1988.5 (Square vent) Suzuki Samurai Hardtop
Picked this up after it had been sitting for 3 years, PO had just installed:
New Clutch, new clutch cable, new throttle cable.
Vehicle was towed behind a motorhome for years so actual 'engine use' mileage is less.
1.3L carb'd SOHC engine runs well, new O2 sensor and A/C equipment removed
5speed trans works well, has typical 'slop', 4X4 and locking hubs work perfect
Usual squeaks and rattles, Clean NC title in mt name, Registration paid for 1 year and dirt cheap to insure (my policy was $57 for 6 months!)
Recent work I have done:
-New Rugged Ridge Grey Cloth Drivers and Passenger Seats (Drivers installed, Passenger arrives in the next 72hrs and will be installed prior to sale)
-Interior was stripped and Coated in Stain Black Rustoleum
-Vehicle sheetmetal corners and door bottoms filled with Sound/Moisture/Vibration resistant AutoFoam
-Entire floor/doors and Headliner covered in FatMat Sound Deadening
-New Grey Vinyl Marine-Grade Door Panels and Rear panels (OK fit, not perfect)
-New Custom matching Grey Cloth headliner
-New Custom Grey Complete carpeting snap-in by a known Porsche restorer
-Exterior lightly sanded and primed in Rustoleum Satin Black
-New interior door latches
-New Rear Bumper
Was going for FUNCTIONALITY, not looks on this build. Can be painted by the new owner or left in current Black Anti-rust primer.
Some minor rust sanded off on hood edge/door bottoms. One area eaten thru behind drivers rear wheel ground out and filled with foam, sealed from both sides.
Rear seat removed and disposed off all carpeted. Windows bars reinstalled and roof bar reinstalled. Heat and Fan works all gauges work, no stereo.
Weather stripping on door but needs plastic clips to hold it in place better. Exterior originally White (see underhood pic) and Interior was Brown, so seat belt fabric and dash are still Brown)
CHEAP to maintain and operate, RARE hardtop model! I drive it daily, there are some suspension squeaks and clunks, tires are OK, original rims 15", brakes great, has the occasional 'clicky start issue' but always runs, and cool (1/2 or less on Temp gauge regardless of driving style or ambient temps)
Missing inside door pulls and needs windows felt trim to seal/quite them properly.
Included:
-New exterior mirror and door handle
-New front rotors in box
-New Stainless Steel Rocker Covers
-NEW Black Window Cranks

Suzuki Jimny pickup concept heading to Tokyo Auto Salon
Thu, Dec 27 2018Some of the best news this year is coming at the tail end of 2018. Suzuki's Jimny is already pretty awesome, but for the upcoming 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon, Suzuki is preparing something quite special for its little off-roader: a Jimny pickup! Suzuki based the concept on the Sierra trim level. The truck is designed to be an active sidekick for customers who need the convenience of a pickup for either DIY stuff or adventuring. The retro style is immensely cool: gold bodywork, wood sides, different grille, light bar, white roof and matching white wheels with chromed hubcaps — the entire thing is like a 1970s Suzuki aftermarket parts catalogue applied to a new Jimny. The cab has been shortened to ditch the rear seats, and a short bed has been tacked on without lengthening the wheelbase. If you ask us, the wheelbase even looks shorter than stock. Accompanying the pickup is a "Survive" concept that looks ready for adventuring. The stock bumpers have been replaced with sturdy metal ones that improve the approach and departure angle. There's also an external rollover cage, a winch, custom wheels and some Defender-style aluminum diamond plate. Suzuki says the Jimny Survive has been outfitted for traversing "severe nature" under extreme conditions. We'd happily take both of these mountaineering or even for a weekend trip to the cottage. While both of these trucks are obviously concepts, they show the direction where a Jimny owner could feasibly take their truck. And since some earlier generation Jimnys have been available as pickups, it's not totally improbable to imagine a production Jimny pickup somewhere in the next decade. Here's hoping. Suzuki reopens India plant post-riot with police outnumbering workers
Fri, 24 Aug 2012Suzuki's plant in Manesar, India builds cars for Australia, specifically its Alto small car. Or at least they were building cars before violent worker riots forced the factory to close. The plant has been idled for five weeks as a result of worker violence that led to the death of one manager and 95 injuries. The riot was spurred over a labor dispute - specifically, a gulf in salaries between temporary workers and their salaried counterparts who earn triple the contract workers' wages.
According to reports, on Tuesday, the factory re-opened with more than 1,200 police officers stationed around the plant. The staff of actual workers at the plant numbers just 75 currently, meaning the police force greatly outnumbers Suzuki employees.
The number of employees will eventually grow to 300, and the officers will run in shifts of 100 at a time, but the initial disparity of workers to police is meant as a show of force to the more than 500 permanent and 500 temporary workers who were found to be involved in a July 18 riot.
Suzuki ending auto sales in Canada, too
Wed, 27 Mar 2013Suzuki of Japan has reportedly made the decision that almost everyone assumed it would make when it announced it was leaving the US market: when the 2014 model year concludes, it will no longer sell cars in Canada. With six employees overseeing its auto business in Canada and a dealer network that has shrunk to 55 outlets in the country, we can't say we're shocked.
At the time of the US announcement, however, the senior VP of sales and marketing in the automotive division of Suzuki Canada said it would be able to survive on its own because, among other reasons, Canadians prefer smaller, more fuel-efficient cars that fit the company's offerings. Five months later, after some time to think about a 30-percent drop in sales to open up 2013 instead of the 1.4-percent increase in sales that Suzuki Canada posted last year, things have evidently changed.
The Globe and Mail reports that as is in the US, Suzuki's motorcycle, ATV and marine divisions in Canada will remain.
