Great Running and driving 1996 Toyota Celica ST 1.8l 4cyl 5 spd manual. CHASIS HAS 222K MILES DRIVETRAIN 122K.

I JUST REPLACED THE 1.8L 7AFE ENGINE WITH A LOWER MILEAGE 7AFE (122K) OUT OF A 1997 CELICA.
THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION THE CAR WILL SELL ONCE THE FIRST BIDDER BIDS!

So here is the story with this great little car, I bought this car Feb 2013 from Indiana for my little brother. He used the car to go back and forth to work until May 2013, when he threw a rod through the block. So i put the car in the garage, found another engine (7AFE) with 122k miles on it and had it professionally installed in July 2013. Since then I have driven it approx. 400 miles to ensure it has no problems. My little brother has since left town and I don't need another car even though I love my toyotas. This body style is very desirable and would even be great for a swap project if you wanted. I would not because it runs great and will last a long time right now as is. Below I will list the things I have done as well as the condition.

DONE BY ME SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT:

-New cold air intake
-New front pads and rotors as well as new driver side front caliper (brakes)
-New rear shoes (brakes)
-New battery (02/13)
-New Kumho Ecsta tires (all 4) on alloy rims from a 2007 corolla S
-New interior armrest and shift boot leather and 2 new rubber floor mats for front
-New JVC HD radio with 2 aux out usb in apple ipod control and bluetooth
-New "FLI" bass box with amp ( think its two 10" subs) and wiring to battery and radio
-Used front driver side low beam headlamp ( the old one had broken mounting tabs) and light
-New Antenna

DONE BY MY MECHANIC

-Installed used 7AFE 1.8L (122k) from a 1997 Celica and when installed:
  -new timing belt and tensioner
  -new NGK spark plugs
  -new premium wires
-new clutch and throw out bearing
-all new fluids ( oil, trans, coolant) and filters
-New performance exhaust header for 7AFE

This car runs and drives great, it would make a great first car and because it has ABS and the airbags it should not kill you on the insurance. The paint still shows shiny, although the front bumper and rear bumper have some marks and peeling. There is virtually no rust ( no toy rot) it does have a bubble coming up near bottom of driver side door and where there have been a few nicks on sides of vehicle ( i tried to show in pics). It has tinted front and rear windows and really has a nice stance with the brand new tires on the Corolla S alloy rims. The interior is really clean with no tears in the seats, and the only thing negative on the interior is the wear on the driver side door armrest. The stereo sounds great and all speakers and the subs work great, the stereo also has a remote.

The only things that I can think of that it may need are:

-A/C blows cool will need a recharge
-May need Front end alignment from when engine was replaced, it has usual front engine torque steer under power and drives fine but I'M just throwing that out there for peace of mind
-chips and small dents in paint could be prepped and repainted

So Once again this is a great driving and running little car that gets great gas mileage, will run for years with the newer engine in it, and it looks good. There are NO LEAKS, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS and everything works as it should. The Undercarriage and frame are solid and show no rust. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere in the U.S. I have a clean and clear Illinois title in hand and will sign it over to seller upon sale. I require a $500 deposit by paypal and the remaining balance in cash, or certified check as long as you go with me to the bank and cash the check. If you want to pay more then $500 in paypal you will have to pay the transfer fee ( I think it's 3%). I have done my best to describe this vehicle truthfully and in it's entirety, the vehicle is sold AS-IS with no warranty expressed or implied.  If you come here after buying and don't like the car I will let you back out minus what it cost to list the car for sale on ebay.  Please remeber this is a binding contract and I will report non payers. If you have 0 feedback you must contact me first before you can bid.

I will also be including some extra parts and repair manual (haynes I think), I was going to rebuild the old engine but just gave it to mechanic so I have brand new timing belt, water pump and tensioner that goes with this car as well as used front driver side headlamps (2) used driver side front window motor and window switches (driver side). This really is a great car you will not be disappointed. I reserve the right to remove this listing if vehicle is no longer for sale.

THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION THE CAR WILL SELL ONCE THE FIRST BIDDER BIDS!

