Subaru BRZ tS makes its brief video debut

Ever since Subaru released the BRZ, fans have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of the STI version. But despite the recent release of the tS package, the brand faithful will have to wait a little longer, because the tS stops short of the full STI treatment. But at least it looks the part.
Though the BRZ tS doesn't encompass any major engine mods to speak of, it does benefit from a number of enhancements: a new driveshaft, aero kit, Brembo brakes, Recaro buckets and more. Which may be more than enough for some, but to tip the scales of disappointment, Subaru will only make 500 such examples, and they'll only be available in Japan. So chances are you won't be getting your hands on one, but at least you can admire it from this brief video clip below. It's not much to go on, but that seems about par for the proverbial course.

'Baby Driver' stunt Impreza WRX sells for nearly $70,000

Well that escalated quickly. When we reported that the 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX used for driving stunts in the movie Baby Driver was being auctioned on eBay, bidding had taken the car up to over $40,000. Now the car has sold, and the price rocketed up to $69,100, and there were 71 bids on the car when it sold. That may seem like a large sum of money for a banged up Impreza WRX with a few prior wrecks. But the price starts to make sense considering how unique the car is. Besides starring in a great movie with superb stunts, it's one of the few WRXs out there converted to rear-wheel drive. As stunt driver Jeremy Fry told us, this was done to make it easier to perform some of the stunts. This Impreza isn't the only Baby Driver movie car to sell, either. The same Subaru parts and car dealer selling the WRX was also selling a wrecked, but drivable, Dodge Charger police car. That one didn't attract nearly as much attention though. Subaru investing $400 million for Impreza production in Indiana

As a part of a goal to increase its US sales tally up to 500,000 annual units by the end of the decade, Subaru is investing $400 million in its Lafayette, IN assembly plant in order to start building the Impreza in 2016. According to Automotive News, about half of that investment will be for a new paint plant while another big chunk will be used to extend the assembly line to allow for the increased capacity.
Currently, Subaru's Lafayette plant is responsible for building about 200,000 Legacy, Outback and Tribeca models each year (not including around 100,000 Toyota Camry sedans), but Subaru-specific output will be increased to 300,000 units, requiring an additional 900 new hires as well. Although a previous report suggested the Forester and Impreza would be moving Stateside, this AN article only mentions the hatchback and sedan versions of the Impreza being added to Lafayette - and no mention of the closely related XV Crosstrek.
