1974 Toyota Land Cruiser 4X4

You are viewing a very original unmolested Land Cruiser with only 88,703 original miles.  All original with one repaint survivor.  Owned for 15 years only 1K miles driven since purchase.  Repaint was done 10 years ago.  Recent complete service was done to the car including checking out all mechanicals, oil change, brake inspection, clutch master and slave cylinder replaced, original carb completely rebuilt, new antifreeze, front shock replaced, all gear oil replaced, lubed and a new battery.

Please read on for more particulars of the car:

Body/Paint:  The body is stock with no repair work ever done.  A few small rust issues.  Both sides of the bottom rear valance along with 3 places in the inside back.  One on the passenger side rear body mount and two others near where the rear seat belts anchor to the body.  Easy repairs.  The body as a whole is in excellent condition.  One repaint.  The original color is red with white top.  The repaint red is close, but not the same as the original red and is single stage enamel.  Good condition, but not a show finish.

Interior:  The interior is in very good original condition with bucket seats that have been recovered.  The rear seats are original.  Back seat heater system.  Everything works on the car.

Running Gear:  All original to the car.  Runs and drives excellent with no known issues.  All work as they should.

Suspension:  Original and in very good condition with no rust issues at all.  The bottom of the car has been detailed when the car was serviced and is very clean.  Front shocks are new with the rears in good working order.

Bright work:  Very little bright work, but all finishes are in very good condition including the mirrors and supports.

Glass:  Original in very good condition.

Exhaust:  In good working order.

Brakes:  Inspected in good working order.

Wheels/Tires:  White spoke wheels with 235/75-15 radials with lots of rubber.  Very few miles.  Spare and rear mount come with the car.

Summary:  If you are seeking one of these very special and highly collectable cars to use for everyday use, woods, hunting or just to have fun with this car is certainly worthy of your consideration.  Great mechanical condition and never abused.  Don’t miss out on this affordable ride.  The price is reasonable.  I have over 100 pictures of the car so please contact me and provide your email address if you would like additional pictures.  Great value and quality build for the money.  Don’t let this beautiful ride slip away.

Disclaimer:

The car is for sale locally.  The owner has the right to cancel the auction at any time for any reason.  No warranties or guarantees are expressed or implied with the car being sold in "AS IS" condition.

Toyota and Suzuki are looking at an R&D partnership because they admit they're behind

Wed, Oct 12 2016

The Chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Osamu Suzuki, and the President of Toyota, Akio Toyoda, have convened at Toyota's Tokyo offices to declare plans to join hands regarding research and development. According to Toyoda, Toyota "hasn't been good at creating alliances," and its partnership with the small carmaker Daihatsu has been the most well-known collaboration so far. Perhaps the comment has a tinge of regret from Toyota and GM's NUMMI days in Fremont, especially as the statement released by Toyota says that "Toyota is conscious of the fact that it may be behind competitors in North America and Europe when it comes to the establishment of standardizations and partnership with other companies." But as different technologies advance at breakneck speed and it is difficult for companies both big and small to stay competitive, let alone ahead of the game, Toyota is accepting the need for collaboration. Toyoda referred to passenger safety, environmental issues, automated driving, and hydrogen technology, all of which are key challenges for any carmaker looking to stay relevant, and all expensive to experiment with. Spreading the cost over more vehicles should help. "We received an offer from Suzuki regarding collaboration possibilities on advanced and future technologies such as in information technology. Suzuki made a frank proposal to us, and in understanding that Toyota is facing the challenges which I had mentioned earlier, we thought that with the relationship between both companies, there is an opportunity for a business partnership to help solve such challenges. As such, we decided to explore such possibilities together," said Toyoda. In the future, Daihatsu will still be Toyota's tool in emerging markets, but now Toyota could have access to Suzuki's small-car know-how. Osamu Suzuki acknowledges that "Suzuki's current business focuses on minivehicles in Japan and India," as Suzuki withdrew from the US and Canada in 2013. A joint effort will help Suzuki remain relevant, and as a manufacturer of predominantly small vehicles it has been focusing on competitive pricing more than cutting edge technology. Related Video:

Toyota reveals Tokyo Motor Show concepts

Mon, 04 Nov 2013

Toyota is getting ready for the Tokyo Motor Show later this month, and to tease us, the Japanese automaker has released photos and information about the concept vehicles it'll be bringing to the show. In all, there'll be five world premieres from Toyota (six if you split the Voxy and Noah minivan concepts), including some vehicles that'll be released in the near future, and others that need more time to incubate.
Let's get the world premieres out first. Toyota is a pioneer of gasoline-electric hybrids, but it's also pursuing hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicles. The clearest indication of this is the FCV concept, a hydrogen-powered sedan in the same vein as the the FCV-R that will bow at the auto show. (Read more about the FCV, here.)
Other world debuts include the FV2 concept (pictured), a unique, one-seat future vehicle that emphasizes the "Fun to Drive" philosophy; the JPN TAXI concept, a next-generation taxi concept designed with Japanese hospitality in mind; and the Voxy and Noah concepts, next-generation minivans that differ most in exterior design cues and are scheduled to launch in the Japanese market in early 2014.
