You are bidding on a 1999 Toyota 4Runner Limited. We have owned this vehicle for 10 years and have maintained everything as needed and recommended including oil changes and any other normal wear and tear items. We purchased the vehicle with 43,000 miles on it. Tires are at approximately 75% remaining and recently the brakes and oil gaskets were replaced. The timing belt and water pump has been replaced as well as a NC inspection in February. Also replaced has been O2 sensor, fuel filter, starter and various other items that have needed attention with mileage. This vehicle has been an excellent vehicle and runs great. We are selling this vehicle because my oldest son has an opportunity to upgrade to a newer vehicle as we shuffle vehicles within the family to accomodate my youngest son getting his license. The 4Runner has been well taken care of but does have wear and tear from 14 years and 211,000 miles on the road. The front bumper has been replaced after a minor bump up, The leather in the driver seat is worn where I have shown and I have attempted to show the true condition of the vehicle with pics. I would encourage anyone interested to attempt to test drive and look at the vehicle in person. Anyone who makes the effort is more than welcome to take the vehicle to a mechanic to check out locally as well. With that being said, this sale is for the vehicle as is and is being driven until sold. I am also advertising locally and will end the auction at the time of a sale. This is a no reserve auction with a buy it now for $4800.00. If you need additional pics or further info, please feel free to let me know and I will attempt to get what is requested to you. Sorry...No shipping. I will be more than happy to deliver the vehicle within a 30 mile radius of Locust, NC. Thanks!

Toyota's 'Easy Speak' Gives Parents A Voice In Backseats
Mon, Jul 21 2014Parents often wish they could be in two places at once. A feature from Toyota now gives them the next best thing: The ability to yell at their children from a distance. The feature, known as Easy Speak, was introduced in the 2014 Highlander and can now be had in Toyota's Sienna minivan. It allows drivers to use a microphone to communicate with passengers via the car's speakers, all while keeping their eyes on the road. This can come in handy when your brood starts their territorial shoving matches. There's also an optional two way conversation mirror, which allows parents to keep check in on the action without having to turn their head around. These are welcome features. A three-week study from the Monash University Accident Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia showed that children – not telephones – are more likely to distract people while driving. Parents were distracted on 90 of 92 trips studied by the researchers, racking up an average of three minutes of distracted driving per 16 minute trip. Cell phones only made up one percent of that distracted drive time. Related Gallery Coolest minivans of all time Weird Car News Toyota Minivan/Van
Volkswagen loses thousands of vehicles in Chinese explosion
Thu, Aug 13 2015Yesterday, a blazing, explosive fireball erupted from a port in the city of Tianjin, in China, lighting up the night sky and shattering windows with the force of 21 tons of TNT. Hundreds were injured and the death toll continues to rise, with the most recent reports claiming 50 were killed. While the human cost of this tragedy simply can't be overstated, it hasn't taken long for corporations to look into what the enormous explosion cost them. And for Volkswagen, the answer is quite a lot. According to our friends at Jalopnik, a Chinese source claims the German giant, which remains one of the PRC's most popular brands, lost thousands of vehicles. The automotive casualty sheet lists 1,065 Touaregs, 391 Beetles, 257 Tiguans, 114 Golfs, 84 Up! minicars, 39 SportVans, and 28 Magotans (a locally built version of the Passat). While those are the only vehicles listed, the Chinese source said over 2,700 vehicles were destroyed. For example, both Land Rover and Renault lost an unspecified number of Discovery SUVs and Koleos CUVs, respectively. The explosion also affected Toyota. Its research and design facility with joint-venture partner Sichuan FAW also suffered an unspecified amount of damage. You can check out the translated source article here. As Google Translate jobs go, though, this one is particularly bad, but it still offers some details of the automotive cost of this disaster.
New Toyota semiconductors could increase hybrid fuel efficiency by 10%
Wed, 21 May 2014Toyota may have an ace up its sleeve in the fuel economy wars, as it's developed a new type of semiconductor that will allegedly help the company's hybrids net a ten-percent improvement in fuel economy.
The tech is still in development, although Toyota is already reporting five-percent gains during testing, six years before it plans to implement the new semiconductor in production vehicles, meaning the ten-percent improvement doesn't seem like an untenable goal. That is, until you hear from Kimimori Hamada, the project general manager of Toyota's electronics division.
"We are aiming for great improvement in fuel economy and miniaturization," Hamada told Automotive News. "This is a very challenging target."
