed the petition on Sept. 11, according to the documents. Messages were left Monday morning seeking comment from Toyota. In 2009 and 2010, Toyota issued a series of recalls totaling more than 10 million vehicles for various problems including faulty brakes, sticky gas pedals and ill-fitting floor mats. Toyota is under pressure to announce recalls quickly after a U.S. government investigation found it hid information about past defects. Last month, the company agreed to pay $1.2 billion to settle that investigation. It also paid fines totaling $66 million to the U.S. government for delays in reporting unintended acceleration problems. The company has said it made "fundamental changes to become a more responsive and customer-focused organization, and we are committed to continued improvements."
