Regrettably selling my beautiful FJ80 as we are moving to Europe and will not be taking it with us, nor are we storing it. Instead we are storing our 78 FJ40.

Be the lucky owner of this well maintained, great condition Land Cruiser. NO RUST. Factory FRONT and REAR Locking Differentials!

She has 194k miles and drives like a dream, straight, powerful and smooth. Land Cruisers are known to run for a VERY long time, this vehicle is at half life or less. We own three land cruisers and have owned several others (we will always own at least one for the rest of our lives). These are great machines that will take you anywhere you want to go while being safe, secure, and comfortable doing it.

The color is a bluish metallic gray. Very sharp.

It has a 3" Old Man Emu lift on it with Sky Jacker shocks.

Low profile extreme duty bumper with 8800lb winch. Comes with a wired controller and a wireless remote.

Gray leather interior is in great shape! No rips or tears (not even on the driver's seat! That's rare!). Some mild fading and wear but it is all there and intact. This seats 7 with removable, fold up rear seats.

All windows and sun roof work great.

No stains in the carpet or ceiling. NON Smoking and no pets or kids!!!

A DVD player is installed and a back up camera comes with it, but hasn't been installed. I have the original stereo that will come with the vehicle.

DVD Player has Bluetooth to sync with your phone for talking through the stereo system and to sync music to play through a phone or iPod.

It does NOT take or leak oil or any other fluids. HOT heat and COLD A/C!

A few of the mentionable items that anyone needs to know who is interested:
There is a small hole in the exhaust so it's a little louder but doesn't cause any damage. There are some paint scratches on the side of the body as well as some UV sun fading to the roof of the vehicle, nothing noticeable from the ground. The trim around the windows on the exterior doors is a rubber lining that is peeling off, but it's chrome underneath and the rubber could all be pulled off to make it look better. There is a crack on the dash board (this is common) above the steering wheel. The plastic shroud/cover around the steering column behind the steering wheels is cracked and could be replaced. The leather on the drivers door above the handle is worn (where you would put your arm while you're driving). It shakes a little above 70mph, I've been told this is because of the oversized tires and wheels. Everything is straight and aligned.

This will be a tough vehicle to pardon from. I have owned 3 FJ80's, 2 FJ60/62's, an FJ40 and a 100 series and this has proven to be the most fun and reliable. We talked about storing it or shipping it to Europe (gulp), but decided we'd let it go to the next best home for someone to enjoy and buy something fun and unique over in Europe!

Any questions, please let me know. Happy bidding!

Toyota raises Japanese base wages for first time since 2008

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

Toyota is on track for record profits, and in return, its Japanese workers are receiving their first increase in base wages since 2008, plus higher pay based on seniority and a larger bonus for 2014. The Japanese automaker predicts the average laborer will net a 2.9 percent income gain.
The average Toyota employee will earn 2,700 yen ($26.28) more each month, a 0.8 percent increase from last year. Workers will also receive about 7,300 yen ($71.09) more monthly based on seniority and promotions. Finally, the company's union pushed through a median bonus of 2.44 million yen ($23,768) for 2014, the highest in 6 years.
The pay boost comes as Toyota forecasts a record 1.9-trillion yen ($18.5 billion) profit for the fiscal year ending on March 31, according to Bloomberg. It has been helped by the Japanese government's efforts to weaken the yen on international markets and expand inflation. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been asking businesses to increase compensation to end years of deflation and offset upcoming higher sales taxes. Honda and Nissan have also raised their wages there in recent months.

Toyota Prius gets higher clearance, better suspension in Pakistan

Thu, Jan 2 2014

It's been 16 years since the Toyota Prius launched in Japan. Finally, the world's most popular hybrid is becoming the first hybrid car to show up in Pakistan. This version of the Prius has been customized by Indus Motor Company (IMC) in order to deal with, well, let's just say some challenging road conditions. IMC knows what it's doing, and has modified Toyota and Daihatsu vehicles for the Pakistani market for over 20 years. The Prius brings with it the iconic shape and Parvez Ghias, CEO of IMC, told The Technology Times that the car's arrival, "is indeed a great milestone, not only in the history of IMC, but, of the entire nation." Pakistan Today says that IMC is beefing up the ground clearance of the imported Priuses and adds a "robust suspension system." Why would this be important? Well, the US Department of State warns travelers to beware of crowded roads, aggressive and poorly trained drivers and bad roads that could include potholes and sharp drop-offs. Then there's the "donkeys, cattle, horse carts, and even the occasional camel [that] can pose roadside hazards in some areas." There's also the big problem of terrorism-related violence in Pakistan, but we haven't heard that the Pakistan Prius has been bullet- and shrapnel-proofed.

Expedition drives from Russia to Canada over North Pole...

Tue, 21 May 2013

No, a Ford Expedition did not drive from Russia to Canada via the North Pole, but that's exactly what a team of intrepid explorers accomplished recently. Using specially-modified buses with massive tires, the group slowly drove 2,485 miles in 70 days over drifting ice, occasionally using a pickaxe to clear a path and staying on guard for chasms that could open up and plunge the team into the frigid arctic waters. Average speeds were about 6 mph, "at the speed of a (farm) tractor." While the big tires technically allowed the buses to float if the need arose, the team preferred to stay out of the water to keep the suspension from getting coated in thick, hard ice. Falling in on foot would mean almost certain death.
According to Phys.org, the buses were powered by Toyota diesel engines, but were built with prototype parts from a previous driving expedition to the North Pole. Right now, the machines are parked in a garage in Canada's Resolute Bay while the the team rests up with family back home. They plan to continue their trek to back across the Bering Straight to Russia. If successful, the team may eventually offer a version of their buses for commercial sale.
