Suzuki Samurai for sale, we had a Suzuki Gran Vitara V6 and auto trans installed in it to give it a little more power and make it easier to drive.  It had a stock four banger in it with a stick shift when we bought it, where we were in the mountains we did a lot of snow driving and in deeper snow the stick shift just lost too much power when shifting so we had the V6 and auto trans installed.  It was a lot better in the snow with the more powerful engine and auto trans.  It also has a brand new Gran Vitara radiator installed in it, electric fan for cooling.  We never had any problems with overheating, but the old radiator was leaking so installed the new one a year or so ago when we were going to put it back on the road.

A local 4X4 shop did the installation and it turned out very well done.  We've owned the Samurai for about 12 years, and haven't used it for about 4 years.  We had a place in the mountains and used it quite a bit, now we're flat-landers and don't four wheel like we use to.  The Samurai ran when parked, but now it doesn't start, seems like there is a connection that's gone bad and I'm traveling quite a bit for work and don't have time to find the problem.  The battery in the picture is dead, I have a new rebuilt battery installed in it. The 4X4 shop that did the changeover advised the engine was a 2004 with 85K miles on it, engine ran good when parked, no smoke, lots of power.  I removed the door panels to install aluminum diamond plate panels, the blank panels go with the car, again, just don't have time to work on it.  Tires and wheels are in great shape, it has the cartop rack and rock slider guard rails, the differentials are also armored.  We didn't rock climb with it, but the guy we bought it from had started to install rock climbing gear on it.    We have a clear title in hand.

The paint is original, there's one spot on the back passenger side corner where the paint is bubbled in an area about the size of your hand, otherwise no rust but the paint is faded.  Stock hood latch was a pain, so changed it over to Jeep type hooks mounted on the front of the hood.  Floors and undercarriage are in great shape, no serious rust, we're in a very dry area.  Bucket seats need new covers, back seat is in good shape, carpet is worn in a couple of places.  Transfer case worked without any problems, front hubs have manual locks, the rear differential is not locked.

No reserve auction, please don't bid unless you want a project vehicle and plan on following through and complete the purchase.  Vehicle is sold as-is, where-is, no guarantees or warrantees implied or given.  We buy and sell quite a bit on eBay, please check our feedback, we describe the items we sell accurately and will assist the purchaser any way possible when vehicle is picked up.  Buyer is responsible for shipping cost and vehicle pick up, vehicle must be picked up/shipped within 30 days of close of auction unless other arrangements have been made.  $500 non-refundable deposit is due via PayPal within 24 hours of auction close, balance due within 5 days of close of auction.  We do not want any trades, we wish to sell the vehicle only, thanks for looking.

New Suzuki Swift Sport to be lighter and torquier

Wed, Sep 13 2017

The Suzuki Swift Sport has been one of the most interesting hot hatches of the last decade, well at least outside the United States. Its first iteration was released in 2005, leaving behind its crummy Geo Metro guise in favor of something more in line dynamically with the segment best. Though it may have been an underdog from day one, the Swift Sport proved itself to be both fun and reliable The new car promises to up the ante with a stiffer structure and a footprint increased courtesy a 20 mm-longer wheelbase and a stance that's 40 mm wider and 15 mm lower. Power comes from a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder Suzuki cheekily calls the Boosterjet, ditching the old 1.6-liter naturally aspirated inline-4. The downsized, intercooled 138-horsepower turbo engine gives the Swift Sport only four more horsepower than the old unit, but there is a lot more torque available and at lower revs. Another major improvement is a weight loss of nearly 180 pounds -- definitely a big deal in a small car like this -- as the new model tips the scales at less than 2,140 lbs. Suzuki says the feel of the six-speed manual shifter has been improved, too. "It's lighter, sharper, quicker. It's more aggressive and emotive, but we've also refined the elements that make it practical to use every day," said Suzuki chief engineer Masao Kobori. "The clutch feel, the manual transmission shift throw, the seats and steering wheel -- everything that puts the driver at the heart of the experience." Sounds neat, though with Suzuki gone from the U.S. market, it'll remain forbidden fruit for American customers. On the other hand, you can apparently rent these in Germany. Nurburgring rental anyone? Recharge Wrap-up: NASA's EV plane, GM and Navy partner on fuel cell drone sub