Toyota C-HR stays sharp from prototype to production

Tue, Mar 1 2016

Scion is dead. While the troubled brand was given 13 years to make a case for itself, it never quite succeeded. And that's a shame, because we're pretty confident that this, the production-spec Toyota C-HR would have been one of its biggest hits. Instead, when it arrives in the US, it will be as a Toyota... where it will still likely be a big hit. The new small CUV made its debut after literally years of teasing concepts, the most recent of which was shown late last year in Los Angeles, where it was badged as a Scion. After seeing that car, it's quite clear that Toyota has strained itself to translate its style to the real world. Up front, there's clear inspiration from the Toyota Auris/Scion iM. But aside from the front, the C-HR's biggest inspiration appears to be the Nissan Juke. View 14 Photos It's like Toyota has tried to go even further, though. Its wheel arches are flared even more aggressively and they feed into a strong character line on the lower portion of the doors. In back, Toyota's designers seem to have just rotated the Juke's taillights 180 degrees while they sit below an extremely fast rear window. Said window is integrated into today's latest design trend, a floating roof. Mechanically, the C-HR rides atop Toyota's New Global Architecture, which is Japan's answer to Volkswagen's MQB architecture. Power comes from a hybrid drivetrain, good for a relaxed 120 horsepower. If you don't want hybrid power, Toyota will sell the C-HR with the Euro-market Auris' turbo 1.2-liter engine, but we almost certainly won't see that here in the US. Instead, American drivers will probably be left with nothing but a 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder. That engine will be exclusively paired with a continuously variable transmission that sends power to either the front- or to all four wheels. So there's Juke inspiration, but not in the driving character. Toyota says it will build the C-HR Hybrid in Turkey. We don't know if that facility will handle US-market vehicles or just Europe, but we wouldn't be surprised to see additional facilities come online to produce this stylish little bugger. Weekly Recap: Ferrari, Ford and Porsche power up for Geneva

Sat, Feb 7 2015

Monday was Groundhog Day. Tuesday, apparently, was Sports Car Day. The Ferrari 488 GTB, the Ford Focus RS and the Porsche Cayman GT4 all debuted within hours of each other ahead of their rollouts at the Geneva Motor Show. Three sporty machines, three vastly different approaches – and a lot of implications for enthusiasts. That's a day worth repeating. It also illustrates the opportunities automakers see in the performance market, which is expected to grow in the coming years. Ford estimates the segment has expanded 14 percent in Europe and surged 70 percent in North America since 2009. The Detroit Auto Show was evidence of this, and performance cars of every stripe debuted, including the Acura NSX, Ford GT, Alfa Romeo 4C Spider and several others. This isn't a fad. Performance cars aren't going away. The question is why? Stricter CAFE standards are looming in the United States, as are tighter emissions regulations in Europe. And no one expects gas prices to remain low in America. None of this matters for sports cars, and automakers are increasingly using them to elevate their images. That's why Dodge rolled out two 707-horsepower Hellcats last year. It's why Ford has decided to resurrect the GT for road and track. It's why in the depths of bankruptcy, General Motors continued work on the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, not to mention the Z06. "Great brands are made one car at a time," Ford of Europe president Jim Farley said at the reveal of the Focus RS. Still, companies make those cars for different reasons. View 5 Photos Mainstream brands like Ford and Dodge want to build cars that get people talking, excite their bases and drive more potential customers into the showroom. They probably don't buy a Focus RS or a Hellcat, but suddenly the regular Focus hatch looks a bit hotter, and that V6 Charger seems to be just a touch more muscular. The halo of performance is alive and well in the eyes of automakers and their customers. "It's one of the most effective catalysts for ingenuity and innovation," said Joe Bakaj, vice president of product development for Ford of Europe. That also leads to a trickle-down effect. Some of the technologies inevitably make their way to other products. It's hard to think the new all-wheel-drive system in the Focus RS that distributes torque front to rear and side to side won't be used in other vehicles. It's different for Ferrari and Porsche.

Toyota to end Australian production by 2017

Mon, 10 Feb 2014

There is more bad news for the Australian auto industry today, as Toyota has just announced that it will follow General Motors and Ford in shuttering its manufacturing operations on the continent. Production and assembly will cease by the end of 2017, but Toyota will remain in Australia as a sales and distribution company.
"We did everything that we could to transform our business, but the reality is that there are too many factors beyond our control that make it unviable to build cars in Australia," said Toyota Australia President and CEO Max Yasuda.
In an official statement, Yasuda said that the closure would directly affect 2,500 manufacturing employees and an unknown number of corporate workers. However, a report in the Australian newspaper The Age suggests that the jobs of 24,000 workers at Australian auto suppliers could also be in jeopardy. Toyota currently builds its Camry, Camry Hybrid, Aurion sedans in Australia, along with four-cylinder engines, and it plans to begin importing the Camry and Aurion after production stops.
