I have a 1999 Toyota Camry I am willing to sacrifice and sell for $2000 less than fair value because of a dent in the hood. I have located 2 hoods in the local area, both are under $100. this car is in incredible clean condition. It has all the options, air, cruise, tilt, electric seats, CD player, etc, and it gets very good gas mileage. If you want to save yourself $2000 and you are handy, here is the car for you. It rides and drives great and as you can see in the pictures, it's in very good condition inside and out. I would consider a trade up for a nice motorcycle or boat. Thanks for looking.

Question of the Day: Ever consider driving a minivan?

Since I'm supposed to know something about cars, it happens all the time: friends and relatives ask me advice about what kind of vehicle they should get. Very often, the only type of vehicle that can check every item on their wish list (e.g., hauls lots of people and stuff, gets good fuel economy, has great crash-test ratings, can take four Great Danes camping, and so on) is a modern minivan... and, of course, nobody wants to hear this. I'm not a minivan person, they will wail, and so they end up with a cramped, fuel-swilling SUV or a not-so-space-efficient minivan-in-disguise CUV. So, is it worth becoming one of those minivan people in order to get the incredible usefulness of these masterpieces of vehicle engineering, or do you hold your head high and drive something that doesn't quite meet your needs? Report: Daihatsu leaving European market

More than any other, two carmaking giants sit at the top of the industry: Toyota and General Motors. But while GM sells under a (shrinking but still) expansive range of brands, the Toyota Motor Corporation sells most of its vehicles under its own name. That doesn't mean that Toyota, however, doesn't have its own portfolio of subsidiaries. Here in the United States we have the youth-oriented Scion division, while Lexus handles its upscale offerings, and overseas there's Daihatsu.
The budget brand offers a range of small cars under its own name; most are hatchbacks, but there's also the Copen roadster and even a rebadged Camry called the Altis. You may have come across some of their offerings while traveling overseas, particularly in Europe, but that last part is about to come to an end, according to reports.
Word from across the pond is that Toyota plans to withdraw Daihatsu from the European market altogether. The move would reportedly take effect in 2013, and if it comes to pass, would follow similar withdrawals from the North American (1992) and Australian (2006) markets. Thanks for the tip, William!

Santa swaps his sleigh for a Ferrari-powered Toyota

A Ferrari-powered Toyota 86 is sure to garner a bit of attention, as well it should. We've been paying attention throughout this build, so it should be no surprise then that Santa did as well. He's ditched his red sleigh for the Gumout GT4586 in this video. If you've been following along, you know that Ryan Tuerck and Gumout built this completely bonkers machine that's far more exciting than some previous Japanese/Italian mash-up automobiles. Donut Media has been doing their part to document and promote every stage of the process. This new video is filled with the gratuitous amounts of lights, noise, and tire smoke that Donut is known for. We don't know the conversion from horsepower to reindeerpower, but the GT4586 should provide plenty of oomph for Santa's Christmas trek.
