This Samurai has been my personal daily driver for the past six months and is well tested. Rod's Auto Sales, also known as SamuraiSalvage, located in Marshalltown, IA is selling this reconditioned Samurai at auction. (Google SamuraiSalvage to find our website). (We offer the nation's largest collection of new and used Samurai, Sidekick and Tracker parts---call Rod at 641-751-2468 with questions). The 1988.5 Samurai was the best and last tin top imported to the U.S. Updates included: lower usable 5th gear ratio, larger radiator, outboard sway bar (making it more stable), improved leaf springs with teflon inserts (for a much better ride), improved interior, improved seats with 2" more leg room. This Samurai has many new parts replaced by our shop, which include: our 100 horse engine with newer Weber and Pacesetter header (approx. 30,000 on engine), new brakes, new wheel bearings, new exhaust system, new heavy duty clutch, rebuilt transmission and transfer case. Very good interior. Excellent dash with AM/FM radio. Digital clock. Two after market super-bright interior lights. Everything works, including all lights, wipers, washer, etc... Heater works great and has new 195 degree thermostat. Samurai has the maximum sized 235x75R15 A/T tires that will fit without having a lift kit. New 2" wheel spacers have been installed making a 4" wider stance, making it much more stable. These tires do not need the spacers for clearance and they may be removed if you do not want the tires sticking out of the flares. It has a heavy duty Stow Master folding tow bar included (See in photos). This set-up is very easy to use and always there when you need it. It has a rear tow bar with a new 2" receiver. The Samurai can be flat towed with transmission in second gear and transfer case in neutral and the hubs in free position. (see photo of it being towed). The new heavy duty, powder coated roof rack/basket will be sold as a $1200 option. You will add this price to the selling price if you want the roof rack. This roof rack is heavy duty and ready to carry your trophy beast! (See our SamuraiSalvage Facebook page to see past customers with their custom built Samurais). This Samurai has our 1.3 Hi-Po engine, Weber carburetor, HD clutch kit and Pacesetter header with new exhaust. Price for this package alone is $3,000 plus $1,000 installation. Rebuilt transmission is $799. Rebuilt transfer case is $799, plus installation.New brakes, New wheel bearings. Transmission shift lever update. Transfer case shift lever update. Heavy duty steering stabilizer. All this is included in your winning bid. Please consider all of this when bidding or making offers. Reserve is very reasonable. I will do a buy now and end auction early if interested, then ship it to you ASAP. This Samurai has plenty of power to run 60-65 mph. We can install optional equipment such as: reduction transfer case gears, winch bumper/winch, lift kit, lockers, larger tires, etc. for extra $$. This Samurai is also for sale on our lot and we reserve the right to end the auction early for a buy now sale. Once the reserve is met, it will no longer be for sale outside of this auction, making it fair for all bidders. We can provide reasonable transport quotes for delivery right to your driveway! Call Rod at 641-751-2468 with any questions. (We sell all new and used Samurai and Sidekick parts. Google SamuraiSalvage for a complete inventory.) The Samurai is the only street legal SUV that is narrow and light enough to be registered for Iowa and other states DNR rules. Suzuki ending auto sales in Canada, too
Wed, 27 Mar 2013Suzuki of Japan has reportedly made the decision that almost everyone assumed it would make when it announced it was leaving the US market: when the 2014 model year concludes, it will no longer sell cars in Canada. With six employees overseeing its auto business in Canada and a dealer network that has shrunk to 55 outlets in the country, we can't say we're shocked.
At the time of the US announcement, however, the senior VP of sales and marketing in the automotive division of Suzuki Canada said it would be able to survive on its own because, among other reasons, Canadians prefer smaller, more fuel-efficient cars that fit the company's offerings. Five months later, after some time to think about a 30-percent drop in sales to open up 2013 instead of the 1.4-percent increase in sales that Suzuki Canada posted last year, things have evidently changed.
The Globe and Mail reports that as is in the US, Suzuki's motorcycle, ATV and marine divisions in Canada will remain.
2019 Suzuki Jimny images leaked — first new generation in 20 years
Thu, Jun 7 2018The new-generation Suzuki Jimny is ready for a reveal. Photos of a production version shown at a preview event leaked online via Instagram, and they show a front shot and a front three-quarter shot of the completely redesigned small SUV. The lines and side sheetmetal pressings of the no-nonsense, go-anywhere Jimny are a clear nod to classic '70s and '80s models. The Australian website CarAdvice notes that the lime green Jimny seen here is clearly a home market version without any wheel arch extensions, as the vehicle needs to be as narrow as possible to comply with Japanese width regulations — it is alsos likely that the Jimny here is powered with a 660cc engine from the tiny kei car class. Outside of Japan, the hips might be wider, and a recent spy shot depicting finished vehicles at the factory shows slightly wider wheel arches. Every millimeter counts, it seems — just when you want to avoid scraping a rock on an off-road trail. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Export market Jimnys should have a one-liter turbo or a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter unit. Inside, the Jimny will feature a hard-wearing interior with a chunky dashboard, a render of which was also leaked online a short while ago. Everything about that dash appears to be designed with functionality as the top requirement, with just a large central touchscreen serving as a reminder that we're getting closer to 2020, not 1980. The 2019 model year Jimny is expected to hit Suzuki-selling markets by late 2018. Jimny updates are few and far between, as the current generation was first introduced a solid 20 years ago. Junkyard Gem: 1998 Suzuki Swift, Schnorchel Edition
Sat, Aug 20 2022To enable the use of internal-combustion engines underwater, German submarines during the later years of World War II used a pipe system swiped from the Dutch to suck in air and spit out exhaust. This rig was known as the Schnorchel, and a similar setup can be used on modern trucks to keep the engine from inhaling water or dust during river-fording or off-roading. In fact, you can buy a new Ford Bronco with a factory schnorchel (or snorkel, if you prefer the English spelling) right now. Purchasers of new Suzuki Swifts, however, had no such factory — or even aftermarket — option, and so the final owner of today's Junkyard Gem had to fabricate one using hardware-store components. Yes, this is a fully functional air-intake snorkel, made from PVC pipe and entering the engine compartment via not-so-precision holes sliced through the fender and inner fender. Once in the engine compartment, the pipe connects directly to the engine's throttle body. Sure, for serious underwater use you need to waterproof the distributor plus any sensitive electrical components, not to mention find some way to keep water from getting into transmission vents and the like. We can assume, however, that this snorkel wasn't intended for sustained underwater use. Other limitations of the Swift as an off-road machine, such as suspension design, ground clearance, and lack of four-wheel-drive, may have become apparent once the snorkel was installed. There are some wheel flares installed, to enable the use of oversized wheels and tires. The Swift is the same car as the Suzuki-built Geo Metro, which became the Chevrolet Metro starting in the 1998 model year. Known in its Japanese homeland as the Cultus, these cars were sold in every far-flung corner of the world. It appears that you could buy a new Cultus (with Margalla badges) in Pakistan as recently as a few years ago. This isn't the first interestingly modified second-generation Swift I've found in a Denver-area car graveyard in recent years. Perhaps the "Slokyo Drift" 1996 Swift was modified by the same person. There's just something about a tiny, fully depreciated car that inspires creativity. The 1998 Geo Metro was available with either a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine or a 1.3-liter four-banger, but every new Swift sold here that year was a big-block car with the 1.3 and its 70 horsepower. This one even has the five-speed manual transmission, for added driving fun. Just 166,280 miles on the clock.
