1987 Toyota Corolla Ae86 - New Engine And Great Shape - Real Mileage 43,000 on 2040-cars
Clinton, Missouri, United States
|
For Sale is a rare 87 Toyota Corolla Sport SR5 Coupe 2-Door AE86 1.6 L Gas SOHC.
The engine was replaced 43,000 miles ago in 2005 along with many parts under the hood. Around the same time it got a new paint job (of the original color) and rust repair. In 2008 the windshield was replaced and is in excellent condition. The interior, as you can see, is also in excellent condition. The original radio has been replaced with a CD player /pocket and the back and front speakers have been replaced as well. Other than these few audio modifications and engine replacement no other major modifications have been made to the car and she is all original. The car lights function perfectly. The heating and A/C works but the vent changer is stuck on forward facing vents. The cruise control doesn't work. Since 2005 it was used until 2007 when it was put into storage for almost the entire year while I was abroad. Then from 2009 to 2013 it was stored again while I went abroad a second time. As expected from an engine with only 43,000 miles, it runs great, starts up right away, gets up to speed fast and rides smooth. The vehicle has a clean title and no liens. All major and minor work was paid off when completed. All receipts and documents for work done to the car since it was bought used by me in 2003 is still available, including the engine replacement and paint job mentioned above. This car was lovingly used for the majority of 11 years but now it's time for me to move on and put this rare vehicle into the hands of someone who can continue caring for it. As for knocks against the car, there is a bit of rust around the back wheel wells and on the driver's side front wheel well and a bit on the passenger side front wheel well. Other than this the exterior is in great condition. The dash is cracked in several places and there is a hole on the driver's side seat that has been patched. The car has been very reliable and I would expect it to continue to run great. The vehicle is about an hour away but I am in Kansas City. If you are serious about the car then I will drive it up to show you. I'm open to negotiations. If interested please contact me and I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have. |

Toyota FT-1 Concept presents a future we want to live in [w/videos]
Mon, 13 Jan 2014Toyota has brought its A game to the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, showing off the striking FT-1 Concept. Short for "Future Toyota," the FT-1 is, we're imagining, the supposed Supra Concept we reported on early in December.
Penned by the Calty Design Research team, the FT-1 draws inspirations from the FT-HS and the Lexus LF-LC concepts from 2007 and 2012, respectively. We certainly see a bit of Lexus LF-A in the design, while there's more than a hint of Formula One in the FT-1's pointed nose.
"Our team was heavily influenced by Toyota's sports car past, especially Celica and Supra, and we sought to capture some of that history. It is an aggressive, track-focused sports car concept with a presence that has been amplified for shock and awe," said Alex Shen, Calty's Studio Chief Designer.
Cleanliness of Toyota Mirai fuel cell exhaust depends on air quality
Sat, Nov 29 2014Is the water vapor coming out of Toyota's first production fuel-cell vehicle drinkable? If you're driving through the Sierra Nevadas? Probably. Cruising through Beijing? Not so much. Toyota executive Seiji Mizuno discussed whether the water vapor emitted from the Toyota Mirai is safe enough to drink and, according to Automotive News, the short answer is "yes," since the slightly-acidic vapor has "fewer organic impurities" than milk. The catch, though, is that the vapor immediately gets mixed with the surrounding air. That means that there's always the chance that something funky gets mixed in with the air intake, especially if the Mirai's driving through a smog-infested city. That makes the idea of swigging off the tailpipe a slightly riskier venture, so it's best to keep that reusable bottle full of tap water handy. Toyota, which recently showed the Mirai off at the Los Angeles Auto Show, confirmed earlier this month that the Mirai would start sales in California in 2015 with lease rates starting at $499 a month. While the model's MSRP will be $57,500, federal and state incentives could bring that number to less than $45,000. Fewer than 200 Mirai vehicles will be available in the US by the end of next year.
5 highlights from the 2018 Petersen Automotive Museum Auction
Fri, Nov 30 2018From the avant garde exterior design to the collection of vehicles between the walls, the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles is one of the coolest car museums in the U.S., and possibly the world. Among several others, the Petersen has two featured exhibits, The Porsche Effect and Legends of L.A. But the museum has a different type of viewing coming up at which you could touch, or even buy, a variety of special vehicles. After hosting its SoCal auction on the coast in Santa Monica for several years, RM Sotheby's has moved the event to the more central location of the museum. In addition to several works of art, the auction which takes place the weekend of December 7, will show several dozens of blue-chip vehicles, chosen by RM Sotheby's 30 car specialists. After sorting through lots that range from microcars to new-age supercars, here are five of the highlights that caught our eyes. 1956 Ferrari 290 MM by Scaglietti Projected Value: $22,000,000-$26,000,000 Without question, this is the crown jewel of the entire show. As the eldest and most experienced of the 11 total Ferrari lots, its estimated value of $26 million is more than five times the values of the other five cars listed below combined. From the jump, Ferrari threw the 290 into the line of fire. Starting its life with a four-cylinder 860 Monza engine and a Tipo 520 chassis, its first race was the Mille Miglia. Peter Collins was behind the wheel and racing photographer Louis Klemantaski was his copilot. Ferrari took the top five spots in the race, with this car, chassis No. 0628, finishing second. It went on to see multiple races and took on multiple forms, including a V12 swap at one point. After switching through the hands of multiple owners, it was sent to Ferrari Classiche in Maranello, where it was restored to its form at the time of the 1957 12 Hours of Sebring. It retains its original chassis, original bodywork, and original transmission, and houses the V12 from its 290 MM spec. The restoration was completed in 2015, and the car remains in incredible shape today. 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400 SV by Bertone Projected Value: $2,100,000-$2,500,000 Simply put, the Miura is one of the most significant supercars, and therefore one of the most important cars, of all time. Its two-seat, mid-engined configuration seismically shifted what a performance could and should look like, and its V12 gave it the power to be the fastest car in the world when it debuted.
