Here is your chance to buy the legend. 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. 1982 - one of the most coveted years for FJ40's ever!! I can't believe I'm actually selling this bad boy. This may be one of your last chances to purchase such an awesome machine. These vehicles continue to climb in value and are getting harder and harder to find, especially in this type of condition.

It has the original bulletproof inline six cylinder 2F motor with 134k original miles. It has an Aqualu aluminum tub that was installed about 8 or 9 years ago, according to the previous owner. Last year my Cruiser mechanic and I went through the entire motor and rebuilt and replaced a huge amount of parts. We replaced the front and rear motor mounts, radiator fan, all new heating, cooling, and emission hoses, rebuilt the carburetor and distributor, new spark plugs and wires, fuel pump, fixed all oil leaks and replaced gaskets and seals, replaced the clutch master cylinder, replaced the heater blower resistor (to enable the low fan setting for the heater). All OEM Toyota parts were utilized whenever possible.

In addition to the engine work, we also reupholstered the front seats with Cruiser Corps covers, provided a new dash cap cover, installed a new radio delete plate, replaced the brake, gas and clutch pedal pads, overhauled a new (used) set of 5 OEM Toyota rims with Toyota OEM paint and OEM Toyota chrome center caps, installed a brand new ARB front bumper with an overhauled Warn 8274 winch that works great, including new bumper gussets, installed a Man-a-Fre rear swing out tire carrier with cooler carrier, hitch and Hi-Lift jack attachment, aftermarket mirrors, OEM fuel cap, OEM rear seat straps, OEM Toyota emblems, rear heater lines, and jack and jack rod clips (I realize they were not ’82 specific but work and look great nonetheless). Tires are 31x10.5x15 BFG A/T with excellent tread, although the spare is fairly worn.

The Cruiser starts and runs great. The only known issues with the Cruiser are that the hardtop does have some spots of rust and needs a new headliner. I have a brand new headliner ready to install that will go with the Cruiser. The white on the hardtop is not OEM Toyota and will need to be updated to match the wheels and bezel. There is also a leak in the front driver side knuckle and I also have the rebuild kit that will also go with the Cruiser. I just didn’t have time to install. There is also a small leak between the transmission and transfer case that is very common with the FJ40’s.

I also have a lot of extra parts that will be included with the sale: Aqualu tailgate for when the ambulance doors are removed, fuel door cover with retainer bracket, bikini top with sunroof with all hardware, additional OEM radiator, aftermarket chrome front bumper, extra Toyota brown jack (for all you purists out there), OEM spare tire carrier (gray), radio antenna, aftermarket cup holder, Toyota touch up paint, and a box of additional nuts and bolts.

All in all this FJ40 is in great shape and turns heads wherever it goes. I have additional photos that I can email upon request. It is a 30+ year old vehicle and is in used condition and is being sold AS IS. I am only asking what I have invested in the Cruiser and it is a no reserve auction. Don’t miss your chance to own the last of one of the greatest vehicles ever made. Please email any questions prior to bidding. The vehicle is located in Northwest Colorado but could be delivered to the SLC or Portland, OR for an additional shipping fee. Please confirm prior to bidding. Please take care of my baby!!

The Toyota GT86 Shooting Brake Concept is real

Fri, May 6 2016

As a two-door wagon the shooting brake exists at the unusual but captivating intersection between practicality and sportiness. This Toyota GT86 Shooting Brake Concept is no different – it's a standard GT86, with no mechanical alterations save the grafted-on wagonette roof and hatch. It's fully functional, too, having turned some laps on Toyota's test tracks. It even has the blessing of Tetsuya Tada, the father of the Toyota 86 and its Subaru BRZ and (now rebadged) Scion FR-S, who's been protective of the original GT86 concept to the point of strenuously resisting any serious power upgrades. This isn't the first shooting brake concept we've seen from the Toyobaru twins, but it's the first Toyota-badged one. Subaru brought the Cross Sport Design Concept to the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. So how did the GT86 Shooting Brake Concept happen? The story, as Toyota tells it, involves the company's Australian design team. They created a 1/4-scale clay model of the shooting brake, and showed it to Tada when he visited in late 2014. He was so impressed, Toyota says, that he had his hand-picked craftsman in Japan bring the idea to full-scale fruition. The Australian design team, in the outdoor-loving spirit of their country, immediately thought that the longer roof would be perfect for carrying surfboards and other unwieldy sports equipment. And it would be. Meanwhile, Tada and the rest of the Toyota corporation want to tamp down expectations. It's a design study, the company says, and it's just "testing the waters." Toyota won't rule anything out, and Mazda recently surprised everyone with the MX-5 RF's unusual and attractive targa model. Maybe in a world where Mazda felt confident enough to introduce the RF, Toyota can be daring enough to bring a sporty wagon to the masses. We can hope, and maybe if we all make enough noise together Toyota will make it a reality. Will Toyota lose up to 70% of its workforce in TX relocation?

Mon, 17 Nov 2014

Toyota's decision to move its US headquarters from its longtime home in Torrance, CA, to Plano, TX, was one of the biggest stories in the automotive industry this spring. With several months since the announcement, more details about the plan have leaked out. It seems that pulling up stakes could mean an even larger shakeup in the Toyota workforce than first thought.
According to Automotive News, Toyota intends to hang onto around 50 percent of its workforce in the move to the Lone Star State. However, even that figure might be optimistic. According to an unnamed insider speaking to AN, there is a fear the actual number could be closer to 30 percent. For comparison, Nissan retained about 42 percent of its workers in its move from California to Tennessee.
The actual percentage making the move is a mystery because Toyota is still rewriting its job descriptions under a single set of guidelines. The changes affect benefits, bonuses and the reporting structure, according to Automotive News, and employees' reactions could play a big role in who decides to go. According to an unnamed worker speaking to AN, the wait is hurting morale. Some people are even applying at the nearby Honda headquarters.

Paul Walker's Supra sells for $185k

Tue, May 19 2015

The Fast and the Furious certainly didn't create the import car hobby, but the 2001 film played a role in popularizing it among a mass audience. Among the biggest automotive stars to come from the movie was the customized orange Toyota Supra driven by Paul Walker's character, Brian O'Connor. One of the stunt cars that portrayed that now-famous vehicle recently crossed the auction block at Mecum Auctions' sale in Indianapolis and sold for $185,000. This stunt car was showcased throughout the film, including in the final drag race against Dom's Dodge Charger, according to Mecum's listing. However, don't expect to be successful at living a quarter-mile at a time with this Supra, because under the hood there's a 220-horsepower, 3.0-liter inline six and five-speed manual. It certainly looks the part, with a full body kit, big wing at the back, wild graphics, and orange paint. Two Holley Performance nitrous oxide bottles are in the rear, but they aren't hooked up. For safety, there's a roll cage inside. The auction was estimated to fall between $150,000 and $200,000, which was right on the money. Following Walker's tragic death in 2013, cars related to him and the Fast and Furious franchise seem to be showing up for sale more often. His Nissan Skyline GT-R from Fast & Furious jumped in price afterward, and Barrett-Jackson auctioned his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution from 2 Fast 2 Furious in 2014.
