1992 Toyota Celica Gt Hatchback 2-door 2.2l on 2040-cars
Callaway, Maryland, United States
|
PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION Up for auction is a 1992 Toyota Celica GT Liftback. This car has the 5S-FE 4 cylinder engine and the 5 speed manual transmission. I have owned the car for the past 3 years and it had been driven daily until the week before Thanksgiving November 2013 when it suddenly blew the AM1 engine fuse while on my way to work. I have been unable to determine the cause of the short which is sending positive power to both sides of the fuse connection. Thus I am frustrated with the vehicle. Everything in the car works fine. The air conditioning compressor was replaced last year and the system converted to 134a refrigerant. The car was originally red, but repainted black. The interior carpet was replaced in 2012. I have the mud guards and some miscellaneous extras, including a well worn Haynes repair manual. The stereo seen in the photos is not part of the auction, but I could probably be talked into leaving it in the car. If electrical systems are your thing, you could have this car on the road in no time, otherwise consider it as a very complete parts car. I am offering this vehicle at no reserve. Payment: Winning bidder will be required to make a $500.00 US deposit via PayPal within 48 hours of the close of auction. Any balance will be payable in cash (no checks) prior to transfer of title and keys. Winning bidder is responsible for pickup within 10 days of close of auction. Storage fees of $10.00 US per day will apply after 10 days, and will be payable before the vehicle will be released. Pickup: This vehicle will require a trailer or tow dolly. I have a U-Haul facility within 5 miles of the car location and can assist in lining up a rental if needed. I will repeat: This vehicle will require a trailer or tow dolly. |

Subaru to stop building Camry for Toyota in the US
Fri, 09 May 2014It was back in 2007 that Subaru of Indiana Automotive, under contract from Subaru minority shareholder Toyota, built the first Toyota Camry at its plant in Lafayette, Indiana. Rumblings of the end of that contract work have been around for a while, as Subaru talked of expanding capacity to build more units and add a line for the Impreza, and Toyota talked of moving Camry production to its Georgetown, KY plant. The news was official internally last November when SIA Executive Vice President Tom Easterday told the Louisville Courier-Journal that Camry production would end. Now, Automotive News reports that both automakers have admitted publicly that the end will come in 2016.
SIA currently has a 170,000-unit capacity devoted to the home-brand Legacy and Outback models, while a $400-million expansion increases that to 300,000 units to prepare the facility for Impreza production in two years. Freeing up the 100,000 units of production devoted to the Camry means a 400,000-unit capability, which is far more than Subaru needs at the moment, but the Toyota exit will allow it to expand any way it sees fit. Subaru has said it will absorb the workers on the Camry line and no jobs will be lost, the mayor of Lafayette saying the development could change the timetable for the expansion.
BMW Z5 roadster gets frosty in winter testing
Fri, Apr 1 2016The successor to the BMW Z4 (remember that thing?) is currently undergoing testing in what may be the least hospitable place for a two-seat roadster – northern Sweden. Yep, even sunshine-loving convertibles need to undergo winter testing. We still aren't 100-percent certain of the name, but rumors are pointing to BMW ditching the Z4 nomenclature in favor of Z5. As we've reported before, it's very likely that this car is being developed with help from Toyota. The platform underpinning the car shown here could become the long-awaited new Supra (albeit in hardtop-only form). We'd love to tell you about the look of this new car, but between the camouflage and the caked-on snow, it's hard to draw a bead. We can clearly see the headlights are inspired by newer BMWs like the 7 Series and 2 Series, but other details are harder to discern. The right elements are here, though. The prototype has a long hood and short rear deck. It's also worth pointing out that the car shown here marks a return to a canvas convertible roof. Aside from being less complex, our spies report that the soft top is being used to lower weight and provide sharper handling. While our report on the Z4's successor from March 2015 pointed to a 2020 launch date for the new roadster, our spies say the German part of this BMW/Toyota partnership could launch in late 2017 or early 2018 with four- and six-cylinder engine options. Toyota will introduce several new battery EVs by 2025
Fri, Jun 7 2019Toyota has been a champion of hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, but in the near future it will bet heavily on battery EVs as well. The most recent statement from the Japanese manufacturer details there are several new BEVs in the pipeline. Toyota has stated its intent for half of its global 2025 sales to consist of electrified vehicles. Plans include selling 4.5 million hybrids, which perform well in Toyota sales metrics already Í— Reuters says 80% of global hybrid vehicle sales are Toyotas. But 1 million vehicles will be EVs with either battery or hydrogen fuel cell power. From 2020 on, the carmaker will introduce at least 10 new BEVs, six of which will be based on the electrified version of its TNGA platform, dubbed e-TNGA, and sold globally. There will be a host of electric SUVs and crossovers in different sizes, along with a sedan and an MPV. Toyota says its EV plans must include a stable supply of batteries, as well as improved battery life and durability and proper reuse. It has found partners in China's CATL and electric carmaker BYD to help with battery availability. Earlier this week, Toyota announced that it is planning a jointly developed, all-wheel-drive battery electric crossover together with Subaru, and the resulting vehicle will probably be one of the six new models mentioned above. Subaru is also likely to benefit from the joint development deal, as it is a bit player in large parts of the world, and a partner like Toyota will come in handy when coming up with completely new vehicles.
