3.0l V6 on 2040-cars
Sacramento, California, United States
|
This car has a clean and clear title with no thefts. It was purchased originally in Folsom, Ca and has been continuously registered in California ever since. There was a minor accident in December of 2013 involving the left rear side of the car. This has been repaired and a new bumper cover installed.
It is an absolute California Rust-Free Car. AutoCheck and CarFax both show the date of a cars emissions tests and the mileage when taken and any sales that occurred. With this car there were no sales, however there was one transfer from the original owner to his son. So it is best to state that as a simple within family transfer in 2007. As these reports show the progressive mileage readings through the years and that is as close to a certification of the present mileage as you can get in that if the mileage had been altered you should see the mileage either not advancing over time or even dropping if the odometer had been replaced. That is a reliable record because it comes from the online records of a state agency, and there are no gaps. Cars from other states, such as Pennsylvania and many other states, may get smoged even every year, but the mileage is only recorded when there has been a transfer of ownership and it is easy in that case to alter the mileage and it not be uncovered in the reports from many states, but it goes a long way in explaining why there are so many apparently low mileage cars coming from certain states. But with this car, it had its mileage recorded every two years, in California, and so, that becomes a much more reliable record. Please note, In California 1996 and newer cars receive what is called a Star Emissions Test every two years. This test is quite vigorous and involves being tested on a Dynometer, and because of the vigor of that test, it is deemed sufficient every two years, assuming no transfer of ownership is involved. The following info is that record. July 2007 46,400 March 2009 59,873 February 2011 87,437 March 2013 104,726 December 2013 Minor Accident at approximately 110,000 miles. So, if your looking for a low mileage car, make sure that it is truly low mileage before you pay the price for a pig in a poke. This one is the real McCoy! Although it is difficult for me to say that 110,000 is low mileage it is comparatively low mileage when you look at most cars on the market. Please realize that there are many, many of these Toyota V6 cars being sold with over 300,000 miles today, and it is that dependability, combined with fuel efficiency, that is what makes those cars with even over 300,000 miles on them. With 200,000 miles they appear to be worth as much as about half the price of this one with just 110,000, although I personally would be not comfortable with buying at 200,000 miles, many are. When I do meet someone who is an original owner with one of these 300,000 mile plus cars, and I frequently do, I always ask them..." What, are you waiting for, the Govenor's Pardon to release you before you get out of this torture chamber? " But seriously, I really don't think you can do better than this one at $6,500. It has everything and everything works , even the cruise control works perfectly. The car is amazing! The low miles are absolutely real and the smog tests, and a physical inspection, proved that this car was very well maintained. There are no leaks and everything works. Whether you want a car for your collection, or to be a daily driver, I doubt you will find a better car to purchase at under $10,000. Question of the Day: What (non-Skyline) JDM car to import?
Wed, Apr 13 2016I have been looking into the idea of bringing a four-wheel-drive kei van over from Japan, something like a Honda Street or perhaps even a Mitsubishi Minicab Bravo Route 66, and so I have been researching the various bureaucratic hoops I must jump through in order to bring such a car into my state (Colorado). When I finally tracked down the state official who knew the answers, his very first words were "OK, so what year Skyline do you want to register here?" Yes, Nissan's not-sold-over-here factory-hot-rod of the 1980s and 1990s is what gets shipped over most often, but there are other worthy JDM vehicles. Say, for example, a stunning 1990 Mitsuoka Le Seyde (above), which was far classier than the Excalibur and based on the sporty S13 Nissan Silvia, aka 240SX. Of course, the king of JDM cars is the mighty Toyota Century, and you can get nice legal-to-import examples for reasonable prices. No, you can't get the V12 Century legally – yet; the V12-powered cars don't hit the 25-year-old mark until 2022. So, what's your choice for a 1991 or earlier Japanese-market car to import, assuming that the Skyline is off the table? New Toyota Supra may get a twin-turbo Lexus V6
Fri, Jul 22 2016We've heard endless rumors that a successor to the much loved and much missed Toyota Supra is in the works. Toyota hasn't done much to deny these conversations. On the contrary, the FT-1 concept from two years ago and the partnership with BMW have only fueled the fire. Now, talk of a new Lexus engine has led to speculation about the supposed Supra's powertrain. To be clear, this is mostly heresay. Few things have actually been confirmed, but based on what we know a few conclusions can be drawn. We know that BMW and Toyota are working on a joint product. We've seen mules testing out in the wild. In BMW guise, the possibly Austrian-built car will more than likely powered by turbocharged inline four and six-cylinder engines. Unless Toyota wants to use Bimmer power, they'll need to shoehorn one of their own under the hood. That leads us to this rumor of a twin-turbocharged V6 that will presumably power the new Lexus GS and LS. Japanese automotive publication Mag-X first reported on this engine. It was then picked up by YouWheel and Car Keys. Mag-X cites Toyota insiders and even gives an engine code, 943F. This engine allegedly will make more than 400 horsepower and more than 300 lb-ft of torque. While unconfirmed, this makes sense for Lexus. Nearly every luxury competitor has a six-cylinder engine with forced induction. While Toyota has previously had turbocharged inline-sixes, they've never produced a factory turbo V6. Every automaker is downsizing engines in an effort to meet fuel economy and emissions regulations. Toyota and Lexus will follow suit. Taking that V6 and tuning it for a performance application is a solid, if unverified, possibility. Related Video:
