Up for sale is our 1990 Cadillac Brougham in triple black. Reserve is set super low. Do you need classy? Then this is it! It's in really nice unmolested condition. Low original 59K miles. Its like a time capsule. This would make a great daily driver, Sunday driver, Uber car, executive car or more. You will be hard pressed to find one in this condition, especially in the black more desirable color of a caddy. This is the last of the large long hood smooth riding American cars and is sure to become collectible soon if not already since Its almost 25 years old. Detroit will never build cars like this again. This is FULL SIZE which is very comfy and roomy. I always get a thumbs up when driving around town so if your looking for something that don't bring attention then this wouldn't be the car for you. Mechanically its in excellent condition and drives and shifts smoothly. Oil changes were done every 3K miles roughly. The A/C blows cold and nice. This Brougham has the more powerful and desirable 5.7 V8 power plant engine. It leaks no fluid or oil so you won't have to worry when you park it on a cement driveway or in your garage. This black beauty originally belonged to a sucessful real estate developer who lived in NY/NJ area and moved to Southern California in 1992 . He always lived in full service high rise condos where the car was garaged and parked out of the sun and weather. The black gloss paint still shines to this day and is a pleasure to wax. The interior and leather seats are in very nice condition as the photos will show. The leather seats are still soft and feel as if they are still brand new from the factory. The headliner is in mint perfect condition and doesn't sag like most do in this era of Cadillac. The original leather bound manual and special original gold keys do come with the car. This model is more unique than other Fleetwoods in 1990 from what I can tell. The difference is that it was custom ordered from the dealer with some very unique features such as rear window sliding curtains, dual drop down lighted make up mirrors in the back seat on the headliner. (you can see the added sticker on the door near the vin number tag in the photos below) The rare sliding curtains are in excellent condition and work properly. It also has the original cell phone that is mounted on the hump. I believe it can still be hooked up for you nostalgia buffs.  It also has the self closing power trunk. It was pricy when new as it was over $36K back then. With inflation this car would be close to 70K today if they made it. The car is not mint since it is 24 years old because of checks in paint, scratches, dings, etc but it is in very nice shape all around and it is original. If your looking for a showpiece it wouldn't take much to bring it to that level. Even the auto check score is way above normal as you will see above. The caddy is sold as-is. Shipping arrangement is up to the buyer. We can drop the car off to a local car shipper if that helps. Most cars cost roughly $400 to $1500 to ship depending on your location from my area. Payment will be in cash or cashiers check. A paypal deposit of $500 is due within 48 hours of auction closing if won. Bid to win this black beauty!

Junkyard Gem: 2008 Suzuki Reno

Thu, Sep 29 2022

Next time you're hosting a car-trivia night at your local junkyard/bar (hey, such places exist), you might try to stump your guests with a really tough one: What was the last US-market car to be designed entirely by Daewoo prior to the GM takeover? Sure, Americans could buy the Daewoo-badged Lanos, Nubira, and Leganza for a few years in the early 2000s, and the Verona was really just a slightly updated Leganza with Suzuki badges pasted on. The Chevy Aveo/Pontiac G3 was the descendant of the Lanos, but that special Daewoo sauce had been diluted by other GM flavors by the time it hit our shores. I say the answer is the Daewoo Lacetti — yes, that Lacetti — which was sold in the United States as the Suzuki Forenza (in sedan form) and Suzuki Reno (as a hatchback). Here's an example of one of the very last Renos you could buy here, found in a car graveyard near Denver, Colorado. The South Korea-built Reno never made much of an impression on the reviewers at this — or, I'm pretty sure, any — publication, despite having been styled by Giugiaro, though it was very reasonably priced during its 2005-2008 American sales run. My only experience driving the Reno comes from the time I rented one in South Carolina for just $9.98 a day. For that price, I thought it was a perfectly serviceable transportation appliance. Suzuki had been building cars for GM since the first Cultus hit American showrooms as the 1985 Chevrolet Sprint, and ties between the two companies became stronger as the 20th century became the 21st. They joined forces to buy bankrupt Daewoo in 2004, with American Suzuki selling the hastily-rebadged Nubira starting the next year. After a bit of excitement over the promising Suzuki Kizashi, American Suzuki filed for bankruptcy in 2012 and ceased selling cars here the following year. Don't feel too bad for Suzuki, though — in Japan, the company has had years of smash sales success with the Hustler, and of course Suzuki motorcycles and ATVs remain popular here. How much was this little Daewoo when new? With the base five-speed manual transmission, the MSRP on the base '08 Reno was $13,839, or about $19,425 in 2022 dollars. However, this car has the automatic transmission, an $1,100 option ($1,545 now).  You did get air conditioning and an AM/FM stereo in the base '08 Reno. This car has the optional CD player with AUX input. Honda had VTEC and Daewoo had D-TEC.

Suzuki previews new S-Cross compact CUV ahead of Paris debut

Fri, 10 Aug 2012

Despite having one heck of a lackluster presence here in the United States, Suzuki still manages to do well in other markets. That in mind, the automaker continually releases new products and concept cars at international auto shows that aren't destined for U.S. consumption, but this might not be one of those times.
The aging SX4 crossover is in need of replacement, and if Suzuki is still committed to selling passenger cars in the States, something fresh like this S-Cross concept could be just the ticket. Suzuki has, after all, confirmed that the S-Cross will eventually make its way into production.
We have no other details to divulge about the S-Cross, except that it's a small crossover concept and that it will make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in September. Suzuki says that the S-Cross has a "Emotion x Quality x Aerodynamics" design theme that uses "distinctive dynamic lines that start on the front bumper, sweep across the doors, and continue to the rear of the body." No offense, Suzuki, but we've heard that before.

Suzuki calls in 26,000 Daewoo-built Veronas for overheating lights

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

Suzuki is recalling yet another Daewoo-built model due to possible problems with the daytime running light module in the instrument panel. This time it covers about 25,899 units of the Suzuki Verona from the 2004 through 2006 model years that need fixing. Like the repair campaign of the Forenza and Reno in May, it's possible for the part to overheat, melt and potentially cause a fire.
According to the Chronology of Principal Events section in the defect notice submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this recall was actually a direct result of the Forenza/Reno campaign. After finding the problem in those vehicles, General Motors Korea started investigating for more affected models and discovered that the Verona was also at risk. However, the report says that no cases of melting or fires have been found in the Verona.
Obviously, Suzuki will be notifying affected owners and will replace the DRL module free of charge. Scroll down to read the recall request or check out the full defect notice in PDF format, here.
