PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION Up for auction is a 1992 Toyota Celica GT Liftback. This car has the 5S-FE 4 cylinder engine and the 5 speed manual transmission. I have owned the car for the past 3 years and it had been driven daily until the week before Thanksgiving November 2013 when it suddenly blew the AM1 engine fuse while on my way to work. I have been unable to determine the cause of the short which is sending positive power to both sides of the fuse connection. Thus I am frustrated with the vehicle. Everything in the car works fine. The air conditioning compressor was replaced last year and the system converted to 134a refrigerant. The car was originally red, but repainted black. The interior carpet was replaced in 2012. I have the mud guards and some miscellaneous extras, including a well worn Haynes repair manual. The stereo seen in the photos is not part of the auction, but I could probably be talked into leaving it in the car. If electrical systems are your thing, you could have this car on the road in no time, otherwise consider it as a very complete parts car. I am offering this vehicle at no reserve. Payment: Winning bidder will be required to make a $500.00 US deposit via PayPal within 48 hours of the close of auction. Any balance will be payable in cash (no checks) prior to transfer of title and keys. Winning bidder is responsible for pickup within 10 days of close of auction. Toyota Camry could lose No. 1 sedan spot next year [w/video]
Fri, 27 Sep 2013Eleven months after Toyota claimed the 2012 sales crown a couple of months early thanks to the Camry, the headlines this year have been quite a bit different to last. Even though the Camry remains the best selling car so far in 2013 and its volume has increased year-on-year, it has lost market share due to the 20-percent sales explosion in the midsize segment. That means people are buying more of the competitor offerings like the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima and Ford Fusion - the Altima, in fact, outsold the Camry by 100 units in March.
In July it was reported that Toyota was upping Camry incentives and fleet sales to keep its lead and that dealer inventory was climbing as, again, competitors got better at fighting the champion. In August Ford doubled down on production of the Fusion, adding a line in Flat Rock, MI to keep up with demand.
Bloomberg has a report looking at the numbers behind the Camry's dominance, as well as what appears to be a recorded group interview with Toyota USA CEO Jim Lentz, and wonders aloud whether the Camry will be able to hold its top spot in 2014. Barring catastrophe it has this year locked up, being more than 30,000 sales ahead of the next-best seller as of the end of August, but it has done so with higher incentives and lower transaction prices than its competitors. According to Strategic Vision the Camry's consideration rate among consumers has also declined by a percentage point, while the consideration rate for the Accord and Fusion has increased by one point and two points, respectively.
Toyota GT86 GT4 racer is ready for UK competition
Tue, 05 Feb 2013It's about time we saw someone cook up a legitimate race version of the delectable Toyota GT86, and now it looks as if GPRM has done just that. The Buckingham-based race engineering team has built the creation you see here, complete with a turbocharged 2.0-liter, direct-injection four-cylinder boxer cooked up by Nicholson McLaren Engines. The team says the new mill delivers between 360 and 400 horsepower to the rear wheels depending on final testing, which is a sight bit more than the 197 horses the naturally aspirated stock mill offers.
The car will compete in GT4 events, including the Avon Tyres British GT Championship. Technically, the GPRM effort isn't factory backed, but the team says the effort "has the blessing of Toyota Great Britain." How could it not? Toyota Camry, Lexus RX to get aluminum parts

The lightweight, strong material has long held a following within the premium ranks, but as Ford prepares to launch an aluminum F-150, the material is gaining acceptance among more mainstream automakers. Toyota is one such brand, with a new report indicating that the Japanese giant will add aluminum bits and bobs to some of its upcoming vehicles.
These won't be full, aluminum-intensive treatments like the F-150, however. Automotive News reports that an aluminum hood and liftgate will be coming to the 2016 Lexus RX, and following that, the Camry will get a bonnet built from Element 13 for model year 2018.
As AN points out, Toyota is no stranger to aluminum, using it in Japanese-built models like the Prius and Scion FR-S. The RX and Camry, though, will mark the first time the company's North American factories will use the material, and they'll do so on a significantly larger scale, owing to the higher volumes that the Camry and RX represent.
