OVERVIEW: This is a very well kept example of unmodified 1994 FZJ80 Land Cruiser with only 73k miles, 3rd row seats, and optional front and rear Differential Locks.  I recently bought this FZJ80 to build up for off road use, but it is so clean I can't bare to alter it.  I will attempt to explain to the best of my knowledge in detail the condition of everything.  If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me via email.  If you'd like leave me your number, we can talk over the phone.

HISTORY: I've only owned this vehicle for a month or so.  I purchased it from a gentleman in San Jose, CA who had recently inherited it from the passing of his brother.  He stated his brother had owned it since it was "almost new".  He also stated this was only one of seven cars he had just inherited from his brother inluding a bunch of high end sports cars and that when they were not being driven they were garaged in what he said was a huge 10+ car garage, (hence the low mileage, and condition). Clean title and pink slip is in my name and in hand.  It looks as though I am the 4th owner. The third owner was the guy I bought it from and he had it since 10/17/13.  His brother, 2nd owner, had it since 4/2/97 with 47k miles.

EXTERIOR: Color is Dark Emerald Pearl Green.  Appears to be the original paint with no signs of clear coat fading.  There are a handful of tiny paint touch up spots on different areas of the vehicle apparently from the previous owner.  Has factory roof rack, factory running boards, factory mud flaps, tow package with wiring harness.  See link to pictures for all details of any imperfections that caught my eye.

INTERIOR:  Gray interior is very clean. There is no evidence of tabacco / smoking use. Leather Seats are in great condition including the 3rd row seats, with power seats working in all directions.  Driver seat has the most wear but no rips or tears, (see picture link).  Carpet is very clean throughout with factory floor mats for front, middle, 3rd row, (had never seen the narrow 3rd row floor mat before) and rear cargo mat.  Door panels and headliner are very clean.  All interior and dash lights work as they should, (even the often burned out "D" light still illuminates on the dash!). Sunroof tilts and opens/closes as intended.  I poured water down all four sunroof drains and they all flowed to the grounds smoothly. All power
locks, mirrors and windows work properly.  All buttons and options work as they should.  A/C, (R134), blows ice cold, and heater works great, including rear heater and controls.  Factory manual included.  Two sets of factory keys with viper alarm included, but alarm is currently not working.  Wiring appears to be hooked up but main fuse is pulled.  I attempted to put a fuse in it which made the alarm sound. Fuse is currently pulled.  It is also equiped with the factory TVSS (Toyota Vehicle Security System) control box is still under driver seat.

SUSPENSION/RUNNING GEAR/TIRES: It appears to have the factory coil springs with very clean, (or perhaps newer), Bilstiens in all corners. The 4.5L inline 6 runs smooth, and A442F transmission shifts smoothly.  Power steering works well with no issues.  Coolant is red in color, consistant with factory Toyota coolant.  Engine oil is full, with no signs of water/coolant mixing.  Brake, Auto Transmission, transfer case, front/rear axle fluids are all properly full with no signs of over use, neglect or metal filings.  No apparent coolant, oil or gear fluid leaks.  Front axle knuckles look clean and free of leaks.  No engine codes or check engine lights.  Air filter is the factory Toyota washable type.  Tires are Toyo Open Country 275/70R16 and look practically new, with lots of tread, (see pictures) with no cupping or uneven wear marks.  Factory spare has  Michelin 275/70R16 in factory location.  Factory  jack and tool kit included.

DRIVE/4WD: It accelerates and drives fantastic down the road at all speeds, no shimmies, shakes or pulling to either side.  The ABS power brakes operate properly and stop great.  Four Wheel Drive; The 4wd low shifts as it should which activates the CDL and ABS lights to illuminate on the dash.  Both the front and rear differential lockers activate within a matter of seconds.  When activating the front or rear differential the selinoid can be heard activating each locker which changes each blinking light on the dash to stay on solid.  Lockers and 4wd hi/low both work great!

PAYMENT: $500 due via paypal within 3 days of auction end, (if you don't have paypal, contact me before bidding and we can work something out). The remaining balance due upon vehicle pickup in for the form of cash, cashiers check or money transfer, (we could even meet at a bank if you prefer, I've heard bad stories about fake cashiers checks).

SHIPPING: Winning bidder will need to make arrangements for picking vehicle up from my location.

I reserve the right to end auction early since the vehicle is available for sale locally too.

Currently California smogged, and in smog cert in CA database which is good for 90 days.  Smog performed on 2/18/2014.

Junkyard Gem: 2004 Pontiac Vibe GT

Fri, Jun 26 2020

The New United Motor Manufacturing plant in Fremont, California, built Toyota-derived machinery — badged as Toyotas, Chevrolets, Geos, and Pontiacs— from 1984 through 2010, and some of the very last vehicles that left the assembly line were Pontiac Vibes. The Vibe, sibling to the Toyota Matrix, mostly served as a ho-hum transportation appliance and/or fleet car, but a factory-hot-rod GT version could be purchased. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those rare GTs, complete with the nearly unheard-of six-speed manual transmission, found in a self-service yard in northeastern Colorado. The regular Vibe had 123 or 130 horsepower, depending on the number of driven wheels, but the Vibe GT got the same 1.8-liter 2ZZ engine that went into the Celica GT-S. 180 horsepower, which was enough to make the 2,800-pound Vibe GT keep up with the 3,108-pound/215-horse Chrysler PT Cruiser Turbo that year. Sadly, no race series pitting Vibe GTs against PT Cruiser Turbos and Chevy HHR SSs on road courses ever materializedÂ… but it's not too late. The Vibe GT has something you couldn't get in a PT Cruiser or Chevy HHR, though: a six-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. In fact, the six-speed was the only transmission offered in the early Vibe GTs (an automatic became an option later on). You'll find plenty of three-pedal econoboxes from this era, because they were significantly cheaper than their slushbox-equipped counterparts, but the Vibe GT had plenty of competition from sportier-looking cars with manual transmissions in 2004. Not many were sold. This car is covered with nasty dents from golf-ball-sized hail (all too common in High Plains Colorado), so it may have been an insurance total that nobody wanted at auction. Sold in Wyoming, will be crushed in an adjacent state. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Fuel for the soul. Toyota had right-hand-drive Matrixes brought over to Japan from Canada, but a NUMMI-built version of the Vibe could be purchased there for a few years as well. This was the Voltz, and its advertising seems notably frantic even by the standards of Japanese car commercials.

Toyota finds profit in Europe thanks to hybrid sales

Thu, Jun 5 2014

In the land of diesel, Toyota appears to be making money its own way and thereby making more of it. The Japanese automaker is taking on Europe's diesel-centric ways by substantially boosting sales of hybrids on the continent. That, along with cost cutting measures, has increased the company's European profitability, Automotive News says, citing recent remarks by Toyota's European operations chief Didier Leroy. Toyota, which lost money in Europe between 2008 and 2011, started turning things around two years ago by cutting labor at places like UK factories while consolidating production of models such as the Auris and Yaris hybrid vehicles. During the most recently completed financial year, Toyota Europe reported earnings that were up 75 percent from the year before, despite revenue being up just five percent. The company also aims to sell at least 1 million vehicles in Europe by next year and is boosting sales in countries like Russia. Late last year, Didier told Bloomberg News that Toyota's European market share was rising about one percentage point a year, while production at Toyota's factories in countries like France, Turkey and the UK were running at full capacity. Toyota estimated at the time that hybrids accounted for about a fifth of Toyota's European sales.
