You're looking at my pride and joy, beautifully murdered out, 2008 Subaru WRX STI. People say it all the time, but for me I say this with true sincerity - I really do not want to sell this car. :( Sometimes life doesn't smile on you as much and I've found myself in a much less happier financial situation than when I bought this car. So ...
This car is ffffffast! I'm the second owner. The first owner put more than $10k extra into it to the tune of 82 more horsepower than stock. That's a total of 382 horsepower. Let me pause for a brief anecdote - I'll readily admit that I'm a big fan of Goldrush Alaska. Well, I was looking at the 3rd season recently when the narrator was describing the awesome power of the bulldozers the crew uses. The dozers are employed to do big work like clearing granite boulders from the side of mountains. Take a moment to consider that these dozers are rated at 300 horsepower. Now imagine having almost 30% more total of that power purring right under your foot. Again, I say, this car is ffffffast!
Overall the car is very clean. And despite it being 5 years old it still has hints of "new car" freshness inside. It has been garage kept, and despite all its upgrades to lead you thinking otherwise, it has never ever been raced. It has never been in an accident for that matter either. Thanks to the garage and my driving it very little (I've put less than 20k miles on it in the 3 years I've owned it) it still has a healthy layer of clear coat. As you can see from the pictures it shines right up when clean and looks amazing during evening drives in the city.
A list of the upgrades includes the following - all of which were professionally installed and I have all the receipts to prove it:
1. Turbo kit
2. Upgraded injectors
3. Upgraded fuel pump
4. Mishimoto radiator
5. Turbo blanket
6. Upgraded brakes
7. Upgraded alloy wheels
8. All weather mats
9. Aluminium shifter
10. Boost, exhaust temp, etc. digital multi-gauge
11. Upgraded exhaust kit
12. Computer reprogramming kit
13. Thoroughly upgraded suspension (too much to list, but, again, have the receipts of all the work)
14. Dyno-tuned
15. Yakima roof rack base (crossbars not shown but are included)
16. Bumper scuff guard
17. iPod line-in adapter
18. Tinted glass
Additionally the car has a brand new VA inspection and just got an oil change.
I'm letting this go at less than blue book even though all the extras put it way north of that value. Here's the deal, despite all the good it's not perfect. There are aesthetic blemishes that need to be taken care of before the car is perfect. Though it's your choice, of course, the car is exceptional even with the blemishes. I've included pictures of these for full disclosure. I parked too close when I was rushed one day resulting in the blemish under the front fender. Then the back fender got scuffed while it was parked; the person responsible for it didn't leave a note. I got the work estimated at $1500 but then, like now, I didn't have the financial means. So you buy this car, put it in the body shop for a week, and come out with a perfect car with tons of extras for an incredible deal!

I forgot to include all the pictures. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/89coda4wqktat6v/psG9x49TO6

Subaru moves to trademark the name ... Evoltis
Tue, Apr 17 2018Subaru's advancing to the electrified frontier, and it's reportedly picking a name for its plug-in hybrid. That name is said to be "Evoltis." While Evoltis sounds about as engaging as "Avensis" (Toyota) or "Magentis" (Kia), at least it's not as clunky as "Levorg" (an Aussie Subaru nameplate). Then again, when naming a child you should always try to picture how their name will be used in playground taunts, so we'll leave your to your imaginations on this one. A mention of the Evoltis name appears in the United States Patent and Trademark Office's listings, and the application has been filed as recently as March 26. We don't know yet whether the Evoltis name would stand for the entire vehicle or its hybrid tech — or if it will be actually used at all. Car & Driver reports that Subaru of America didn't comment on the matter when asked. But still, Subaru is said to come up with a PHEV by the end of the year, largely using Toyota's technology from the Prius Prime. We're probably not the only ones to hope for an all-wheel-drive setup, which would best suit Subaru's image and character. Last year, the carmaker said an electrified vehicle should be expected for 2018, but didn't specify whether it would be an EV or a hybrid. Subaru hasn't offered a hybrid in the U.S. since the Crosstrek Hybrid was discontinued in 2016, and it's produced precious few all-electric vehicles in its history. Related Video:
Subaru skips the Super Bowl, brings back the driving dogs
Sun, Jan 31 2016Subaru's research shows that 80 percent of owners have a pet. So the company plans to skip expensive advertising during the Super Bowl again this year in favor of being the official auto sponsor of the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. The canine-friendly company also has five new ads starring the Barkleys, a family of Labradors and Golden Retrievers. The commercial above titled Phone Navigation is our favorite of the group because it puts a funny spin on bad smartphone voice recognition. You can check out the other four adorable ads below. Doggie Bag has the pups dealing with an inept valet; Windshield Wiper forces them to cope with a bulldog in a car ahead; Bad Hair Day tactfully handles a rough trip to the doggy salon; and Puppy tries to help a little one get to sleep. With new spots like this practically every year, Subaru clearly has a paw on the pulse of what its customers like. This content is hosted by a third party. In Subaru's newest spots, the Barkleys will take on everything from driving their Subaru around town, trying to get their kids to sleep and even dealing with other doggie drivers. The national television spots, created by Carmichael Lynch on behalf of Subaru of America, will air in the coming weeks, and all five ads will be featured on February 7 during PUPPY BOWL XII on Animal Planet, where Subaru of America will mark its sixth year as the event's Official Auto Sponsor. During the event, fans at home will be encouraged to share photos of their own pets using #PuppyBowlSubaru. The "Dog Tested.
Which is quicker in the standing mile, a Subaru WRX STI or a Porsche Cayman?
Thu, 26 Jun 2014The 2015 Subaru WRX STI and 2014 Porsche Cayman are both saddled with unfair reputations. The STI with its huge wing and gold wheels has the title of the ultimate boy-racer. On the other hand, Porsche brand snobs look down on he base Cayman as just a wannabe 911. In reality, they are both pretty fantastic performance cars. But what would happen if the two of them lined up at a stoplight, and maybe the guy in the suit in the Cayman started throwing some revs at the young man in the STI? Automobile decided to find out in a recent video pitting the two stereotyped hot rods against each other in a standing-mile drag race.
In terms of raw numbers, they are surprisingly close. Both use flat engines and six-speed manual transmissions here, but the Subaru has more power and torque. However, the Porsche makes up for it with 300 pounds less weight. Neither should have a problem with traction either thanks to the STI's sophisticated all-wheel-drive setup, and the Cayman's mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout.
The comparable specs certainly show themselves in the real world for the race. We're not going to give away the winner here because it's too exciting, but let's just say the finish is very, very close. Scroll down to watch both of them shrug off their stereotypes and show off their real performance.
