Smart Car 2009 Fortwo Pure - Low Miles - Cutie Must See! Great Mpg! No Reserve! on 2040-cars
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
This is the super fun fantastically cute Smart Fortwo car - made by Mercedes in France! Original owner moving out of the country so need to help this much loved car find a new owner. Miles per gallon is near 40! Save big on gas with the 8 gallon tank. It is in much loved condition, no accidents, super reliable, smoke-free and garaged the entire 4 years and used only about half the miles of a car this age. You only need to get the car serviced once per year - no oil changes or other service required - once a year is it, and this car has been serviced yearly at the local Las Vegas Mercedes dealer and given a clean bill of health (records included). It has never had any mechanical problems that disabled it, never towed, only one clogged intake valve that caused it to run rough till we drove it to the dealership. We used a trickle charger to keep the battery topped off when travelling (included with purchase). Car software version was upgraded to 2.03 at the dealership for smoother shifting patterns. This car is exactly 4 years old this month, so even though it was purchased during the 2010 model year, it is a 2009 model because the dealer sold 2009 models as new at that time. Dealer was Smart Center Las Vegas. Car features the safety cell design with a roll cage surrounding you and 8 air bags for maximum protection, don't let the size fool you - this car is safety rated. Roomy inside, quiet driving, and holds several pieces of large luggage behind the seats. Tall drivers will see it is quite tall and easily seen in traffic - you will get noticed and people will talk to you when you drive this cutie! You can also park it on the street facing the curb as it is only 8 feet long, making a parking space where there was none before. There is a hard to notice shallow scratch on the passenger side door that probably could be buffed away by a car detailer. Otherwise, no known issues with the car other than normal wear. Runs great in TWO directions - forward AND reverse! Fantastically easy to park and run around town, works great for the Las Vegas desert and AC is cold. Transmission is dual mode - you can leave it in automatic mode if you prefer it simple, but if you want a sportier and smoother experience, use the manual shift mode, where you simply tap the stick forward or backwards to change gears, no clutch. So much more fun to drive that way, as well as smoother shifting if you let off the gas a bit before switching gears. Has incredible power and speed for a 3 cylinder gas miser, and does very well on highway drives all the way to Los Angeles and San Diego on cruise control. The radio was installed by Frys Electronics and can play music from AM/FM plus audio-in for your cell phone (headphone cable included), USB and SDRAM memory sticks. The license plate registration expires at the end of May so will need to be renewed upon receipt. License plates will come with the car as i have no vehicle to transfer them to. Includes webbing to keep grocery bags from falling forward behind the seats on a sudden stop Starting at $1 this Auction has NO RESERVE! I have sold several cars on eBay and it has never let me down yet - thanks bidders! Payment to be made with a deposit via paypal due 24 hours after auction close, with balance to be paid by bank EFT transfer, money order, cashiers check or wire transfer within 7 days of auction close. Suzuki Vitara shows its face ahead of Paris debut
Thu, 28 Aug 2014The death of Suzuki's American automotive operations can be chalked up to many, many things. One thing it cannot be blamed on, however, is the arguable goodness of its products. The company's criminally underrated offerings included the Kizashi sedan, the SX4 compact and your author's personal favorite, the Grand Vitara.
The GV rode on a radically different version of General Motors' Theta platform, which underpins the American manufacturer's current crop of crossovers, like the Chevrolet Equinox. What made the Grand Vitara special, though, was that it wasn't just another run-of-the-mill CUV. Buying the cheapest model meant living with rear-wheel drive rather than the Theta's typical front drive. Spend a bit of money, though, and you'd end up with an honest-to-goodness off-roader, sporting selectable four-wheel drive complete with low-range gearbox. It also comfortably sat five, was reasonably efficient and was quite handsome. We aren't totally sure how it turned into this.
This, of course, being the new Vitara (it replaces the Escudo, the vehicle Americans know as the Grand Vitara), and it will make its global debut at October's Paris Motor Show, which has ditched its four-wheel-drive system for a part-time all-wheel-drive system called Allgrip.
