Welcome to my 1997 Toyota Avalon XL. This vehicle was the top-of-the-line Toyota of its time and only has 152k miles. The engine has runs like new with nothing to report or fix. The transmission shifts 100% without issue. All power options – automatic climate control, radio, locks, windows, etc. - function properly. The paint is in excellent condition. There are minimal dents, dings, or scratches. The paint is in excellent condition. The interior is very clean as well with really no signs of wear on the seats or carpet. The leather has no signs of wear at all. The rims are the upgraded alloy factory type - with no road rash. The tires are only 4 months old - according to previous owner. This vehicle was very well maintained and it shows. Brakes are great. Oil is fresh. A/C blows cold. Bearing in mind that it is a previously owned vehicle, this car is in really good condition and will provide years of reliability.

Minor issues to address: Mechanically, the car is in terrific shape. It needs a flex pipe on the exhaust - typical for Toyotas of this vintage. Normally, I would have had this fixed but I didn't have the time to do so. I have had it priced at 2 different mechanics - it should run about $150 - the part is $30 the rest is labor - minor fix. Keep this in mind for bidding please.

Fuel prices in the US have been tumbling for the last several weeks, with the average price of a gallon of gas at $3.120 as of October 20, according to the US Energy Information Administration. That price reflects a serious recent drop from $3.299 on October 6. Reports have even suggested that those low numbers might not change for a little while, perhaps as long as years. While drivers certainly love paying less at the pump, the change may be hurting the market for more fuel-efficient models, including the Toyota Prius.

North American production of foreign marques to jump in 2014

Wards Auto has released its North American Light Vehicle Production Forecast for 2014, and the report predicts foreign manufacturers will increase production on the continent some 3.9 percent by 2014. If accurate, that should see 123,000 additional cars, trucks and vans produced in North America, swelling the total number of units produced both by domestic and foreign manufacturers to 16.9 million light vehicles from a projected 15.6 million in 2013. Much of the increase can be attributed to the fact that Toyota intends to produce another car at its Blue Springs, MS plant as well as a new Lexus model at its Georgetown, KY facility in a year's time.
Likewise, Volkswagen intends to move production of a currently imported model to its plant in Puebla, Mexico. Daimler, Honda, Nissan and Mazda also plan to build additional models on North American soil for the first time. Around two-thirds of the new North American manufacturing will take place in Mexico, helping the country soak up a full 20 percent of the content's automotive production for the first time.
