My wife says I own too many cars (and she's right) so I'm going to be selling off a couple that I don't drive very often. I'm very fortunate to be a bit of a car hoarder. I currently have 17 cars and trucks. My wife has a point....if I haven't driven it in 4 months (not counting the ones she knows I won't drive in rain/snow) then I should probably sell them rather then let them sit.

I work in Real Estate, and during certain projects, I have to drive quite a bit. I purchased this car to drive from the Detroit area to projects we have 3-4hrs away. I was using a Civic Hatch for that (Civics are where I started modifying 20 years ago...man I'm old) But it wasn't comfortable. So I bought this car (and had a GSR dropped in the civic for giggles).

The Scion gets amazing gas mileage on the highway, drives wonderful, has a surprising amount of power for being a 4cyl, and can handle quite a bit of cargo. Things change, we're having a 2nd child, and will be moving from the Detroit area this Summer, so I won't have to make those long drives anymore. This was my favorite car for a while. I could just do anything I needed to do. Pick up groceries, move marketing materials for work, or even lay the seats down and catch a nap on a long drive. But I recently picked up a Audi S5 in a bankruptcy auction, so I'd rather put some miles on my new toy this summer, and just have no use for this.

This is what it is, I'm not going to say it looks like it rolled off the factory line, its 6 years old. But it is well maintained. Interior is clean, exterior has no dents, no major scratches (its black, I'm sure there's some fine scratch somewhere). No rust, etc etc. My brother owns a couple car washes and detail centers, so I get free washes, and keep my cars pretty clean. I didn't have this one detailed, so its exactly the way it was after my last drive. Haven't even washed it in the last month.

I always had 18in wheels and tires on it, but I've put a set of Camry 17in wheels on for the sale. The 18's also fit on my TL, so I'm going to keep those for that car. This car has really nice remote car starter on it. Works from about 1500+ft away. I lost the little battery door on the remote some time ago, but its never mattered. I think my 2 year old hid it somewhere. This is a 2 way remote, which means the remote tells you if the car started, or if the alarm was tripped, I really like that feature. Our other cars have REI systems on them, and I can't tell you how many times I go out the garage and the stupid car didn't start.

There's a class I hitch on it, I pulled a Seadoo 3D with it a couple times. Pulls a single ski as if it wasn't even there.

I get between 23 and 28mpg depending on how I was driving, and if its winter or summer mix (most people don't know summer gas has way more ethanol in it, and kills your mpg). I took pics of my last few fill ups to show the MPG I registered. The car is lowered just over 2in. In my opinion, it sits exactly as it should. I'm  on the downside of 30, I'm not into cars that scrape or bounce anymore. But I also think some of the stock cars sit way too high. These are true TEIN springs, 10% stiffer then stock, and it rides wonderful. It now sits the same as a Camry etc would. And for some reason, I get about 2mpg better with the new springs. I'm guessing its not as much of a sail going down the road now. I also had the camber corrected, so the tires will wear properly.

I have a brand new all aluminum cold air intake for it, bought it the week I got the car, and it sat in the garage. Its a REAL cold air, not some crappy ebay shorty. You actually have to take off the front bumper and it relocates the filter behind the front bumper.

I did the brakes when I first got the car a year ago. It's had oil changes every 3000 miles. I manage a sizable company, and we have our own mechanics on staff, so I just leave the car at the shop whenever I need an oil change etc.

Finally, I live in Detroit, but we have holdings in Traverse City, and Kzoo/Grand Rapids. Which has ment a bit of night driving. So I upgrade ALL of my cards to HID lights if they don't have them. Not the silly blue bulbs, real HID, with Ballasts etc. Again, look at the pics, you'll see pictures of the Ballasts etc. The lights are as bright as my TL or S5.

I shot a video of the car. I know buying something online can be a bit of a challenge. I have a 2 year old, a pregnant wife, and a business that operates in 3 states. Needless to say, time is one commodity I can't buy more of. I know I can get more listing it on Auto Trader etc, but I just don't have the time to sit with every guy who wants to come kick the tires, or offer me half of what its worth. Feel free to watch the video. Your always welcome to come check out the car in person. I WON'T end the auction early. I WILL require a 500 deposit with 24hrs. This is an auction. Not a preview. If you bid you bought it. I start all my auctions at 1.00 because I'm here to sell things. Do you due diligence up front. I don't care if you can't get a loan, you didn't tell your mom you bid, etc etc.