Suzuki planning an electric Jimny among EV, hybrid onslaught
Fri, Jan 27 2023Suzuki introduced the larger, five-door Jimny earlier this month, and an investor presentation detailing the automaker's growth strategy to 2030 shows there's more in store. The automaker's mission is to expand its lineup with vehicles that move toward the "realization of a carbon neutral society." This entails Europe, India and Japan receiving five or six new hybrid and/or battery-electric models each. In Europe, the first of Suzuki's five BEVs will show in financial year 2024; when the rollout is complete, it will include an electric Jimny — the silhouette in the upper right. According to Australian outlet Drive, starting from the upper left, the others are a small people-mover, an electric version of the Fronx crossover Suzuki debuted at Auto Expo in India earlier this month, an unknown hatchback, and the retail version of the EVX concept. An electric Jimny would get the dinky 4x4 back to Europe without any classification trickery. The Japanese brand ended export of the regular four-seat model to Europe in 2020 when it could no longer pass EU emissions. It now sends the same model as a two-seat commercial vehicle. Suzuki sells as many as seven models in European markets not including the Jimny, six of them mild hybrids, one a plug-in hybrid. There have been rumors of a hybrid Jimny for a couple of years, and it's predicted the new five-door will get a hybrid option shortly. The investor presentation deck predicted an eventual powertrain ratio in Europe of 80% battery-electric vehicles, 20% hybrid vehicles. We expect that would mean a near overhaul of the European ranges with current models dropping out in favor of hybrids with electric options. What's unexpected is that the battery-electric Jimny silhouette doesn't show on the slides for the Indian or Japanese markets. In Japan, Suzuki expects sales to end up 80% hybrid, 20% EV, the opposite of Europe. The Indian outpost, known as Maruti Suzuki, is the automaker's largest market, and one local outlet said 1,000 shoppers have paid to reserve a spot for the five-door Jimny every day since the truck's debut. The expected powertrain breakdown there is much more varied than the other two regions at 15% battery-electric vehicles, 25% hybrid, and a 60% share of internal combustion made up of a mix of compressed natural gas, biogas, ethanol and "etc." This would definitely be a market for the hybrid Jimny whenever it shows.
Funning around with ZF's Smart, Advanced Urban Vehicles
Fri, Aug 28 2015ZF has a lot of experience building various electric vehicle parts, including transmissions, but it doesn't put them all together into one cute little package that often. The ZF Advanced Urban Vehicle changes that, and shows what the company can do when it takes bits and pieces of its admittedly cool tech and throws them all into the shell of an old Suzuki Swift. We got to control the all-electric beast at an event in Germany this summer, using nothing but a connected iPad. There were three headline technologies on the AUV (also called the Smart Urban Vehicle): the remote control Smart Parking Assist function, the all-electric rear-axle drive electric Twist Beam (eTB), and the PreVision Cloud Assist. PreVision Cloud Assist ZF had a short track set up for us to try out the PreVision Cloud Assist. The first time around the track, nothing was different. It's not supposed to be. The trick with Cloud Assist is that the car saves real-world driver interactions into its memory and, with the addition of GPS coordinates, starts to learn how to drive the route. Go to work the same way every day? If you're being assisted by a cloud, then all you have to do is steer. The car learns how fast it can take a turn and when it needs to slow down, with the idea here is to let the car move when it can, increasing the efficiency and range of an EV. You're still in charge in case of traffic ahead, but in open road circumstances, you won't need to touch the brakes or the gas. Just the steering wheel. On my second time around the demo track (which had data from other drivers who had tested the car earlier in the day), I kept my feet off the pedals, and the darn thing worked. It slowed me down when necessary to make a curve, but kept me at a brisk pace that felt a bit too fast but was in fact totally appropriate. Electric Twist Beam There's another bit of cool tech hidden near the front wheels. The car uses a MacPherson strut that was modified to offer a wider steering angle, up to 75 degrees, to be exact. ZF calls this the electric Twist Beam (eTB), and it gives the car an incredibly tight turning radius, about 6.5 meters. An axle like this could go into an EV or an ICE vehicle, but it makes a lot of sense in an electric car since it does have a major problem: it can't be powered. No worries, thought ZF engineers, who made the little SUV rear-wheel-drive by adding two electric motors.
