2009 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport - 80K miles - Buy ME!!

Folks, I hate to say it but i'm selling my Subi.  Why?  Well, a few reasons:

  1. My husband just lost his job last week - have to reduce bills to pay mortgage
  2. I miss my old Subi - this one is just TOO nice (ever heard that excuse?)
  3. I'm going to be using my motorcycle to commute the 85 mile round trip to work

I bought this car about 3-4 months ago, replacing a 2003 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport that I drove to over 210K miles and sold to a teenager for their first car.  But i've since changed jobs (longer commute), the husband lost his job, and I have two motorcycles that will almost double the gas mileage of this car. Plus, for the #2 reason above - This car is just too nice. I've come to realize that a beater car is much better for me and my lifestyle.  This car is beautiful, comfortable, super clean and nice inside.  My old Subi I hauled mulch in - seriously - threw a tarp in the back up over the windows and shoveled it in!!, pulled my motorcycle trailer, threw my 4 dogs in the back, hauled greasy motorcycle parts, tossed my two under 10-year old nieces in.  I just THINK of trying to do that with this car, and I almost shudder in fear.

So, please help me find a new home for this amazingly clean Subaru.  I've driven it about 8K miles in the time and it's performed flawlessly.  One trip was from Western MD to Charlotte, NC, to Eastern NC, and back to Western MD.  1K miles and it purred all the way on cruise control making just about 29 MPG.

I have taken a TON of pictures - please look at them closely.  My camera is tough to work (I need my teenager home to help me and she's not!) so I did the best I could.  I can always take extra pictures for anyone who needs them and send them directly to you.

The interior is SPOTLESS and just went through a thorough detailing.  Tires are in good shape (about 50% tread left) and should pass inspection in most any state.  They did in MD, and our inspection is very tough.  There is very MINOR wear/marks consistent with an 80K mile car.  One item of note is the driver side fog lamp housing is cracked.  It still works fine with no issues.  To replace it, you must take off the entire front bumper...just not worth the effort for something that still works fine.  When it "goes", it's a $75 part and a few hours in your driveway to fix it.   Cabin air filter replaced within 1K miles as well.

Low-beam headlight bulbs just replaced yesterday - one was out, replaced both.  Oil just changed about 1K ago.  Car is meticulously maintained by my husband (he's a clean freak) and there are NO smells, stains, etc. inside.   Comes with nice floormats that I assume are OEM Subaru as they are perfectly shaped to fit the interior.

As for the carfax/autocheck...........it might show two "accidents"......I bought the car knowing about these.  The previous owner (the wife) apparently bumped the side of their garage, and the other one was something to do with a curb and a spin-out.  NOT hitting other cars, etc.  I have driven the car over 8K miles with NO issues.  Where I got the car inspected (a reputable multi-line car dealership next to my work; knew the guys) did the inspection for MD and went over the entire car (which includes a test drive for road-suitability) and declared that I had a "winner".  The car stops straight, accelerates smoothly.  All lights/functions work.  Has the very desirable cold weather package and (not shown) the roof rack!!

Gymkhana 11 will be hosted by Travis Pastrana

Amidst the chaos and tragedy that has proliferated in 2020, American action sports legend Travis Pastrana has had a year of growth. In March, Subaru announced his return as a full-time rally driver, and this week, he announced that he will be the first person to host Gymkhana other than Ken Block. Pastrana has been assigned Gymkhana 11, and he'll be using a tuned Subaru WRX STI as his trusty steed. Block, Pastrana, and both of their families have participated in a fun challenge recently. In early May, Block set the stage at the Hoonigan Racing Division shop in Park City, Utah, with a makeshift Gymkhana GRiD-style course (Gymkhana GRiD was scheduled to return in 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic). He used a Can-Am Maverick X3, and his kids and wife filmed him ripping through the course. At the end of the video, he called on Pastrana to attempt a superior answer.   And Pastrana delivered. Using a hot dog suit, a Can-Am Maverick X3, a kids kart, a Subaru WRX STI, and a Harley-Davidson with a sidecar, the Pastranas executed their own course with dirt track jumps, wheelies, burnouts and two-wheel driving. The competition wouldn't be complete without judging, so that was left up to the viewers. In online voting, audiences preferred Pastrana's performance more than Block's video at a 288 votes to 140 votes, as of this writing.  It seems the challenge was a lead-up to this week's announcement posted to Pastrana's Instagram: Got some awesome news today! @kblock43 passed the torch to me for Gymkhana 11. I have some big shoes to fill but more than excited to give it a go. Kens guidelines for me are pretty simple. Keep the essence of Gymkhana with -epic vehicle -unattainable location -precision driving with close proximity to catastrophe. The @vermont.sportscar team has already started work on building the baddest #subaru of all time. If you're going to name a car after a specific location or region, you'd better make sure it's taken seriously in the place it's named for. You're not likely to see a Chevrolet Monte Carlo in Monaco, and the Alfa Romeo Montreal was never even officially offered in North America, but the Subaru Outback is another story.
Subaru apparently takes the Australian market, whose wilderness its jacked-up Legacy wagon is named for, very seriously. So it is apparently rolling out a revised version of the current Outback in Australia itself. The updated Outback, which arrives less than a year before the all-new model is expected to bow, answers Aussie customer feedback with a more rugged look. It's got new roof rails, body cladding, wheel arches, mud flaps, underbody protection plates and blacked-out headlight surrounds and grille trim.
The Motor Report reports that the AUD $2,500 worth of extra equipment - around $2,300 USD - comes with just an AUD $500 ($468) price hike. As far as we can tell, though, there are no plans to bring this latest look to our shores - Subaru has already detailed North America's Outback for the 2014 model year, and these changes aren't mentioned. Subaru CEO expects record U.S. sales in 2020 despite market slowdown

TOKYO  - Subaru expects its U.S. vehicle sales to rise to a record high in 2020, as demand for its crossover models helps it buck the trend of slowing car sales in the Japanese automaker's biggest market. The company has been growing rapidly in the United States, the world's No. 2 auto market, roughly doubling the number of vehicles sold over the past six years, thanks in part to a ramp-up in local production capacity and a marketing strategy focused mainly on affluent and liberal-minded consumers. Japan's smallest automaker said that ongoing U.S. demand for its Forester and Outback models would likely boost overall sales in the country to 720,000 to 730,000 units next year, up by as much as 4.3% from the around 700,000 vehicles it expects to sell by the end of this year. "We expect the U.S. market to slow only slightly next year, so we're planning to see more growth in our sales. We think we can achieve this," CEO Tomomi Nakamura told reporters in Tokyo. He added that he saw room for the automaker to expand its share of the SUV market, which stands at around 7% at the moment, given that Subaru's SUV models outsell its Legacy and Impreza sedan models. "If competition in the U.S. SUV market continues, that segment will keep growing even as the overall market slows," he said. U.S. sales account for around 65% of Subaru's total global sales of around 1 million units. By the end of November, sales of the Forester this year had climbed 6.4% from a year ago, while sales of the Outback, its best-selling model in the country, were up 0.9%. However, the rapid growth in the country has coincided with a jump in global quality-related issues which has sapped profitability in the past year or so.
