Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions about the vehicle, I will be more than glad to answer.  I want you to be happy with this car, and there is a lot to say, I know I will forget to list plenty of details so ask away...

I am the second owner of this Outback, I picked it up in 04 or 05 on lease return with around 60k miles on it and it has been an EXTREMELY reliable friend.  This car is OUTSTANDING in the snow and has never left me stranded.   I wasn't planning on parting ways with her so soon, I really wanted to stick with her until 300,000, but I came across a 2006 WRX wagon with 35k miles in perfect condition at the right price.  If you are a Scooby person, you know how rare that is.

OK, as far as condition goes, this car is the RARE limited edition 5 speed.  It took me a long time to find this one, and this trim has been discontinued in Outbacks since 08 I believe  the limited package with 5 spd is reserved for turbo Scoobies only :(  It has power locks, power windows, heated seats, and EVERYTHING WORKS.  AC blows cold and heat is hot.  Both moonroofs DO NOT LEAK, but the motor on the front one is weak as far as opening and closing.  It does function, but I choose not to open it.  The rear moonroof got stuck open several years back, and the dealer charged me close to $700 to repair it, so I didn't want to chance that happening again.  The sunshades for both moonroofs function perfectly.  Kenwood CD player is good, aftermarket Infinity speakers, all weather mats and cargo tray.

Exterior is very good for its age.

Mechanically, the car is in very good condition for the amount of miles.  I check my oil religiously, and generally add about a 1/2 quart between oil changes.  I will be more than glad to drop the car off at a local (to me) Subaru dealer for inspection, or a mechanic of your choosing in my area.  THIS WOULD BE  AT YOUR EXPENSE, you would have to call and arrange for payment previous to me dropping off the vehicle, and then contact me.  Then I will reach out to them to confirm.  I have bought many motorcycles off eBay by doing this, and I have never been unhappy with the results.

I'd prefer you pick the car up from 07410, but I would not be adverse to driving up to 2 hours to deliver it AT COST TO YOU.  You would also have to pay up front before that happened, I'm not going to drive 4 hours round trip to have someone turn down the car when I arrive.

The car is DEFINATELY "Good" on KBB rating, possibly better, but let's use the "Good" price of $3700 as a good starting point.  The reserve IS lower than that, but the car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time for local sale if the reserve is not met.

Again, I'm sure there are plenty of things I've forgotten, please email me with your questions.

Thanks very much for looking!

Mark Higgins sets new Isle of Man record in Subaru STI

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

Subaru has done it again, setting a new four-wheel lap record around the 37.75-mile TT Mountain Course at the Isle of Man. Mark Higgins in a 2015 WRX STI rocketed through the country roads at an average speed of 116.40 miles per hour to circle the track in 19 minutes, 26 seconds, thereby beating his previous record of 19 minutes 56.7 seconds from 2011 in an STI.
According to Subaru, speeds during the lap ranged from as little as 30 mph to over 160 mph. The STI was mostly stock with the only major mechanical change being different springs and dampers to handle the course's famous bumps at such sustained high speeds. For safety, it also had a rollcage, racing harness, and fire suppression system.
"It was quite a lap we did today and I am really happy to have another record in the bank. The chassis of the new car is so much better it really allowed me to pick up time in each sector in the more technical parts of the course," said Higgins about the run in the Subaru.

Subaru gunning for 500,000 US sales by 2015

Fri, 20 Sep 2013

For the last four years in a row, Subaru has experienced incredible sales growth including record sales of 336,441 units in 2012. This trend is all but guaranteed to continue this year with 281,652 on the books so far, but Automotive News is reporting the automaker has no plans of slowing down anytime soon.
The report says that Subaru is gunning for around 500,000 sales in the US by 2015, which doesn't seem like too far of a stretch considering 2013 sales totals are expected to top 400,000 units. Through August, Subaru's sales are up 29.3 percent compared to 2012, thanks to popular models like the Forester, Outback and, surprisingly, the WRX.
A new WRX is headed for an LA Auto Show reveal while an all-new Legacy is due out next year, and AN adds that Subaru is planning to significantly increase its media spending next year and start production of the Impreza sedan in the US in 2016.

2015 Subaru Outback

Tue, 01 Jul 2014

"We like producing cars that are different." That's the company line trumpeted by several Subaru executives during the launch of the 2015 Outback - one of Fuji Heavy's most successful vehicles to date. Managing Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski accurately noted that while Subaru has never really found salvation with its mainstream sedans, it's the higher-riding, butcher offerings like the Outback and the Impreza-based XV Crosstrek that have been sales stars for the Japanese company. In 2013, for example, Subaru sold nearly three Outbacks for every Legacy it moved. And in 2014, the XV is on pace to outsell the Impreza upon which its based.
But Subarus have always been different, catering to unique customers that desire something a bit more special than your run-of-the-mill sedan or crossover. It's clearly worked, with Subaru having posted 30 months of year-over-year sales increases as of this writing. And even as the automaker's portfolio goes more mainstream, smoothing out its serially awkward styling and gunning for a larger market share here in the United States, that intrinsic Subaru differentiation is still baked in to each and every product.
It's that new Outback we're here to talk about today, a vehicle that's been comprehensively redesigned for the 2015 model year while not shaking up the formula that's made it successful since its inception in the mid-1990s, back when it (arguably) launched what we now know as the crossover utility vehicle segment. It's still plenty different - and plenty good, too.
