The grille bars were changed from horizontal to vertical for the LJ20. The engine was replaced with an updated, water-cooled unit (the L50), and its 28 PS (21 kW) enabled the LJ to reach 80 km/h (50 mph).[5] A special version with the spare tire mounted behind the passenger seat allowed for two small rear seats, facing each other. The introduction of left hand drive signalled Suzuki's worldwide ambitions for the truck. The Hard Top (Van) was also introduced when the LJ20 arrived, equipped with smaller, 15 inch wheels.[4] Suzuki themselves did not export them to America, a US company called IEC (International Equipment Co.) imported them. Export Jimnys had the spare tire mounted on the outside, as Kei regulations on length did not apply. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/kcke07eolhpuy11/-qyPcaRhpm CLEAN / CLEAR TITLE IN HAND 4 X 4 WORKS GREAT 4 SPEED GARAGE KEPT RECENT ENGINE OVERHAUL, FINISHED YESTERDAY NEW TIRES INSTALLED YESTERDAY DRIVES GREAT, JUST OFF OF A FRESH TRIAL RUN, NO PROBLEMS NEW BRAKES, (REAR / FRONT WHEEL CYLINDERS) NEW PLUGS NEW HEAD GASKET NEW WATER PUMP NEW TRANSFER CASE LAST YEAR, BUT VEHICLE WAS NOT ON THE ROAD UNTIL YESTERDAY, SO TRANSFER CASE IS STILL NEW TRANSMISSION WORKS PERFECTLY, AS DOES FOUR WHEEL DRIVE BURNS, LEAKS, USES NO OIL THIS IS A 2 CYLINDER, 2 STROKE ENGINE, FROM THE FACTORY RADIATOR HAS BEEN GONE THROUGH, WORKS PERFECTLY, NO OVERHEATING ROLL BAR TAIL GATE OPERATIONAL, NO RUST ENTIRE VEHICLE HAS VERY MINIMAL RUST, VERY MINIMAL, SEE PICS!!!!! Suzuki recalling 184k GM-built models for fire risk
Fri, 23 May 2014Suzuki is recalling 184,244 total units of the 2004-2008 Forenza (pictured above) and 2005-2008 Reno manufactured under contract by Daewoo, now General Motors Korea, between September 1, 2003, through July 30, 2008, for a risk of fire. The exact split in terms of number of each model isn't available yet.
In the vehicles, the heat generated in the headlight switch or daytime running light module could cause the parts to melt and cause a fire. If this sounds somewhat familiar, it's the same reason that 218,000 units of the 2004-2008 Chevrolet Aveo are being recalled. According to General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler: "It's the same issue."
Adler explained that as the contracted manufacturer, GM is responsible for finding a remedy to this problem and providing it to Suzuki. It's a similar situation as Toyota recalling the Matrix and giving the automaker the repair parts to fix the Pontiac Vibe, which shares the platform.
Suzuki iV-4 Concept is a personalized 'ute for everyone but US
Wed, 11 Sep 2013It's with some sadness that we present to you the Suzuki iV-4 Concept - there's absolutely no way we'll ever see a production Suzuki based off this conceptual design in the States, despite the fact that the brand has quite a small-SUV heritage on our shores. Of course, we won't be seeing any new Suzuki passenger cars or trucks in the US at all...
For the rest of the world, Suzuki's push with this concept is personalization. According to the automaker, the name is broken down as such: "i" stands for "individuality," "V" for "vehicle," and "4" for "4 wheel-drive." A tad convoluted, perhaps, but we'll roll with it.
As far as its styling, the iV4 doesn't break any new ground for Suzuki, recalling its past and current production models with details that include a clamshell hood and a five-slot grille. Suzuki promises a production variant of this concept, and the "individuality" part will be accomplished through a selection of exterior components, colors and textures, though we're not clear what exactly that means or how it will differ from the accepted practice of ordering a unique car through a dealership.
Volkswagen drops "GTi" lawsuit against Suzuki
Tue, 02 Oct 2012Way back in 2004, Volkswagen took umbrage with Suzuki being granted permission to use the nameplate "SWIFT GTi" for a performance variant of its small-car offering (2012 equivalent seen here). Now, eight years and surely some very steep legal bills later, VW has finally dropped its claim against Suzuki.
The General Court of the European Union stated, back in March of this year, that Suzuki's GTi registration could not be confused with VW's "Golf GTI." Volkswagen had appealed that ruling, though has now reportedly called off the dogs. In fact, Germany's Die Welt reports that the appeal has been dead for several weeks now.
This news comes amongst continued arbitration acrimony between the two automakers, all revolving around VW's forced divestiture of nearly 20-percent stake it purchased in Suzuki some two years ago.
