Up for sale is my 1999 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS 2-door coupe. I am the second owner. In the last year, I have had the brakes, clutch, timing belt, water pump, right front axle, spark plugs, and all gaskets replaced. I also had Michelin tires put on the car in the summer of 2011, and after roughly 15,000 miles, they have plenty of tread left. There is a minor rattle and steering wheel shake from about 60-75 mph that a tire tech attributed to fix-a-flat that I had needed to use on two of the tires after I ran over some nails--but he told me that unless I found it to be very bothersome (which I have not), there was no need to replace them, and I've driven several thousand miles with no problems since then. As you will see, I have got New York plates (and clean New York title in hand), but live in Denver, where I moved in August for grad school.

Subaru CEO expects record U.S. sales in 2020 despite market slowdown
Sun, Dec 15 2019TOKYOÂ - Subaru expects its U.S. vehicle sales to rise to a record high in 2020, as demand for its crossover models helps it buck the trend of slowing car sales in the Japanese automaker's biggest market. The company has been growing rapidly in the United States, the world's No. 2 auto market, roughly doubling the number of vehicles sold over the past six years, thanks in part to a ramp-up in local production capacity and a marketing strategy focused mainly on affluent and liberal-minded consumers. Japan's smallest automaker said that ongoing U.S. demand for its Forester and Outback models would likely boost overall sales in the country to 720,000 to 730,000 units next year, up by as much as 4.3% from the around 700,000 vehicles it expects to sell by the end of this year. "We expect the U.S. market to slow only slightly next year, so we're planning to see more growth in our sales. We think we can achieve this," CEO Tomomi Nakamura told reporters in Tokyo. He added that he saw room for the automaker to expand its share of the SUV market, which stands at around 7% at the moment, given that Subaru's SUV models outsell its Legacy and Impreza sedan models. "If competition in the U.S. SUV market continues, that segment will keep growing even as the overall market slows," he said. U.S. sales account for around 65% of Subaru's total global sales of around 1 million units. By the end of November, sales of the Forester this year had climbed 6.4% from a year ago, while sales of the Outback, its best-selling model in the country, were up 0.9%. However, the rapid growth in the country has coincided with a jump in global quality-related issues which has sapped profitability in the past year or so. Some 2019 Subaru Ascent owners will get brand-new cars due to recall [UPDATE]
Wed, Aug 15 2018UPDATE: After inspection, it turns out that the issue of missing welds on Subaru Ascent models built between July 13 and July 21, 2018, was much smaller than initially thought. A Subaru spokesperson informs us that "none of the customer vehicles included in the recall were affected." According to Subaru, 293 brand-new 2019 Ascent crossovers built between July 13 and July 21, 2018, are missing a series of spot welds on the B-pillar. These welds add strength to the shell of the car right where the rear doors attach, which makes them extremely important to the overall structure of the vehicle. The issue was caused by improper programming of the robots that add these welds as the vehicle rolls down the assembly line. What makes this recall particularly interesting is that 9 of these 293 affected Ascent models are already in the driveways of paying customers, and those owners are going to get brand-new replacement vehicles. The other 284 affected Ascents are either sitting on dealer lots or in transit. All 293 models without the proper B-pillar welds will be destroyed and replaced. If you're the owner of a 2019 Ascent that may be affected by this recall, you can contact your local dealer with your VIN number, or check online to find out if your vehicle is one of the 293 with missing welds. And since it's a very real safety issue, we'd recommend you check your VIN immediately, because the missing welds cannot be identified just by a visual inspection. Related Video:
Subaru XV Concept is our first glimpse at the next Crosstrek
Tue, Mar 1 2016Subaru debuted a pair of Impreza concepts at last year's Tokyo and Los Angeles shows – one, a five-door hatch, the other, a sedan. But the Impreza range also includes the lifted Crosstrek, known as the XV in other markets. So at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, Subaru presents our first official glimpse at the next-generation, high-riding Impreza, by way of this XV Concept. Details are few – what you see is what you get. The XV definitely has a more butch take on the sedan and hatchback concepts that came before it, in keeping with the Crosstrek's ethos. The concept rides on 19-inch wheels which surely won't make it to production, and we expect some sort of boxer four-cylinder engine to drive power to all four wheels. View 12 Photos All in, the XV Concept looks pretty good. But Subaru has a long history of making attractive concept cars that don't quite carry their beauty over to production. Even so, the current Crosstrek has a sort of rugged handsomeness to it, so here's hoping something similar happens when this concept eventually transforms into a production model next year. "Subaru XV Concept" Makes World Debut at 2016 Geneva International Motor Show Tokyo, March 1, 2016 - Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, today unveiled the Subaru XV Concept at the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show. The Subaru XV Concept is a design concept car that embodies Subaru's next-generation DYNAMIC X SOLID design philosophy in a compact crossover model. Its compact body features Subaru's DYNAMIC X SOLID design elements, the powerful form of a crossover, and a quality feel beyond its class – previewing the design direction of the next-generation Subaru XV*. Main Features of Subaru XV Concept The front, sides, and rear are seamlessly joined in the DYNAMIC X SOLID surface structure, creating a three-dimensional and solid body that is a feature of Subaru styling. The dynamism is enhanced by well-placed character lines on the compact body shape. The design expression of "Enjoyment and Peace of Mind", the value that Subaru provides to its customers, is fully pursued within the limits of the compact crossover model body size. In the area of functionality essential to a Subaru car, excellent aerodynamic performance is teamed with the ample road clearance and luggage space required of a crossover vehicle, achieving blend of function and style.
