You are bidding on a 2002 Subaru WRX Wagon (VIN# JF1GG29632G822238). I am the original owner of this car, I bought it when they first became available in the US. I knew they were going to be great cars, and this one has not disappointed me.
I have loved driving it for the entire 130k miles that are on the car. The only reason why I am parting with it is because my commute to work is now taking me through downtown traffic and it's time for me to get a new WRX, but with the automatic for the bumper to bumper traffic I will likely be facing. I have not regretted a single mile in this car. Important notes on the car: - I have kept all service records on the car, I always used synthetic oil, and there are no leaks nor burning smoke coming from the engine. - The seats are in very good condition. There are no tears, holes or large stains. - The car has never been wrecked. The only body damage that has occurred resulted from things lightly denting it during Hurricane Wilma, and one light hit to the left passenger door while it was in a parking lot. All body work was done professionally by a dealership body shop. - This car is loaded with every option that was available in 2002. It has the sport instrument cluster, the upgraded Subaru sound system, and the alarm system, among other options. - I purchased the protective cargo tray and mats. Recent services performed/parts replaced: - Heavy duty clutch installed at 90k miles. - Both rear struts were replaced ($400 each side) - Both front CV joints were replaced recently - AC serviced and the expansion valve and drier was replaced - Most light bulbs were replaced with LED bulbs - New auto-dimming rear view mirror with electronic compass Additional Items Installed: - Turbo boost controller that allows the engine to be switched from low to high boost for power or economy modes. - Computer programmer that allows the computer to be programmed with various maps (profiles) for a range of modes from high performance to economy to stock modes in just a few seconds. - 17" wheels and tires with plenty of tread. - Subaru slotted high performance rotors and pads. - Radar detector - Remote start so the car AC will cool the car down on a hot day before you get in it. - Short shifter with nylon bushings (the original Subaru rubber bushings always wear out and the shifter gets sloppy. This shifter is tight.) - Borla stainless exhaust bought through Subaru. This is NOT a "fart pipe". It is a deep, bass-filled tone that sounds more like a V-8. - Exhaust up-pipe to the turbo. - Larger turbo (I still have the original turbo and it was working well when I removed it at 110k miles.) - STI version hood scoop. This is a Subaru part that allows more air to cool the intercooler. - Trailer hitch. I used it with a rear-mounted bike rack. - Tinted windows Things to note: - There are a few chips in the paint around the front that you would expect on a car of this age. - The heavier clutch has a little bit of chatter if you try to start too softly. - Since I use RainX, I have never used the windshield washer system. I think the supply tubes dried out since there has never been washer fluid in them. - In the sport instrument cluster, the oil pressure gauge does not work. The oil indicator in the dash works, but this is an add-on option that relies on a wire that goes into the oil drain plug underneath the engine. Objects and branches on the road cut this wire, and after the 3rd time repairing it, I did not repair it when it was cut again. Easy to fix. It is the buyer's responsibility to test drive and ask any and all questions regarding this car. I will try to answer everything to the extent that I am able, and I will make myself available for showing the car based on my schedule. This is a used car in a private sale, so there is no warranty and the sale is final, so please test drive the car first and ask me any questions that you think are important. |

2019 Subaru Impreza price goes up by $100
Fri, Jul 6 2018The 2019 Subaru Impreza is going to cost you an extra Benjamin. Pricing was announced for both the Impreza Sedan and 5-door hatchback model, which were redesigned for the 2017 model year. The base 2.0i sedan with a five-speed manual transmission starts at $19,480, including destination, while the comparable 5-door is a bit more at $19,980. Opting for the CVT costs an extra $1,000. These prices are up $100 from 2018. A marginal uptick in cost isn't the only update for the 2019 Impreza, however. The base model can now be equipped with Subaru's EyeSight Driver Assist Technology suite for a perfectly reasonable $845 given that it comes with adaptive cruise control, automatic pre-collision braking, lane-departure warning and lane keeping. EyeSight is also now standard on the Impreza Limited trim. Note, though, that EyeSight is still unavailable with manual transmission-equipped Imprezas. The range-topping Limited trim also comes standard with a pair of new safety features: reverse automatic braking and automatic high beams. The Impreza Premium trim now comes standard with an upgraded Subaru Starlink 6.5-inch touchscreen that includes HD and satellite radios, two USB ports for rear passengers and a CD player (yay, save the CD's!). Black alloy wheels are also now included on the Premium. Finally, the Impreza Sport gains an STI short-throw shifter when, quite obviously, it's equipped with the manual. The full pricing breakdown, all including destination can be found below. The 2019 Subaru Impreza arrives in dealers "this summer," which we can only assume means if it's not on dealer lots already, it will be very soon. Porsche, Jaguar continue dominance in 2015 JD Power APEAL study
Wed, Jul 22 2015The top of JD Power's 2015 APEAL Study has not changed much in the last year. Porsche remains No. 1 with Jaguar nipping at its heels, although both premium brands saw their overall score fall compared to 2014. For those that need a refresher, the APEAL Study looks at how "gratifying" a vehicle is to own and drive, rating cars and brands on a 1,000-point scale. The industry average for 2015 has increased from 794 to 798, while the total number of automakers that finished above the curve increased from 16 to 20. While Porsche and Jaguar finished at the top, their scores dropped eight and seven points, respectively, to 874 and 855. The top "non-premium" brand was Mini, which scored an impressive 825, up from 795. If the BMW-owned British marque is still a bit too premium for your tastes, last year's non-premium winner, Hyundai, did climb five points and is this year's runner up. At the opposite end of the scale, Smart sits at the very bottom of the rankings, with a score of 683 (it didn't appear on the 2014 rankings). Fiat also dropped, from fourth worst in 2014 to second worst in 2015, despite the 500 being named most appealing city car. Subaru made an impressive climb, from third worst to seventh, falling just 10 points shy of the industry average and two points south of the non-premium average. In the individual vehicle segments, eight brands earned multiple awards, with Ford, Chevrolet, and Porsche earning three apiece. Surprise segment victories included the new Ford Expedition, which beat out Chevy's popular Suburban. The Infiniti QX80 bested the likes of the Cadillac Escalade and Range Rover for best large luxury SUV, and the Dodge Challenger beat its muscle car rivals from Ford and Chevy. Most of the victories, though, were quite predictable. The Mazda6 and CX-5 took wins for the midsize sedan and compact SUV categories respectively, while the Volkswagen Golf captured the compact car win. The Ford F-150 won the large pickup category, while the Porsche Cayman was named most appealing compact premium sporty car. Check out the official release on the 2015 APEAL Study, available below, from JD Power. 2015 U.S. APEAL Study Results The latest safety-related technologies are among the drivers of customer satisfaction with new vehicles, according to the J.D. Subaru Levorg: Forbidden fruit
Mon, Feb 15 2016For Subaristas, the Levorg needs no introduction. Fans of the marque have been begging Subaru of America (SOA) to bring it over here from the moment it was first introduced. First introduced in Japan a year or so ago, and now making its way across the globe, it is one delicious wagon that SOA refuses to let Americans taste. Why? Wagons don't sell in America, so they say (some Euro-brands might disagree with that). Plus they seem to think they have the wagon market pretty well covered with the Outback, Forester, and to a lesser degree, the Crosstrek. First a bit of history Unlike here in America, at least in recent years, a Legacy wagon continued to exist in other markets. At some point Subaru decided to also delete it from their global portfolio, and to replace it with the smaller, sportier and well-equipped Levorg. The thinking was that the Levorg would be more distinct from the Outback than a Legacy wagon, and would be less likely to step on the Outback's toes in terms of searching for customers; makes sense. Another point needs to be made: Subaru is selling at record levels. They just can't make them fast enough as they are constrained by lack of production capacity. That will improve soon as the next-gen Impreza will be built in their Indiana plant this fall once the Toyota Camry production moves out. So, at the moment, they don't need the Levorg to improve sales. Down the road that may be a different situation, but for now adding another model line would be tough and of little benefit. Why America needs the Levorg When Subaru introduced the current generation WRX they deleted the hatchback — which accounted for 50 percent of WRX sales. Needless to say WRX 5-door owners were outraged — and continue to be so. The Levorg wagon could be the perfect answer for these folks, as shares many parts with the WRX. In Japan it's available with a new 1.6L direct-injection turbo as well as the same 2.0L direct-injection turbo found in the WRX. Other markets, to date, only get the 1.6L engine. All Levorgs have CVTs, with the 2.0 versions getting the high-torque CVT found in the WRX CVT. The chassis setup, while a tad softer, is very close to that of the WRX. So it is definitely a car that's cut out for canyon-carving. It's also more upscale than the WRX, with an interior more akin to luxurious trim levels of the Legacy and Outback. In its defense Subaru has claimed that the budget did not allow for developing both the Levorg and a 5-door WRX.
