2006 Subaru Impreza Wrx Sti Sedan 4-door 2.5l, Aspen White on 2040-cars
Syracuse, Utah, United States
This car was purchased from Nate Wade Subaru in Salt Lake City in 2006. I am the original owner. Vehicle was a semi daily driver for about 2 years. It was a typical stage 2 car, Cobb Accessport, TBE, suspension goodies etc. During that time, the car was driven in the snow less than 5 times. Oil was changed every 3k miles. Car did not see any form of racing or abusive driving
2008, car underwent a fairly major facelift. Rallysportdirect helped plan the build of the car as well as source all after market parts. Solid Autoworks, a great shop in Salt Lake, with a sterling reputation completed installation of all parts. They have also overseen all maintenance during the life of the car, as well as a recent compression leak-down test. Local body shop, Kindig It Design, installed body pieces and completely prepped and repainted the exterior of the car. Fitment of after market body pieces are OEM quality. Factory paint code was used, but with a much thicker higher quality paint. No painting in engine bay or interior of car. This body shop is known for their award winning SEMA cars Christian from Cobb tuning layed down base tune to use during proper motor break in period. With use of CobbAccessport EM, a few different maps were made to use. John Shafer of Akuma Motorsports, who was with Cobb tuning at the time, was the last person to tune the car. With race gas and meth, the car made 520 awhp at 4300 feet above sea level, on a mustang dyno. The only thing holding the car back was the fuel system. At this point, I was pretty much done chasing power and dumping money into the car. I had the option to upgrade the fuel system, but the car already had plenty of power and would forever be beyond my driving capabilities. The car has remained unchanged over the last ~4 years. Since the big build, it has never seen snow. It has remained garaged and covered, sometimes for long periods of time. Care was taken to preserve integrity of fluids during periods of sitting in the garage. All regular maintenance has been kept up with and performed at professional shop, Solid Auto. Vehicle I am selling this car because I lost the desire and interest in modified cars a few years ago. The car has sentimental value and I debated on parting with it for awhile. I have a small family now and I could also put some of the money from the sale of it towards future education. Finding it a good home, with somebody who would really enjoy it would be great. Hopefully someone will appreciate the quality of the parts used and the care taken to maintain it. If you are familiar with modified imports and after market parts and modifications, you will know that this is a very well put together build. No corners were cut and nothing was overlooked. The mindset was to buy nice, not twice. I am listing it at a price that is honestly considered to be very low, even when you consider that modifications do not add that much to resale value. The fact of the matter is that this is a $100,000 STi. Cost of the motor alone was $14k. That's not something I like to flaunt or even share with my closest friends. But after the cost of all the parts, professional installation, multiple tuning sessions on the dyno and the cost of the bodywork and paint job, that is an honest assessment. $30,000 is a straight up steal, especially when you can have a magazine cover car, for less than the price of a new WRX. This car is ready to be very competitive in road racing events, if you don't mind getting such a pretty car dirty. It also turns a lot of heads rolling into any car meet. Someone could do very well with it at car shows. And if nothing else, it is a blast to just take out for a drive. The car drives like it's on rails and pulls like a freight train. You can embarrass plenty of domestic V8 owners and lots of exotic import owners, should you feel so inclined. A little food for thought, the car will easily surpass 700 hp at sea levels. 2015 Subaru WRX priced from $26,295*, STI from $34,495*
Fri, 14 Feb 2014As you read these words, we're putting together our full First Drive report on the 2015 Subaru WRX STI. And back in December, we were given our first shot behind the wheel of the wingless 2015 Subaru WRX. Both cars will launch at the same time, hitting dealers this spring, and Subaru has now confirmed that pricing will start at $26,295 for the standard WRX, and $34,495 for the hotter STI, with both models subject to a *$795 for destination fee.
On the WRX, that price gets you a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine good for 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. There are three trim levels available - base, Premium and Limited - the latter of which will retail for $28,495 and $29,995, respectively. Premium and Limited models are also available with a new continuously variable transmission (it isn't bad - seriously), and the two-pedal setup adds $1,200 to the sedan's bottom line. Premium models add things like heated seats and mirrors, a sunroof, foglamps and a rear spoiler. The high-zoot Limited trim adds leather seating, a power driver's seat and automatic LED headlamps.
And then there's the STI, which, at $34,495, carries the same base price as the previous model. Like the standard WRX, the STI is a sedan-only affair, but boasts extensive chassis and powertrain upgrades (stay tuned for our full drive report next week). Under the hood is a turbocharged, 2.5-liter boxer-four, producing 305 hp and 290 lb-ft of twist, mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission.
Will more efficient tech mean higher prices for Subaru?
Tue, Jun 9 2015If the latest ruling by the California Air Resources Board holds, then Subaru at least must build a plug-in hybrid in the coming years to comply with the Golden State's regulations. Fuel economy looks to improve across the board for the brand, though, thanks to $780 million going into the development of cleaner powertrains for this fiscal year alone. However, buyers might have to pay more for a Subie in the future after this boost in green spending. "Related costs are going up more than expected, bringing the profit margin downward," Fuji Heavy Industries President Yasuyuki Yoshinaga said to the Nihon Keizai newspaper in Japan, according to Automotive News. "We are a small company. We do not benefit as much from economy of scale as bigger companies, so we will have to make up for the increased costs by raising our brand value." At the moment, Subaru's electrified lineup in the US comprises just the XV Crosstrek Hybrid, but the company is reportedly planning to add more. Plus, Subie also wants to make its internal combustion engines more efficient. According to Automotive News, all of the brand's mills are getting direct injection by 2016, and cylinder deactivation and lean combustion cycles are on track for 2020. Earlier rumors also suggested that the automaker might bring the turbocharged four-cylinder boxer to more products, as well. While these more efficient models might cost more, Subaru must carefully maintain the balancing act of introducing the technology and keeping sales growing. As of May 2015, the brand had 42 straight months of year-over-year growth in the US and had record sales in the country last year. The company has already decided to significantly boost production capacity at its Indiana factory in hopes of keeping the good times rolling.
