I bought this vehicle from Texas so it is rust free (not like most of our rigs in Minnesota after a few years). It is in nearly order perfect with a few exceptions:
1. I bought if from a dealer in Texas off the internet. It sat buttoned up from September to late March. It arrived poorly detailed. That isn't a big deal but I was disappointed. I have gone over this thing thoroughly and cleaned the carpets with a non-allergenic rug cleaner, scrubbed the interior including the headliner, purged the climate system including the evaporator area, and fixed some poorly touched-up small paint chips. The body is in great shape with the exception of minor chips and a couple small scratches. The original owner put the 3M protective covering on the hood and mirrors.
2. The vehicle arrived with the CEL showing an air pump malfunction. They told me it was in perfect working order. They couldn't have missed on this one. I suspect the original owner got an estimate on it and decided to trade it in. The air pump and valves simply pumps clean air into the exhaust at start up to make the exhaust appear cleaner. Google this (Subaru secondary air pump air valve problems) and you will see many have gone through this. At the time of this posting, I have the valves ordered (Wow! Are they expensive!) and will get this fixed properly. I can understand the former owner's hesitation if they got an estimate. If for some reason a code still appears, I will discount or rebate the new owner $200 even after the vehicle is gone. This should more than pay for a mechanic to look at it.
3. It sometimes idles a bit rough. It doesn't bother me and I'm fussy. Many postings say this is typical for this engine. Many also say it goes away when the air injections system is fixed.
4. There is a minor air leak on the driver's side when the vehicle is in a strong cross wind. I haven't tried to fix it yet.
5. The tires are on the low end of just okay. It seems to make sense for the next owner to get exactly the tires needed to match the type of driving that will be done.
Here's what is great:
1. The body is in very fine shape. There is one fifty-cent piece sized dent on the front bumper but it has gorgeous paint. I will wax it one more time before shipping or meeting to sell.
2. I put on a new hitch. I didn't put in the wiring harness yet (I think they are about $35) and take a few minutes to install.
3. Turbos require premium but it's worth it. This thing really has pep! It cost about $2-$3 a tank more to fill in our area. I have consistently been getting 26 mpg but I do drive the posted speed limits :)
4. Per the manual, I put in a new timing belt and water pump. I cleaned the injectors. It has new plugs (hard to get at). The oil will be freshly changed when I sell it.
5. The interior is in great shape (no tears). The leather shows some mild signs of wear but everything is quite remarkable given the vehicle is six years old.
I would be willing to Face Time with serious buyers. This can be set up through e-mail. With this, you can get a virtual tour and test drive. I am busy this time of the year and would need to limit this to only very those who are in the hunt with the bidding.

2014 Subaru Forester scores 5 stars in NHTSA crash test [w/video]
Fri, 23 Aug 2013Having aced the crash test from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and earning the highest rating of Top Safety Pick+, the 2014 Subaru Forester headed over to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for a date with destruction. In the barrage of NHTSA tests, the new Forester met similar results as it did with the IIHS, earning a five-star overall crash rating.
Comparing these number to the previous model, which carried a four-star rating in all areas, the new Forester did much better in the side-impact test to earn a full five stars; frontal and rollover ratings were still at four stars like the old model, but the improved side crashworthiness was enough to gain the NHTSA's highest overall rating. The frontal impact video is posted below, but all the various test videos can be seen on NHTSA's website.
Subaru WRX STI S209 brings wider body, 341 hp, gold wheels to Detroit
Mon, Jan 14 2019With the Subaru WRX STI S209, "S" finally comes to the United States. Subaru Tecnica International created the S201 in 2000, but this ninth take on the theme — inspired by the class-winning WRX STI Nurburgring Challenge racer — is the first to make it our way. Unlike the last special edition we got here, the Type RA, this one comes with a notable power boost: 341 horsepower instead of the 310 ponies in the regular WRX STI. The muscle comes courtesy of a larger compressor and turbine in the HKS turbocharger, and 1.8 pounds more boost pressure. Since the S209 is the most powerful in-house model STI has ever built, the tuning arm didn't stop there. The EJ25 boxer gets air from a new intake duct, induction box with conical air filter, and a silicone turbo inlet duct. Paddles on the steering wheel control a system that sprays water on the intercooler to reduce air temperature, a feature last seen on the WRX STI from the 2004 to 2007 model years. An old-fashioned six-speed manual controls the transmission. The engine gets its fuel from a high-flow fuel pump that feeds larger injectors. Torque hasn't changed from 290 pound-feet, but there's 10 percent more torque at 3,600 rpm. Airflow through the mufflers is 17 percent freer. The cans also are 4.1 pounds lighter and terminate in four-inch pipes. Subaru makes no mention of any other S209 weight loss, but the looks and the "focus on high-performance driving" should make themselves known. STI widened the front and rear track by 0.6 inches, and punched out fenders with aero-aiding canards make the car 1.7 inches wider. The roof and rear wing are made of carbon fiber. Instead of the 245/35 R19 wheels on the series WRX STI, the S209's forged BBS alloys wear 265/35 Dunlop GT600A summer tires, which we're told can handle max lateral grip beyond 1 G. Behind those wheels, six-piston monoblock Brembo calipers with high-friction pads clamp cross-drilled steel rotors in front, two-piston monoblock calipers in back. Stiffer coil springs wrap retuned Bilstein dampers, the suspension aided in its work by reinforced front crossmember and rear subframe, a longitudinally-flexible strut tower bar in front, flexible draw stiffeners front and back, and a 20-millimeter rear stabilizer bar. STI programmers recalibrated the SI-Drive system's three driving modes: Intelligent, Sport, and Sport Sharp.
2016 Subaru Outback, Legacy recalled for driveshaft problem
Tue, Dec 15 2015The Basics: Subaru is recalling 3,251 examples of the 2016 Legacy built between Oct. 24, 2015, and Nov. 16 2015, and the 2016 Outback manufactured between Oct. 24, 2015, and Nov. 17, 2015. The Problem: The driveshaft could separate from the rear differential because the securing nuts aren't tight enough. If this happens, the driveshaft could hit the gas tank, leading to a fuel leak. Injuries/Deaths: Subaru spokesperson Michael McHale confirms to Autoblog there are no reports of accidents, injuries, or fires. The fix: Subaru dealers will inspect the nuts and tighten or replace them as necessary. If you own one: Subaru expected the recall to begin on December 10, so owners should receive notification very soon. Due to the improper tightening of the securing nuts, the drive shaft may separate from the rear differential. CONSEQUENCE: If the drive shaft detaches from the rear differential, it may strike the fuel tank and result in a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a fire. REMEDY: Subaru has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the fastening nuts, and tighten or replace them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on December 10, 2015.