Here's a brief video of the car etc. You'll notice I posted it a month ago. Like I said, I'm usually pretty busy, so its taken me this long just to get around to writing the ad.

Good luck, if you have a question feel free to email me. PLEASE don't wait until the last 30 minutes to email me, it will be Sunday night and I'm usually giving my little boy a bath, or doing bed time stories.

If your interested in a Black on Tan 2006 Acura TL, I'll probably list that one next week. It's getting detailed this week, then I'm selling that one also. I'll probably unload a couple of pick ups in the next couple weeks also.

Toyota GT86 turbo, convertible, sedan variants back on the table

Fri, 02 May 2014

Okay Toyota, make up your mind. Figure it out. Quit playing games with our heart. Either build a bunch of variations of the excellent GT86 (also known as the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ) or don't. At this point, we're just tired of the back and forth. After no shortage of denials, an Australian website is claiming that Toyota is reconsidering convertible, four-door, turbocharged and all-wheel-drive hybrid variants of the GT86. Kindly pass all the salt.
It's not that we don't want to believe the Aussies; we do. But when the story lists the same "sources in Japan" as a lot of the other denials and confirmations about GT86/BRZ/FR-S variants, well, there's a certain sense of the "Boy That Cried Wolf," here. Ignoring all that, then, what does Motoring.com.au claim to know?
Sources claim the GT86 Convertible will arrive in October 2014, while the turbocharged and hybrid sedans are slated for 2016.

Cosworth teases upgrades for Subaru BRZ

Mon, 19 May 2014

Subaru may or may not produce an STI version of the BRZ. Things seem to go back and forth on the subject. But Subaru Tecnica International isn't the only company with a history of tuning Subies. So does Cosworth, and now the British racing firm appears to be turning its attention to the BRZ and its Toyota- and Scion-badged siblings.
For those unacquainted, Cosworth is more than your average tuning company. It's a racing firm first and foremost, having made F1 engines under its own name as well as Ford's (chief among them the all-conquering DFV 3.0-liter V8 of 1960s and 70s fame), not to mention engines for Indy, rally and even high-performance, road-going versions of the Ford Sierra, Chevy Vega and Mercedes 190E. The list goes on and on, but you get the point.
Now withdrawing from Formula One, Cosworth is focusing its attention on tuning road cars again with the launch of the Cosworth Power Package line, the first of which will focus on the Toyota GT86 (aka Scion FR-S) and Subaru BRZ. We don't know just yet what will be included in the packaged dubbed FA-20, but from the video teaser below, it seems there'll be upgrades to the exhaust, suspension, aero and - if we're lucky - maybe a super- or turbocharger for the 2.0-liter flat-four engine. We'll have to wait and see, but we get the feeling that with Cosworth on the job, it'll be worth the wait. Check out the minute-long video below in the meantime.

Scion xB won't live past 2015

Sun, Jun 28 2015

The grim reaper has trailed the Scion xB for three years, and in 2015, he swings his scythe. Scion VP Doug Murtha told WardsAuto last week that as of the end of this year, the xB will be gone. It will have lived just one year longer than the Scion xD, which was updated for the 2014 model year and at one point had been expected to live until the end of this year. As we've known for a while, the new Scion iM will replace the once-icon xB. Or perhaps that's 'supersede' the once-icon, since even company brass knows that the iM, which is Europe's Toyota Auris five-door hatchback, isn't a replacement for the unapologetic box that was the xB. The xB was one of the cubic trio – along with the first of its kind here, the Honda Element, and the aptly named Nissan Cube – all of which had a hard time figuring out a second act. The Kia Soul is the last of the proud geometric figures, and six years into its run here it is doing better than ever, 2014 being a record year for the model. The xB was well into its decline after the same amount of time on the market. Cars Direct says that if you want an xB then you shouldn't wait, and, "It might be a good idea to make a move soon." On the other hand, CD advises that "if you're looking for a better deal," then it's the Kia Soul you want. Insert that chestnut here about the mighty, and the falling. Related Video:
