Even Tesla job fair gets too much attention, causes traffic jam

Sun, May 4 2014

We know that when it comes to Tesla, every little thing has the potential to explode into the popular consciousness. Whether it's the rare fire or a good conspiracy theory, any news is good news. But we thought that this was just true on the Internet. Turns out, even the company's neighbors can't seem to get enough. Case in point: a planned day-long company job fair that had to be cancelled after just two hours. Lines were already long when the fair opened up at 8 am yesterday, according to local media. Then, things got so crazy that the Fremont Police Department had to send out two Tweets, asking people to avoid the area around Tesla's Fremont facility "due to heavy vehicle traffic." Tesla offered its own Tweeted suggestion, saying that the, "job fair is closed for today" and "We urge those who we were unable to interview to go to http://www.teslamotors.com/careers and apply online." That may be cold comfort the the people in line who didn't get a chance to apply for a new job at the electric automaker, but it does give the web one more thing to talk about when it comes to Tesla.

Tesla Model S P85D is a ruby beauty at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show

Mon, Jan 12 2015

The Tesla Model S P85D is the current star in the Tesla lineup by offering massive performance potential in an electric package. With 691 horsepower spinning all four wheels (470 hp of that just in the rear), the sport sedan can hit 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds in the fantastically named "Insane" driving mode and reach a top speed of 155 miles per hour. At least one video even shows it beating a Ferrari in an impromptu drag race. The example on display at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show provides a perfect up-close look at one of these crimson beauties. Sporting dark wheels and a carbon fiber rear spoiler, the exterior certainly doesn't hide the P85D's high-performance ability. The interior brings its own sporty opulence with carbon trim, sport seats and an Alcantara headliner. It looks like a fantastic place to spend time, and you can check it out in the gallery from the show, above. Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla owner's garage makeover, Lucid signs deal with LG Chem

Wed, Dec 21 2016

A Tesla owner has remodeled his garage to resemble a Tesla showroom. The Model S owner, who also runs Teslainventory.com, painted one wall a very specific shade of red, mounted a Tesla logo on it, and even bought the same table and stools used in some showrooms. He also documented the transformation, and gives tips on how other fans can give their own garage a makeover. Check it out in the video above, and read more at Electrek. Lucid Motors will source lithium-ion batteries from LG Chem. Lucid's batteries will use proprietary cell chemistry developed in partnership with LG. Lucid also has a battery supply deal with Samsung SDI for its first vehicle, but says it could use batteries for other companies through its own supply business, or for specific performance variants of its electric sedan. "The differing performance attributes available from the two cell suppliers provide Lucid with maximum flexibility to select the best cell for each application," Lucid says. Read more in the press release, or at Green Car Congress. Nissan, Renault, and Mitsubishi will share an electric vehicle platform. As other automakers are building their own mass market EVs, these three are teaming up in order to be able to offer their own models at prices competitive to their gasoline powered counterparts. According to the Nikkei, EVs from the three companies will all use the same platform as the upcoming 2018 Nissan Leaf, and will share motors, inverters, and batteries.
