2008 Subaru Legacy 3.0 R Limited Sedan 4-door 3.0l Awd on 2040-cars
Ames, Iowa, United States
This Legacy is the top trim level for the year with all the options. Comfortable, smooth, and ready to roll. Non smoker, no pets, clean title in hand. Only 41,800 miles. Still under original powertrain warranty until July 2014, potential to transfer extended factory warranty which is good until July 2015. This car is loaded with leather, heated seats, heated mirrors, heated windshield wipers, navigation, 6 cd changer, power sunroof, keyless entry, paddle shift, variable driving modes (Intelligent for fuel economy, Sport and Sport# for quicker throttle response). The wiring is already in place if you would like to add a subwoofer in the trunk or additional speakers (installed by the previous owner, I have not had subs installed). The only problems are cracked windshield, scuffed wheels, and some minor blemishes on the rear quarters. KBB values this car at $22,000 in good condition, reserve is set WELL below. I took this vehicle on trade for my previous car and have been actively looking for a different vehicle to purchase. As I have now found that vehicle, I would like to sell this sooner rather than later, the low reserve reflects my urgency to sell. This was the service managers car for a Subaru dealership until November 2012. All maintenance is up to date, oil will need to be changed in 2,500 miles. Just to reiterate, there are no issues with this vehicle, I have just found a different vehicle to purchase as this car was always planned to be a temporary driver for myself. Feel free to ask any questions and thanks for looking. Prefer to deal with local sale, shipping within the contiguous US will be considered and at buyers expense. Sale to be considered "as is" and transfer of factory extended warranty condition upon payment, feedback, and complete transaction. Vehicle sold as-is, no returns. Vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time. Non-refundable deposit of $1,000 due within 24 hours of auction close. Remaining balance to be paid within 72 hours of auction close. Thank you! |

Subaru's first hybrid drawing close
Sun, 27 Jan 2013In 2011 Subaru parent company Fuji Heavy Industries confirmed that a hybrid Subaru would debut this year. Ever since, there's been speculation about what kind of technology the gasoline-electric hybrid would use - Subaru's own or some version of the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive, which car would debut the new system - Forester, Legacy, or Outback - and whether it would come to America or be a Japan-only model.
A report in The Detroit Bureau says that whatever that first model is, it could be shown as soon as the New York Auto Show, and while the company feels it's a must-have offering for the Japanese market it will also come to the US. It will have a Subaru-developed mild hybrid system that could have been previewed by the Hybrid Tourer concept shown at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, and is not expected to be able to drive on electric power alone. The Hybrid Tourer used a direct-injected, 2.0-liter boxer engine connected to a CVT and assisted by an electric motor rated at 13 horsepower. Subaru has yet to give anything away about the details of its hybrid plans, so we'll look to New York for the long-awaited unveil.
2015 Subaru WRX gets down and dirty
Fri, 13 Dec 2013Looks rarely tell the whole story. We'll admit to being a bit let down by the Subaru WRX and its rather conservative appearance - where were the gold wheels and the spoilers? Hatchback? World Rally Blue? But after seeing it in this video and hearing that signature, throaty growl while this red example drifts and slides around dirt roads, we're starting to get more excited.
While the growl is the main reason for watching the clip below (you should do that now), Subaru has also thrown in some information about the improved suspension, and increased power. Learn along with us, below.
Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ successor canceled?
Tue, Jan 29 2019Rumors indicate that the Toyota 86 is done for. Japanese Nostalgic Car is quoting Japanese sources as saying Toyota and Subaru have parted ways regarding the 86 and that the current car's replacement is off the table. According to JNC, the Japanese magazine Best Car is readying a report that the 86/BRZ successor has been canceled. JNC also considers the fact that in Japan, there will be a four-cylinder, 197-horsepower version of the new Supra, ready to continue where the 86 will leave the market. Back in 2016 the automaker seemingly confirmed that a replacement for the rear-drive car was under development, but plans can change and with a cheaper Supra version for sale in markets outside the U.S., we have to wonder if the 86 replacement has been shelved. The 86, while balanced, has only received mild enhancements and not a lot of extra power during its near-decade long time on the market, and it isn't such a strong seller that it would necessarily merit the effort of Toyota developing a successor on its own, particularly without the help of a partner like Subaru or BMW. At the same time, Autocar quotes Toyota boss Akio Toyoda on the Supra: "At the end of the day, is there anything better than a tight rear-wheel-drive sports car? I hope this won't be the last Toyota sports car you see from us in the future." While that is far from a solid statement of Toyota's future intent, it paves the way to offerings below the Supra, and shows how much the company boss cares about driver involvement. There is a distinct possibility that the company will re-introduce the MR2 as an electrified, rear-drive sports car – which could still be a joint venture with Subaru, as Japanese Nostalgic Car theorizes. Whatever's in the pipeline – and we hope there is something in the pipeline – it seems Toyota's heart is in the right place: driving the rear wheels. Related Video:
