2002 Subaru Impreza Rs Sedan 4-door 2.5l on 2040-cars
Grasonville, Maryland, United States
Maryland state inspected, great mechanical condition, excellent daily driver, all wheel drive ready for winter! Some minor cosmetic damage to RF fender and mirror (see pictures). A very well maintained and cared for vehicle, the only mechanical defect worth mentioning is the A/C needs a shot of freon. We have added freon at the begining of the last 2 summers and made it through the summer. The compressor works fine and the system will work with freon added but there is a leak in the system. This car runs and drives as it should with no unusual noises or vibrations. It always starts right up, no problems, no smoke. The transmission shifts smoothly, the clutch engages nicely and does not slip. Some of the maintenance that has been done in the last 10,000 miles: new tires, new brakes (pads and rotors), new battery, new fan belts and regular oil changes. lots of pictures, check it out, what you see is what you get, no surprises. If you have any questions please call 410-274-1052 Mike Matson. Sorry for the short auction but we need the car sold by Tuesday 11/12. Please do not bid unless you have funds available to buy the car. I need a $200 deposit via pay pal immediately following the close of the auction. And the balance is due within 48 hours of auction close (unless prior agreement has been made by contacting me before you bid). If you are not sure please ask. This is a nice little car but it is 12 years old. I have disclosed all the defects I am aware of (not many, buy this car drive it anywhere). Thanks for looking! |

Toyota GT86 engineer Tada recounts how sports car came to be
Wed, 13 Feb 2013Because the Toyota GT86, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ coupes are now a reality, it's almost hard to imagine the struggle that had to happen within the large, conservative corporate structures at both automakers for the joint project to even get off of the ground.
Speaking to those struggles on Toyota UK's Toyota Blog, GT86 Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada enlightens us with a recap of the sports car's earliest origins. For Tada, the first stages of the project must have seemed almost as dreamlike as the final product is to drive.
Said the Chief, "I had been working in the minivan department engineering new product, but a month after the meeting I was summoned. 'Forget about minivans,' they said, 'you are now working on the sports-car project.'"
Subaru to stop building Camry for Toyota in the US
Fri, 09 May 2014It was back in 2007 that Subaru of Indiana Automotive, under contract from Subaru minority shareholder Toyota, built the first Toyota Camry at its plant in Lafayette, Indiana. Rumblings of the end of that contract work have been around for a while, as Subaru talked of expanding capacity to build more units and add a line for the Impreza, and Toyota talked of moving Camry production to its Georgetown, KY plant. The news was official internally last November when SIA Executive Vice President Tom Easterday told the Louisville Courier-Journal that Camry production would end. Now, Automotive News reports that both automakers have admitted publicly that the end will come in 2016.
SIA currently has a 170,000-unit capacity devoted to the home-brand Legacy and Outback models, while a $400-million expansion increases that to 300,000 units to prepare the facility for Impreza production in two years. Freeing up the 100,000 units of production devoted to the Camry means a 400,000-unit capability, which is far more than Subaru needs at the moment, but the Toyota exit will allow it to expand any way it sees fit. Subaru has said it will absorb the workers on the Camry line and no jobs will be lost, the mayor of Lafayette saying the development could change the timetable for the expansion.
Subaru rolls out BRZ Premium Sports Edition in Japan [w/poll]
Wed, 30 Oct 2013The Subaru BRZ is many things: fun, affordable, communicative... but premium is not one of them. Yet that is precisely more of that upscale look and feel Subaru is going for with its new BRZ Premium Sports Edition.
Thus far exclusive to the Japanese Domestic Market, the BRZ Premium Sports Edition upgrades the standard model with unique 17-inch alloys and an interior spruced up with two-tone black and tan leather, along with contrast-stitched Alcantara trim for the instrument cluster, center console and door panels. There's also a set of aluminum pedals, metal and carbon trim, black mirror housings and more.
The luxed-up model wears a sticker price of 3,034,500 yen, which translates to about $31k. That would make it about $6k more expensive than a base BRZ in the United States, but to put it into more relevant context, the upgrades represent a 241,500 yen ($2,450) premium over the top-spec BRZ Type S in Japan. Assuming Subaru could keep that price premium intact, do you think it would be wise to offer the BRZ Premium Sports Edition in North America? Vote in our poll below, then have your say in Comments.