Sun, Jun 26 2016

NASA is building an all-electric test aircraft called the X-57. The lightweight plane's design balances speed with efficiency. The wings house two main propellers at their tips, with twelve smaller motors with retractable prop blades dotting the wing's lead edge. This helps it get the lift it needs to take off while reducing drag in the air, a delicate balance rooted in wing design. The X-57 is part of NASA's 10-year New Aviation Horizons program to make aircraft quieter, more efficient, and less polluting. Fans of The Right Stuff are sure to be pleased to see X-designated planes back in action. Read more at Wired. Suzuki has made its Baleno hatchback more efficient with a mild hybrid system. The European model has a lithium-ion battery pack under the front passenger seat that stores energy from a regenerative braking system to supplement power from the 1.2-liter engine during acceleration. Suzuki says the system improves the Baleno's fuel economy and reduces CO2 emissions by about five percent. Read more from Automotive News Europe. The Borgward BX7 plug-in hybrid SUV has won several Plus X Awards. The revived German automaker's PHEV received awards in the categories of Design, High Quality, Ergonomics, and Functionality. Any Plus X Award winner must display added value, which the panel of judges call the "Plus X Factor." The BX7 launched in China earlier this year, with plans to go on sale in India later this year and Europe soon after that. Read more at Green Car Congress. General Motors and the US Navy are teaming up to power underwater drones with hydrogen fuel cells. The Navy's goal is to provide its large displacement unmanned undersea vehicles (UUVs) with 60 days of operation between refueling. "Our in-water experiments with an integrated prototype show that fuel cells can be game changers for autonomous underwater systems," says Frank Herr, head of Ocean Battlespace Sensing at the Office of Naval Research. "Reliability, high energy, and cost effectiveness – all brought to us via GM's partnering – are particularly important as Navy looks to use UUVs as force multipliers." GM says that just as on-road experience gained through its Project Driveway fuel cell test fleet is valuable, automotive customers stand to benefit from lessons learned from this naval project. Suzuki Jimny LCV is a bare-bones two-seater

Fri, Jul 9 2021

The Suzuki Jimny is a truly versatile vehicle, and we don't just mean in its prodigious off-road capabilities. Turns out, the compact 4x4 can be configured in a variety of ways to skirt the road tax rules and enthusiast demands of various markets, making it an even more desirable proposition for a budget four-wheeler. The latest variant arrives in the form of the Jimny LCV for the U.K. market. That stands for Light Commercial Vehicle, and as such it's not subject to the same strict emissions rules as passenger cars. It also means that it doesn't come with any rear seats, expanding the cargo area to just a hair over 30 cubic feet. In fact, the U.K.'s emissions laws were so strict, Suzuki was forced to take the Jimny off the market in early 2020. After a year's hiatus, this workaround was the only way to bring the popular SUV back to old Blighty. There's only one trim level to the Jimny LCV. It comes with solid colors, but you can order metallic or two-tone paint for an extra charge, its only option. As with most LCVs, there's a safety partition separating the cargo from the front seats. Compared to the passenger version with all seats folded flat, there's an extra 1.2 cubic feet of hauling space. The Jimny LCV might just be the latest version, but it's not the only one. There's already a narrow-body and small displacement version to qualify it as a kei car in its native Japan. Also, there's the recently announced Jimny Lite to serve as a blank canvas for enthusiasts who want to build their own rig. Like the Jimny Lite, the Jimny LCV comes with analog climate controls as opposed to digital, a traditional stereo in place of a touchscreen, halogen headlights instead of LED, 15-inch steel wheels instead of aluminum and a five-speed manual as the only transmission option. It differs from the cost-saving Lite, however, in that the LCV retains its fog lamps. Of course, it the LCV still retains the things that make it a great off-roader, including the ladder-frame construction, solid front and rear axles, and low-range gearing. In essence, it's a wink to true enthusiasts who missed their chance to get a Jimny prior to 2020. Suzuki U.K. says that it will be "available in very limited numbers" for 2021. So, if you live there and want a new Jimny, the four-wheeling gods have given you a rare second chance. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
