1972 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. $7k 350 v8. Restored.
You will rarely see a classic FJ40 this nice for the asking price.  This 1972 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser which I was told has been professionally restored to include everything needed for modern convenience, power, reliability, performance and comfort.

I bought this just under a year ago on eBay with the intention of keeping it for the long-haul.  Unexpected financial commitments and time have forced me to sell.  My loss is your gain.

Recently upgraded to 4 wheel disc brakes and aluminum radiator.  Major improvement over the stock drum brakes.

Previous owner told me there was over $32K invested.  The work that was completed on this rig was done around 2008, according to the previous owner and listed below:
-Body was taken down to bare metal, sandblasted, primed and professionally painted a beautiful forest green. Paint is in good condition for being 5 years old.
-Frame was sandblasted and painted
-A full rebuilt custom high performance Chevy 350 V8 was installed at a cost of over $7K
-New Automatic Transmission with Lokar shifter
-Aftermarket Centerline Aluminum Wheels w Spare Wheel
-Aftermarket 33x12.5 Wildcat Extreme Tires with full size spare
-Custom CD Stereo system hidden nicely in glove box
-Warn XD9000 winch
-Power Steering
-4 wheel disc brake upgrade
-Custom Gauge Cluster mounted under dash
-3.5” Rancho Suspension lift with Rancho RS5000 shocks
-New Best Top Soft top
-Custom Grant GT Steering wheels
-Custom fabricated rear steel bumper with rear tail light cutouts, trailer hitch and tow hooks
-New Powder coated full roll cage
-All New Glass and Rubber
-Two new batteries

In Full Disclosure:
-There is a small ~2” scratch behind the passenger door
-Some minor paint chipping
-Carburetor needs adjustment and engine needs tune up.

Also included with this vehicle are:
-Side and rear panels for the hard top, but don't have the fiberglass top and rain gutter pieces.
-Bikini top included.
-Black diamond plated half doors.
-Various weatherstripping.

This truck is virtually new. Fires right up, sounds great and runs incredibly. Everything works including the heater, headlights, wipers, tail lights, signals, and so on. The body is as straight as they come, laser straight in fact No Rust EVER.  This is a well built FJ40. If you want a truck to drive on and off road that still looks good and still resembles a FJ40 this is for you.  Building a truck like this from stock form would cost twice the price.  So don't miss your chance to own the truck at a fraction of build cost.  This truck is ready to go right now.

A $1500 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of auction conclusion. The rest wire transfer or cashier’s check within 7 days closed auction. I do NOT accept paypal as there have been issues with it, so wire or cash preferred.

Jim Lentz exposes more details behind Toyota's move to Texas

Fri, 02 May 2014

Toyota's North American CEO Jim Lentz has already given us a rough idea of what prompted the company's surprise move to the Dallas suburb of Plano, TX from its longstanding headquarters in Torrance, CA. A new story from The Los Angeles Times, though, delivers even more detail from Lentz on the reasoning for the move, what other cities were considered and why the company's current host city wasn't even in the running.
Of course, one of the more popular reasons being bandied about includes the $40 million Texas was set to give the company for the move, as well as the state's generous tax rates. According to Lentz, though, the reason Toyota chose Plano over a group of finalists made up of Atlanta, Charlotte and Denver, was far simpler than that - it was about consolidating its marketing, sales, engineering and production teams in a region that's closer to the company's seat of manufacturing in the south.
"It doesn't make sense to have oversight of manufacturing 2,000 miles away from where the cars were made," Lentz told The Times. "Geography is the reason not to have our headquarters in California."

Eiji Toyoda dead at 100

Tue, 17 Sep 2013

Toyota has had number of chiefs over its 76-year history, but none ever served as long as Eiji Toyoda. The younger cousin of the company's founder served as president of the automaker from 1967 to 1982 and as chairman of the Toyota Motor Corporation for another ten years following the unification of the manufacturing and sales divisions.
During his 25 years at the helm, Eiji Toyoda (pictured above in 1967) was credited with establishing the company's headquarters in Toyota City, spearheading the development of the Prius, expanding production overseas for the first time, launching the Lexus brand and turning Toyota from a minor player into one of the largest automakers in the world.
Even after his retirement in 1992, he remained an honorary chairman and close advisor to his successors, and chaired the company's museum. He died of heart failure, ending a 100-year life that started on September 12, 1913, before the company that bore his family's name (albeit slightly modified) had even started building automatic looms, let alone automobiles. We extend our condolences to the Toyoda family and our congratulations on an accomplished life.

Scion reveals iM concept ahead of LA debut

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

After dropping a teaser image on us a few weeks ago, Scion has revealed in full the new iM Concept it's bringing to the Los Angeles Auto Show next week. As expected, the concept is clearly a rebadged version of the Euro-market Toyota Auris, only with some "European Racing Circuit Styling" upgrades to make it look more aggressive.
Along with the Scion logos, the five-door hatch is treated to a deeper air dam flanked by angular vents with stacked fog lamps, beefed-up wheel arches linked by widened side sills and filled with 19-inch, anthracite-finish alloys on low-profile rubber. Vented brake discs and four-piston calipers join an adjustable suspension as show-worthy equipment upgrades.
The sporty treatment continues around back with a similarly aggressive rear bumper and roof spoiler. Even the wing mirrors are replaced with narrower units. Little wonder it's all done up in a shade Scion calls "incrediblue" that looks rather similar to what sister-brand Lexus would put on one of its F-branded performance models - or for that matter what corporate ally Subaru would put on an STI hot hatches like the WRX.
