Nashville, Tennessee, United States

Available is a 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. It received a full frame off restoration a few years ago, and has only been driven a few hundred miles since. It is garage kept, and has no rust. During the frame off it received a full mechanical restoration including rebuilt engine with new clutch assembly, the original 3 speed was upgraded to a 4 speed from a '78 FJ. The carb, alternator, starter, all all rebuilt or NOS, the intake, water neck, air filter, and valve cover have been replated or polished. It has the optional rear heater (newly replumbed) and optional rear bumper. It has refurbished original steel wheels, new hubcaps, and new BFG A/T's 30x9.50x15. Also has original mirrors, seat belts and steering wheel.

Other new items include full exhaust, new steering, tie rods, springs, shocks, battery, hoses, belts, radiator, master and slave cylinders, ALL new brake lines, hoses, drums, fuel lines, gas tank,  weather stripping . The axles, t'case, and transmission were all disassembled, clean and reinstalled. All body mounts are perfect, as is the rear doors, liftgate, and rear bed area below doors. The bottom of this FJ is as clean as the top. All the seats were removed cleaned repainted and reupholstered. The attention to detail is very impressive.

I have a very realistic buy it now because I need to sell her to pay for other projects. You couldn't replicate this for what the but it now is. It does need side markers, lower dash pad, and speedo cable, that's it. The paint is good, but will need a little touch up below the gas cap from a careless overfill when the paint was fresh and under the pedal cluster from an accidental brake fluid leak. Sold as is where is with no warranty. Ask questions before you bid. I am selling locally and reserve the right to end the auction early. Call me if you have questions or want someone locally to inspect her. My cell is 615-948-7236, Chris.

Toyota nears $40B cash reserve as calls grow for new investment, payouts

Wed, 05 Feb 2014

With the April 15 tax deadline just a few months away, our US readers will be faced with a decision should they get a refund: save or spend? It seems this issue is one many of us face whenever there's a windfall, trying to decide whether we should set the money aside in an account of some sort or use it as a down payment on a new car or a trip to the Apple store. Unsurprisingly, major corporations face a similar, albeit more complex, issue.
Take Toyota, for example. With President Akio Toyoda at the helm, the Japanese manufacturer has gracefully weathered recalls and natural disasters, all while turning beaucoup profits. Last quarter, profits quintupled to 434.4-billion yen ($4.3-billion USD), according to Bloomberg. Toyota also upped its forecast for the end of fiscal year 2013 (which ends on March 31 for Japan), to a record 1.9-trillion yen (about $18.8 billion). Now, the Japanese brand is reportedly sitting on a cash pile of nearly $40 billion, leaving Toyoda-san in an envious predicament - what should the company do with all that money?
Some think Toyota should be doing something, anything with that big stack of cash.

130,000 Toyota Tundra pickups recalled over airbag issue

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Toyota is announcing a recall for about 130,000 examples of the 2014 Tundra Tundra pickup in Crew-Max Cab and Double Cab configurations.
According to the company, the "garnish on the center pillars" inside the trucks might not have been installed correctly. If the vehicle were in an accident, the side curtain airbags could deploy in the wrong shape. Toyota says that it's not aware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this potential problem.
To fix the issue, the pickups will have their interior center pillars inspected, and if faulty, the pieces will be replaced. Obviously, this will be done at no cost to owners. Scroll down to read the full announcement.

Expedition drives from Russia to Canada over North Pole...

Tue, 21 May 2013

No, a Ford Expedition did not drive from Russia to Canada via the North Pole, but that's exactly what a team of intrepid explorers accomplished recently. Using specially-modified buses with massive tires, the group slowly drove 2,485 miles in 70 days over drifting ice, occasionally using a pickaxe to clear a path and staying on guard for chasms that could open up and plunge the team into the frigid arctic waters. Average speeds were about 6 mph, "at the speed of a (farm) tractor." While the big tires technically allowed the buses to float if the need arose, the team preferred to stay out of the water to keep the suspension from getting coated in thick, hard ice. Falling in on foot would mean almost certain death.
According to Phys.org, the buses were powered by Toyota diesel engines, but were built with prototype parts from a previous driving expedition to the North Pole. Right now, the machines are parked in a garage in Canada's Resolute Bay while the the team rests up with family back home. They plan to continue their trek to back across the Bering Straight to Russia. If successful, the team may eventually offer a version of their buses for commercial sale.
