I bought it from the dealer who bought it from the original owner. My intention was to make an expedition vehicle out of it. I also have a LX470 which my wife is not willing to part with. Therefore I am selling the 1996 Toyota along with my 1987 Land Cruiser which I will list soon. The issues that I have noticed are as follows: the right rear door lock actuator doesn't work, there are two small dings on the rear hatch and the drivers seat moves but can hang up on occasion."

You are looking at a very clean 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser with the rare option DL (factory front and rear diff lockers which have been recently serviced and work!)  The tires are brand new General Grabber HTS's with only 15 miles on them.  I bought it from a leasing company/dealer  who bought it from the original owner. It has lived in California the entire time.  Other factory options include Alloy Wheels, Leather Trim Package, Power Tilt/Slide Glass Moonroof, Rear Wind Deflector and Burlwood Dash (DU).  This Land Cruiser starts, drives and runs great.  It easily passed California smog in May and has one new catalytic converter.  The Carfax is clean with no accidents reported.  The Carfax also shows extensive maintenance at the local Toyota dealers.  Cosmetically this car looks about as good as it gets for a 96.  I listed the small things that I have noticed need attention.  Feel free to contact me with any questions.  I will try to respond quickly and accurately.  Thank you for taking the time to read this and good luck bidding.

Question of the Day: What (non-Skyline) JDM car to import?

Wed, Apr 13 2016

I have been looking into the idea of bringing a four-wheel-drive kei van over from Japan, something like a Honda Street or perhaps even a Mitsubishi Minicab Bravo Route 66, and so I have been researching the various bureaucratic hoops I must jump through in order to bring such a car into my state (Colorado). When I finally tracked down the state official who knew the answers, his very first words were "OK, so what year Skyline do you want to register here?" Yes, Nissan's not-sold-over-here factory-hot-rod of the 1980s and 1990s is what gets shipped over most often, but there are other worthy JDM vehicles. Say, for example, a stunning 1990 Mitsuoka Le Seyde (above), which was far classier than the Excalibur and based on the sporty S13 Nissan Silvia, aka 240SX. Of course, the king of JDM cars is the mighty Toyota Century, and you can get nice legal-to-import examples for reasonable prices. No, you can't get the V12 Century legally – yet; the V12-powered cars don't hit the 25-year-old mark until 2022. So, what's your choice for a 1991 or earlier Japanese-market car to import, assuming that the Skyline is off the table? Reprising The Recipe For A Perfect Slice Of Toast
My toaster broke the other week. Halfway through the process of cooking my gourmet Pop-Tart breakfast, the thing crapped out with a small bang, leaving my delicious morning treats trapped inside. To rectify the situation, I ventured out to a big box store, located the toaster aisle, and ran a couple of questions through my mind. Do I need two slots or four? Do I need to spend more than 20 bucks on this thing? Should I just buy a toaster oven to give me a wider range of bachelor-pad cooking functionality? After no more than two minutes of contemplation, I grabbed the cheapest one on the shelf, paid and left the store. The new toaster works just fine.
This sort of unemotional shopping experience is how I suspect people decide to purchase the Toyota Corolla. It's a perfectly fine appliance, and to a good number of people in the world, the bond between a car and a driver is no more important than the connection I feel to my toaster. Does it seat four people relatively comfortably? Does it get decent fuel economy? Is it easy to drive? Reliable? Safe? The Corolla checks all of these boxes, and because of that, Toyota managed to move just under 300,000 examples of the tenth-generation car in 2012 (though that number does include sales of the Corolla-based, now-deceased Matrix) - a vehicle that, at the time, was already six years old.
